does anyone not like giving off that "stoner" vibe??

i try not to.
i smoke at least once a day but i can handle my highs pretty well, to the point where i won't look high to other kids (when i'm at skool..)

annyways, i just wouldn't like being labeled a "stoner", at least the typical lazy one. i wanna smoke like a stoner, but have none of the other stereotypes fit me.

i know a lotta kids even exaggerate stuff to seem more like a stoner, and they LOVE being "that stoner kid", but i wanna stay away from that.

and i have been able to do that for like half a year now.
the good thing is, kids see me and be like "eh, i guess weed doesn't mess u up at all. he does it all the time, and he's fine." so i've had several convert-ees.



anyone else try to not appear like the typical stoner? or r u happy w/ what the herb makes u? haha

I smoke the herb and act my natural self, let the others decide. Word spreads fast and everyone knows I smoke, but everyone knows I also do great in school and at work.

Im goin to have to say im happy with the way herb makes me, slows me down gives me a chance to think more before i speak lol, and i get those pretty red eyes, that slant all the way down lol.. occasionally i will get the munchies.. iv never had to hide my high.. and im glad..

apparently I give off the "he has a gun and a pocket full of heroin" vibe by the way the police in my new town have reacted to me, haven't talked to one of em yet without them either pointing their gun at me or holding their guns still in the holster asking me if I got anything sharp on me (needles) lol.. really I don't get it, most white people think I'm a hippy, but the police think I am a gun toting drug dealing junkie.... man the suburbs sure to a number on these pig's brains

yeah one of the very few bad parts about smoking weed is the stereotypes that come along with it. people think ur dumb cuz u smoke pot, shit im smarter than all of you! and the whole lazy thing. god im sick of that.

I don't like to appear like too much of a stoner.

In fact, I don't think I'mma wear my hippy shirt much any more 'cause it makes me feel like too much of a pot head. I mean, I am a pot head, but that doesn't mean I have to advertise it all the time.

I really hate the labeling. My own peers think I am stupid because I enjoy toking once in a while. Ironically, I take higher end classes in school than the people who stereotype, and I'm sure that statement applies to most of us on this forum.

I really hate the kids that try to make an image for themselves, always talking about how they get stoned and have pictures of them smoking joints on their myspaces. It makes us all look bad. Also, as much as I love "stoner movies," the media just enforces the pothead image even more. :(

Take me, I'm over 30 (yikes!) run my own business and I don't "look like a stoner" if you know what I mean. Anti-motivational syndrome my ass - I have to make time to pop in this place these days, I'm so busy with work :(

I don't make it obvious that I toke up, but everyone who knows me knows that I toke up and knows that I don't care if other people know that I toke up.

This thread almost makes me glad my only Marley shirt is down for the count. now about those birkenstocks...

most people no i smoke anyway but i dont make it obvious, i always look a bit stoned apparently but hey. im a bit lazy but im doin really well at college witch i think has changed a few peoples views on weed.

The only exception is when I wear my NORML shirt around campus. Surprisingly I get a lot of responses over it, and not just from the stoners. A lot of people are willing to talk and be educated, or at least debate. As long as you prove you know what you're talking about, people will listen.

Being a stoner is just something else that makes me who i am.

I cant really hide it. I mean I'm a hippie, most people see the dead shirt and just know.

During the day, I'm in a suit and tie. I'm just another faceless person working in a corporation. No one thinks I'm a stoner, nor do I ever bring it up.

Other than my tattoo, in general, I don't look like a stoner to the average person. I'm just a guy that smokes some weed, but otherwise I'm just a normal person that does normal things.

I've had more conversations this past week when I was stoned than when I was sober. Nobody noticed a thing. I am just a friendly guy taking his dog for a walk. I wouldn't say that I try to stay away from the stoner stereotypes, but for the most part they don't apply to me. There is a noticeable lack of motivation, but that was already there before I started smoking. ;)

It seems too me you care to much what other people think of you. I believe you are being overly self conscious. Each to their own, however. I have no reason to be ashamed of smoking cannabis, if people hate, then let them. I shall continue to love. Peace to all, and may those who wish to toke, be in possesion of copius amounts of ganja.

I was very self conscious about being referred to as a "stoner" and was very weary of whom knew I smoked around and tried not to smoke around people who'd be highly judgmental towards me for doing so.. But you know what? I soon thought "fuck it" and gave in, and yeah... I got the stereotype for a bit... I got the "gym junkie now true junkie" for a while.

Now, people accept the fact I smoke Ganja and it's never brought up anymore, and when I'm high around them (which isn't often anymore as I smoke usually alone at home to relax or sometimes have a big weekend sesh - rare though) they'd know and not really say anything besides, "aha, you high man?".

It just comes down to difference and change... People are always going to be subjective to difference or change, but soon it becomes a norm for them and it won't be such a 'hot topic' anymore; just like new hair styles

I've smoked basically everyday for about 7 months now, and after 3-4 months I noticed me going a bit "groggy" I guess, but then somehow i've adjusted and smoking doesn't get me in a low anymore... We'll see how it is when I decide to have a long term break though :wtf:

I think it's more the fact people think you are turning into a 'LOSER' as people directly associate someone who smokes weed as a "stoner" and instantly a stoner is described as a lazy no hoper etc.

My mates thought I was probably going downhill and it was a bit of a surprise for me to take it up I guess, but through the curing of time, my friends have learned to understand it hasn't impacted on me negatively in any way.

My school, work and health aspects have all improved immensely during this time to, not saying the weed has helped, but it didn't interfere.

Anyways, I'm going out to the patio to cook some chicken and smoke some bongs now :)

i act myself but im usually high around 2 times atleast in 1 day in school so peopl always see me with red eyes no1 says much but most know im high or trippin on sumthing, but its already gotten past the point of any1 being like "look at that dumb stoner" or stuff like that they mostly dont give a fuc k and will lauggh if they see me trip out or sumthing and i usually dont give a fuck and just trip outand enjoy my high i class haHA

i ussually dont give off a stoner vibe unless im sober, like in my first period this past semester i went to school high every week 3/5 days and ussually the only time people ask me if im high is when im sober because im not a morning person and for some reason smoking herb is the only thing that wakes me up and gets me in the mood for school. Like if i go to school high i think better because im on my toes and shit and also i do all my work. but for some reason when im sober at school im ussually burned out from the night before and im super tired and everyone ask me an i high and im just like naw im sleepy. then i laugh and say some shit like why when ever im high everyone thinks im sober but the only times im sober is when people assume im high. but yeah like 3 of my friends in that clase smoke and are always high too so its not a big deal if people known i'm high i could care less.

but for the lazy stereotype i always bust peoples bubbles. well really i cant even think of the last time someone used it on me. Im always active high or not, i love playing basketball. even when im high its hard for people to stop me and i still hold the same amount of energy that i have. I believe smoking is like a mind over matter thing, ussually the only people that have a stereotype for them are the people that would do something and just let the high control them.

Yeah I don't like the stoner stereotype.. the whole 'afroman' conception. Some people really buzz off it, not me.

My whole town basically knows ima stoner. People I havent even met tell me they've heard I smoke and sometimes it bites me in the ass cause it gets back to my mom and makes for a uncomfortable talk between her and another parent, but its all good. 5mok3 w33d.

Same. Personally, I started smoking weed with a select few people out of the people I hang round with. Now, we openly smoked bongs, blunts, spliffs etc. together. However, I decided that I preferred to smoke 100% alone. Now, I'm called a stoner by most of my friends, and i've even had heated debates with friends about cannabis. I am not a fan of stereotypes in general, and the typical lazy stoner stereotype doesn't fit me or any of my stoner friends very well.

hippies are hard to find around here...i'm one of the few...and i know that a lot of the uber conservative people on my campus come to that conclusion about me when they see me.

yeah, i can be a bit lazy at times, but i'm actually a pretty good student, and in a very intensive study international studies program on campus.

but sometimes i do feel uncomfortable, because i know that certain people that i don't want them to know that i smoke, well, i know that they suspect that i do. i really wouldn't have a problem with people knowing or suspecting, but i just don't want things to get back to professors or my parents...maybe i'm just being paranoid, but i could totally see something like that happening

Like most other said, I'm so often, i can handle my highs very well, and people don't usually know I'm high.... (i mean I've been stoned at school everyday for 3 years,) and I've never been caught, or even accused of being high while in class.

But besides that, everyone KNOWS i smoke alot of weed, but they can never tell if im high or sober..... because when im high i look sober (

i give off the stoner vibe whether i want to or not. I listen to music that was popular 10-20 years ago, i kind of sway when i walk, i'm relaxed all the time, and i have long ass hair that goes half way down my back(im a guy.)But what annoys me is when people act like im stoned all the time or that im stupid because weed has killed my brain. Plus i don't get respect from people except other stoners because all the straightedge people act like i don't care.

that's really true. i hate that pot has been associated with 'amotivational syndrome'.. anyone who makes that link has not looked at the actual data which was all retrospective.

for me, my 'vibe' when getting high completely depends on the strain of leaf. the herb i'm smoking now kind of peps me up actually. it's crazy to me that its even the same species of plant as the last bag i bought. the effects across the two are as different as a cup of coffee vs. a cold beer

actually someone asked me yesterday (when i was baked) if i was running on espresso..

hmm thc in your coffee. now that would be wild.

Haha, I hadn't checked into this thread for a while, that's a good quote.

I was taking a lot of flak from a friend of mine last night about how I'm smoking a bowl a day and it's making me stupid and wierd (he was joking, he's a smart guy as well and he smokes occasionally, but he likes to bust my balls). After a bit of that I'd had enough, and I told him flat-out: right now I'm smoking to kill time - time that would otherwise be spent being depressed. Marijuana's helped me in a lot of ways - it's opened a lot of psychological and philosophical doors that would otherwise have remained shut, mellowed me out, made me a friendlier and more social person, helped me eat enough to support my body's ravenous metabolism and physically demanding lifestyle, etc. etc. It's done nothing but make me better off for smoking it.
