Sheehan calling it quits in protest movement

From staff reports
Cindy Sheehan, whose anti-war protests near President Bush??s Crawford-area ranch catapulted her into the national spotlight in 2005, said Monday that she??s leaving the protest to others.
??This is my resignation letter as the ??face?? of the American anti-war movement,? she wrote on the Web site Daily Kos. ??I am going to take whatever I have left and go home. I am going to go home and be a mother to my surviving children and try to regain some of what I have lost.?
The 49-year-old peace activist, who became the face of the anti-war movement after her son Casey was killed in Iraq, also wrote that she was leaving Crawford, including the peace camp she named for her son.
??Camp Casey has served its purpose,? she said. ??It??s for sale. Anyone want to buy five beautiful acres in Crawford, Texas? I will consider any reasonable offer. I hear George Bush will be moving out soon, too. . . which makes the property even more valuable.?

Rosie quits, Charlie Sheen quits, now Cindy quits..............it's like a republican wet-dream in the making. LOL
Now if we can get them names changed to Pelosi, Reid, and Kerry.......I'd have to buy a bottle of Scotch to celebrate!

yes but anyone that would celebrate the departure of a woman who lost her son in a war not to defend his own country but to invade another and who was so sorely mistreated by a government that cares so little about the lives of its citizens that it would shit all over a woman who made a sacrafice such as this is pretty monsterous... i unnow anti-war, pro-war it is pretty disgusting to demonize someone who was forced to give up her son to the shithole desert hell of iraq...

As far as I'm concerned she shit on her sons grave all for fame. He wasn't drafted and there is a reason why her family disowned her and her husband divorced her ass. She is either a disgrace to motherhood or she just went nuts and is in need of psychiatric help.

i suppose she probably went a little nutzo but i think you gotta cut her a little slack in that department considering she had to live through her son dieing... i unnow i kinda feel like that pretty much trumps most things

Boy, thats one cold ass thing to say about a mother who lost her son to a pre-emptive unilateral war, a war chosen by some of the most evil men on the planet. I wonder if your son had lost his life in Iraq how you'd feel?

My son was in the service and spent his time. IF something would have happened I wouldn't have made an ass out of myself or disgraced his name.
My statement might be considered cold but it's the truth. You were in the service and know of the bond between soldiers. His mother did him NO honor in any of her actions. He joined freely and spent time with his brothers/sisters in arms....
??He was very proud to serve for his country and to help the people of Iraq. [It is] very strong in our hearts what our country is doing for Iraq.?

I think what she did required a lot of fortitude and personal sacrifice. She was trying to stop the insanity so other mothers wouldn't have to experience her loss. Since she started her quest, a couple a thousand more mothers have to grieve over their sons and daughters. I have no Idea what noble mission we are attempting in Iraq other than to make oil companies richer and supply cannon fodder for the war contractors, And, Oh yeah, now that I'm on Board, to RV the Iraqi Dinar. This is like a hedge bet for me. If by some infintesible chance Iraq stabilizes, I'm on board. A one in a million chance, so my odds are about the same as lotto.

If it happens it happens if it don't it don't........can't say we didn't try. Fact is that area is so vital I can't see us just walking away and leaving it for groups like Al-Queda.
As for Cindy........I don't think her son would be very happy about her actions, or should I say reaction. RIght from her quote, ??He was very proud to serve for his country and to help the people of Iraq. [It is] very strong in our hearts what our country is doing for Iraq.? ........this is why the rest of the family bailed out on her.

That is a lot more patriotic than my thoughts on Iraq. And as far as her family bailing on her, shame on them. I'm pretty sure her son would have been damn proud of his mother, at least she got off her dead ass and let the government know she didn't appreciate them killing young men and women for oil.

This is one time.......LOL....one time of many we'll just have to agree to disagree. I think she did her son an injustice and I don't think that he'd appreciate his mothers actions.
Well, the weather in ripe and I gotta ride........catch up with ya later bro!

lol I always hear the the ME is a vital region but last time I checked it was a desert shit hole sitting on top of billions of gallons of oil... how about we go back to ignoring it... OOOOH or we could just pave over it and make a 4000 lane highway between Europe and Asia, spiffy

Yeah, that will certainly get the draft age folks out in the streets. These college age kids today have no sense of urgency about the killing in Iraq, Myself, I'd be glad to see the draft. Might put a few million folks parked on the white house lawn screaming at the asshole resident to stop the insanity. Kinda worked for Viet Nam, after 7 years, hey only 3 more years and we'll have been in Iraq longer than Viet Nam, and no-one seems to see the similarity. I dont think we were building a half billion dollar embassy in Viet Nam though, Hmmmmm.

Ironic on how the ONLY ones in Washington to mention the draft are the dems.

sounds like the only thing she finally realized is that democrats aren't going to stop anything bush has done for the last 6 1/2 years...just like bush didn't undo anything clinton did, he just expanded it and further funded it...
so she finally realized that there is no left and right...they're all the same...
'I'm not giving up,' Sheehan tells radio host Schultz David Edwards and Muriel Kane
Raw Story
Wednesday May 30, 2007
http://www.prisonplanet.com/Pictures...heehan_VFP.jpg On Tuesday, peace activist Cindy Sheehan appeared on The Ed Schultz Show to talk about her recent declaration that she is leaving the anti-war movement.
Sheehan starts off the radio interview sounding tired and dispirited. She explains that she has kept pushing herself because "I can't say no, especially when people are dying" but that the recent failure of the Democrats to vote against the war caused her to conclude, "I think I've gone as far as I can in this movement."
Sheehan's tone then becomes stronger and more positive as she looks to the future, making it clear that she is not giving up activism. She says, "We're gonna see what other direction we can come at it, because obviously the direction that we're going has stopped being effective. ... We're gonna close up the factory, we're gonna retool, and we're gonna see how we can come at this problem from a different angle."
Sheehen's strongest criticism is directed at the Democratic Party. She says, "It's all about the presidential elections, it's all about politics. And the Democrats have to stop being careful and stop playing politics with human flesh and blood and they're going to have to be courageous. ... If we're gonna get a Democrat in the White House that acts like a Republican, what's the difference?"
It is clear from the interview that Sheehan hopes that as she stands down, millions more anti-war activists will stand up. "I'm not giving up," she concludes, promising to announce her new campaign within the next two months.
