playing music while high

I'm a drummer, and I swear I come up with the sweetest groves and the coolest rythyms when I've got a cannabis buzz going. Anyone other musicians have that experience?

I'm not sure if it just sounds better to me (but in reality sounds the same or worse), or if it actually *is* better playing. With alcohol, a lot of the time it sounds better to me, but it isn't actually better to a sober person. I'm gonna test this by having some buddies record me in their studio before being high and after being high, and then tell me what they think. They don't burn, so it should be a good test.

Anyone else ever tried this?

I went to my orchestra concert high, as we were playin' I had a big smile on my face the whoel time.

I know exactly what you mean man. I play synth and piano at uni when i'm jamming with my high mates and swear I utterly peak when i'm really blazed. It's the best feeling ever and I do play better too because I record every jam and listen back to it the next day.

I play drums at a friends too when i'm at home and find I also get better rhythms when i'm blazed. Music man, it's just the best thing :D !

I find that when I'm high I'm better at jamming and improvising. I've been playing guitar for almost 9 years, so I don't really see a difference anymore, playing sober or not.

I played piano in jazz band a couple of times, to my surprise I could read chord changes as quick as ever, It was fun.

I'm not so great at drums when high though, I tend to change beats to much or add way more fills than necessary.

i am in a hippie jam band, and we record a lot of our jams, and we get so caught up just grooving with a song for like 10 minutes, when we listen back it still sounds good, other people seem to think so too. god bless marijuana.

Yeah it works pretty well with guitar for me..

I like to do creative writing high sometimes.. so I find that a song can just come out of nowhere.. i'll get some pretty awesome chord progressions running.. then i'll lay the writing down as lyrics and jam in some mellow solos..

It's good but I very rarely write down what i'm doing on guitar cuz im too stoned to care about it.. so yeah.. alot of it gets lost.

I play guitar. Not only do I play better but I enjoy it a lot more when I'm high.

Cannabis:
Great for jamming and improv. If you're with a group of musicians that can go with the flow, it helps the flow.
Not as great in orchestral situations, where everyone has to play exactly what's written out. I end up bored.

For me, music and mj go hand in hand. Whether listening or playing. I've played guitar for 12 years now and I play better high than sober, and this is coming from my bandmates, and we are critical of each others playing.

Youre very right.. when stoned we are so much more creative... out of the box ideas just pop in the head and through the arms into the instrument it seems. However when you must play exactly what is written, it does get harder because you want to throw in a fill every fuckin 20 seconds lol. I try not to get bored but if the song is too easy then yea I get bored.

YES! I play guitar all the time when I'm high. It is the greatest feeling as you get right into it. I jam with another fellow and when we go to his place, he has this small ass room that we just smoke the fuck out. We go out to his garage and blast the shit.

As a mtter of fact, we'll be jamming in about an hour or so, then grilling some burgers...completly fried out of our skulls of course. :stoned:

We always jam when were high, make up random songs. If were at my house it's usually me on drums, someone on guitar and maybe vocals aswell. My friend wrote this pretty cool song when he was high called pass the dubbie(my username is to pay homage). We are born with this talent anyway, it's just when you get high it seems to want to come out without a struggle(hope theres no dirty minded people here or that may sound wrong).
