Yeah, I was really really high when I heard some of Lil Wayne's new shit. Now my iPod is overloaded with all the mixtapes and stuff lol. He does have good lyrical skills and nice punch lines, plus to me he's a lot more different than most main stream rappers which is what I like, I hate to see a lot of the same shit.
Word. Lil Wayne is one of the few mainstream rappers I actually like to listen to and download.Quote:

Oh, and if you want to hear some other amazing flow and lyrics, listen to Gangstar. It takes some getting used to, cuz it's a bit different, but nobody can say that his flow and lyrics aren't the bomb :).
Oh, and don't forget about Wu Tang ;).
for me it seems like lil wayne could be so much better than he is
its like he wastes his talents on songs that all sound the same but once in a while I still find a song of his I like
Wu-Tang clan ain't nuttin to fuck wit!Quote:

By the way, these guys aren't all about "pimping, bling bling, selling drugs" and stupid shit like that. These guys talk about real shit, and not about having shitloads of money and riding in caddies, etc. These guys are the real deal when it comes to rap...
I liked him a lot better when he was like 16 or whatever and already hanging with the big dogs of Cash Money. Now that's he's like what, 21-22, his albums reflect some "maturity" I'm not totally down with.
The lyrics have definitely matured as far as content, but it's like I don't really know if I want to hear him rapping about some chick compared to songs like Shine or even a more recent Go DJ.
Still though, songs off The Carter 2 like Fireman and even Receipt still sound good every now and then, plus the beats are still insane. That's prolly the best part about his work now, to be honest. Still can't beat a Three 6 beat though lol.
cash money, young money
lil wayne da man.
yeah, 3 6 mafia is one of my favorites too.Quote:

They're my favorite rappers/rap groups, in no particular order.
LOL, I've been listening to a few Lil Wayne tracks off this new mixtape 'Street Dream'. He talks absolute nonsense, but it's funny as hell. He makes no sense most of the time...his bars never overlap, but I still enjoy listening to him in some songs.
Me and my friend put him in a group with Cam, Jim Jones, and Juelz...basically the 'make no sense...just make sure it rhymes' group...still enjoyable, as we have a great time laughing the whole time rather than taking anything they say seriously.
A funny ass song from that mixtape where he's fucked up (on weed and syrup) is "Put Some Keys On That" a 'remix' to Throw Some D's. I laughed through the whole song.
LiveMixtapes.com - Free Streaming Mixtapes: Get It LIVE! is where you can find the mixtape and listen to it from the site, but it's only half the "Put Some..." song, so you should DL that one on a LW-like program.
"Fuck Tha World" is actually a very good Wayne song though. And his verse on Cam's "Suck it or Not" always has me in stitches laughing.
I don't really listen to his mainstream shit. Da Drought 3 is one of my fav mix tapes right now. Also Blow: The I Can't Feel My Face Prequel is one that has a lot of good tracks. Rewind is one of my personal favs from that. One thing that's funny is that if you notice he is always high, no really just pay attention lol.Quote:

After that I really stopped listening to him until earlier this year. He is my fav rapper because well honestly no one else is doing shit that I like and it gets repetitive listening to Tupac since he's dead and nothing new is coming out so yeah. My 2nd fav rapper though is Juelz Santana.
Oh btw here are a few tracks, those that say he really isn't good just tell me if you think these tracks are hot
BMJR2
Walk it out freestyle
The Burn
Skys the limit
Be Me

Yeah I'm not one for rap, but I do love Lil Waynes music.
And biggie.
Both excellent shit.
He's got a funny voice and some good punchlines but the rest of his ability is throwing out random nursery rhymes...
But hey, to each his own
"I don't wanna be right if getting high is wrong, my eyes so low I look like I'm from Hong Kong"

by the way...if you're looking for a good lil' wayne song download walk it off...probably his best song

i mean the metaphores he uses are so amazing they flow wit the beat and lyrics(find some other mainstreet rapper than can combine lyrical skill with the beat instead of the beat bieng the main part of the song cause artist#1 cant rap so he has a tighter beat to save his ass)
even his older shit is good (lights out cd)

WTF you talking about son? What does your post have to do with? He says "put some keys on that bitch", meaning ki's, meaning kilo's of coca...do YOU know what he means? But, what the fuck does that have to do with anything I said?!? I just said to DL the song...wow...you're the one sounding like a bitch. You just mad, because I'm right about Wayne's ability actually being laughable most of the time? Some of the time he's actually trying to be funny, but most of the time he is just saying such nonsense that's it's laugh out loud hilarious...which I think is fine because it's entertaining to me. I would question myself if I actually took what he said seriously.Quote:

Seriously if there's one thing good about weezy its not his lyrics, its his energetic flow
My bad? I didn't know you were 'joking' and honestly, I didn't know what you were referring to, that's why I got a little testy, sorry. Calling me a young female when you're talking about Weezy having 'amazing metaphors'...haha yeah...good one [that's a joke, well not really].Quote:

13 year olds and their love for unskillful rap. Really, though. The mainstream stuff like Lil' Wayne and what-not is mostly liked by middle schoolers. No offense to anyone, it's just something that I have noticed. And of course, there are exceptions ;).
But seriously, AgainstAllOdds, stop being a fuckhead. There's no need to argue about how certain musicians have better lyrics than others. Learn to calm down. Maybe smoke a joint, and chill. Who cares? :) Pot is here for you, my friend. Smoke it, and stop being an angry child.
How do you compare a grown man with lyrical skills like his to middle school listeners. Sorry but I don't know any middle schoolers that listen to Wayne that could even begin to grasp what he talks about. They might just listen to it and say "yeah it sounds good" but I can't help that he's in the lime light right now and attracts everyone from people who listen to more than just the beat (like me), and those who are just trend whores. To say something like that you must not appreciate hard work. No he's not some great rock legend with real musical skill such as with the guitar and all that like Grateful Dead or who ever you may like.. but you can't just down-talk him like he has no skill. Lil Wayne has a giant discography that is still growing now no offense to YOU either but to call him unskillful I'd have to ask you to show me what your lyrics look like.
MfQr or w/e ur name is you suck...lil wayne is 100% GAURUNTEED better than every rapper you named...I listened to everysong of everyone...none were good.
mfgr sorry for calling you out in that other post lol. I just really overreact rather it be with sports, music, anything that requires skill when some one doesn't acknowledge it and actually sort of disrespects it. No disrespect to you at all honestly but I'm sorry it's impossible to even use the words "unskillful rap" and Lil Wayne in the same paragraph. Don't get me wrong, I honestly don't like his material like when he FIRST came out but most of everything after 500 Degreez was good even some stuff before that, but for the most part the newer shit is better. Lol it's actually funny to look at him when he first came out. He was a funny lookin' fucker xD.
Dude, I'm 17 and I love Wu-tang and Nas and stuff like that.. that's REAL good shit.. it doesnt take an older person to know that.... just a smart one lol.. lil wayne is funny with his style which makes it cool..
But this song.. 'Feel like Dying' from the Drought 3 is hilarious! "Playing touch football on Marijuana street.. err.. Marijuana field" LMAO he's obviously on some surd and weed... the beat is hot but what he rhymes about is ridiculous.. still enjoy it.. and he always talks about money and killing people.. although very entertaining.. c'mon.. wtf is up with hip-hop?
