Serps gro log 2007
Ok, I started out with bag seed. I have never grown before but have been exposed to several people with great info and experiance early on in life....
I took 8 seeds, 4 from one batch and 4 from another, and only 4 from one barch sprouted in germanation. I took them all oursice and planted all 8 seeds into a planter. Then got onto the boards here and started asking questions. I was advised to move the 4 that were growing away from eachother instead of having them right there all growing out of the same hole in the dirt. So I went and got a big bag of Miricle Gro soil and got rid of the soil that was in a larger planter and replaced it with the MG soil, and transplanted three of the four from the one planter to the new bigger one, and spaced them out. I them temperarily transfered the remaining one to the new so I could replace the soil there too, and then moved it back. Within two days, the center seedling in the larger planter seemed to pull itself out of the siol and died, so i was left with 3 total, one in a single planter and 2 in the larger planter. They were growing well and then I believe my 22 month old son got to the larger planter and topped one of the seedlings and took everything off except the bottom node, and as it is right now, the seedling is starting to sprout a new node so I think she is going to live. Then two days later he did the same thing to the other seedling in the larger planter.... it is just now starting to sprout a new node.... the one by itself is doing ok, but the lower leaves are turning yellowish, and brown around the edges.... is this indicitive of too much watering? or not enough?
Pix are of the first one my son topped, then the other one, then the single.... Any and all constructive criticizm is welcome....

Just took these pix.
I am numbering these 1 2 and 3.
Number 1 is the one that was topped first.
Number 2 is the one that was topped a few days later,
And number 3 is the one that has been left alone.....
these are pix of number one:

This is a pic of 1 and 2.... 1 being on the right and 2 on the left.
These were germanated and planted at the same time. And topped 2 days apart.... big differance in these two....

And here is number 3 that was germanated and planted at the same time as 1 & 2..... still having a problem with the lower leaves yellowing on me. I have been watering then at night when the sun is down hoping that would help with the yellowing but it has had no effect as yet.

off to a nice start brother there was a bit of yellowing in your first pics but it looks like its sorted itself out, they are nice and bushy as well, one problem though is those 2 in the same pot they should realy be put seperatly apart from that your doing great lookin forward to updates... keep tokin:stoned::thumbsup:

thanks guys....
I am getting concerned that these guys (ladies I hope) might start getting too tall.... other than tying them down.... hwat is another method? I was told years back that topping them at every other node is good to do... but from what I have read here... it is not a good thing to do... what do you folks think?
-
Serps gro log 2007
tying them down would probably be the best idea grow them along the ground and you shouldnt have any problems with height, i start to tie mine down at around the height yours are now..
-
Serps gro log 2007
i was trying to figure out what kind of planter you had them in? i think it will be way to shallow. tying down is good, so is topping, but dont do it at every other node. do it after 4 or 5 if you need too.

I can't tell there sex but they do look good.
-
Serps gro log 2007
Yes, can't tell the sex yet, but in another month or so you should start to see signs. I would start them on some diluted ferts. I would start with something around 20-20-20 at 1/2 strengh.

Ok, peoples... I know it has been a while since I last posted....
I have lots of new pix, and a few questions.....
This is plant 1.... lots of yellow leaves around the bottom of all three plants.... check the close up pix of the tops... is this a male?
-
Serps gro log 2007
these are pix of plant 2.... again... male? female?
-
Serps gro log 2007
Ok, several pix of plant 3..... I notice in the last post of plant 2 you can water droplets on the leaves from where I just watered them.... It also looks like the bottom leaves are rotting from too much watering.... I have not been over watering them... this is the first time in over a month I have watered them because we have had rain for the past month.... almost every day.... we have not had rain for about 3 days now so I wanted to water them and get some pix while I was watering them.
I still have not been able to scrap together the money to get larger planters, and 20-20-20 either....
look at the close ups of this one... keep in mind that plant 1 and 2 were both topped when they were seedlings, and 3 was spared... it has grown straight up on one stalk without splitting like the other two and it is growing thin... not bushy like the other two either....
I think this is male... but I want you to tell me.... look at the pix...
Thanks

Serps gro log 2007
all of em? or just number 3?
-
Serps gro log 2007
1 and 3 is male cant really tell about plant 2 as you didnt really have a close up picture of that one.
your leaves are yellowing due to a nitrogen deficiency and a feeding with a fertilizer will usually put a stop to it.
-
Serps gro log 2007
k.... I will get a few pix of 2 today and post em....
-
Serps gro log 2007
yeah for sure those are males :( sorry man
-
Serps gro log 2007
ok, daylight pix of plant 2.....
-
Serps gro log 2007
-
Serps gro log 2007
still cant really tell for sure but it should be more obvious in another week or 2, would suspect that it will probably be a female but dont really see any pistols to tell you for sure.

Serps gro log 2007
sux that 2 of ur plants whee male, hope u never busted open the sacs by accident..
-
Serps gro log 2007
Actually.... i think in one of those pix above of me with plant 3.... I think I see pollen on my finger..... if nomber 2 is a female, you think that she could get pollenated now? before she starts to flower?
-
Serps gro log 2007
I can only see male parts on plant #3? These were all planted at the same time? Are they the same strain?
-
Serps gro log 2007
each pistol that a female plant has the ability to produce a seed if it gets pollen on it seeing how your other plant really isnt flowering or has no pistols that can be seen it cant get pollinated if it happened to have a few pistols as in preflowers it would still only result in a few seeds probably less than 10.
-
Serps gro log 2007
Ok, so we know 1 and 3 are male, and we think 2 is female?
Yes, all three were germ'ed and planted at the same time and all three are fromt he same bag seed.....
Reason they are different sized is because number 1 was topped while a seedling, then a week later 2 was topped, and 3 was left alone.....
