coconut oil, lecithen, alcohol
So my chemistry friend showed me how to do a "100%" (as he called it) thc extraction for eating.
Basically, the principle is thc bonds easier when their is more saturated fat present (coconut oil) as well as lipids (soy lecithin) which aid in the transfer process from plant matter to oil.
I heat up buds (1 oz) in 1 cup coconut oil, and 3 tbs soy lecithen. Emulsification begins, and I gently heat the contents for 15 minuets. Then I add HALF teaspoon of vodka, which causes a chemical reaction. (thc 'jumps') from the plant matter its attached to to the fat molecules of the coconut oil.
be careful not to add to much alcohol, over a hot flame with oil,
it is an explosion waiting to happen
anyways
I had a question for all the scientists out their, could I achieve a cleaner extraction with a candy thermometer? i.e. getting the oil to exactly the prime Temperature for extraction, then adding the alcohol....
it seems to me as well, since thc is fat soluble, that I could just stir THC into coconut oil and then leave it for a few months? havent tried...
thx:cool:

hm yeah I'd like to know the exact temperature to heat the coconut oil.. I'd really try this.
did it work for you, and what setting (on the stove) did you heat up the mixture in?
btw could u use half a teaspoon of 151 rum instead of the weaker vodka?

coconut oil, lecithen, alcohol
i heated on low temp
it worked very well, people i gave it too fell asleep too
and you can use any nice alcohol such as 151...

does this process smell up the house?

unfermented soy isnt such a good thing.. high isoflavones, as well as other stuff....

it lowers cholesterol (soy lecithin) helps your system absorb fats, and has other valuble nutriesnts. the bag I got even claims its a great salad topping...besides for the extraction you only need a tablespoon or 2

so I'm guessing if this is a 100 percent extract.. then 1/28 of this would be equivalent to consuming a gram or a bit less of marijuana. also straining the marijuana from this is hard as oil is very thick and some of it would stay in the plant matter.......

I wonder if I can actually just take a spoonful of this and with the bud and it would have affects on me.. not needing to be cooked, into brownies or whatever, like cannabutter.
also about soy:
There are no studies that show soy-derived lecithin has significant effects on cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood.
according to wiki.
also, interesting website about soy lecithin being toxic waste..

also I do have a question about the straining... I dont think you can even strain the weed from the oil since it's very thick.. unless you do it with a metal strainer maybe.. but it'd leave lots of oil on the buds.

btw its heat the coco oil for 15 mins with the bud, then Afterwards add the vodka?

u know I read somewhere that a good temp is keep it under 100 C for making butter.
but I dunno you could also go for the trying to decarb it while making it at 245 or so but never going above 255

man I made this yesterday.. decarbed the bud first in the oven (half an O) and heated up half a cup of coco oil on the stove on low until it melted. then put the bud in and let it heat up for 15 mins. I put it to high low because I thought the temp would be too low (it was like at 170-200) so it went up high to like 225-235, then I thought that'd be too high so I put it back down to like 200-220. I used a candy thermometer. at the end put about half a teaspoon of vodka and it simmered.. took it off the stove when simmering was done. then cooled.
I didn't use soy lecithin.
anyway.. I hadn't ingested weed in about 3 months or so.. I took one teaspoon of this.. and I thought it didn't do anything but thenI got dizzy about 45 mins later, and then felt a little high... 1-2 hrs later I still felt it.. but dayum yeah it wasn't an intense high but I felt soemthing. I only ingested about 1/3 of a gram's equivalent of the reggie weed I made this with but it felt like I smoked half a j of it and lasted a long time. went to a restaurant and noticed it mroe there but that was like 3 hrs after I took this. the 'high' i guess it was.. lasted me like 4-5 fcking hrs, but wasn't too strong.. I didn't want it to be too strong which is why I only took a teaspoon (I got work today).
so anyway.. that was yesterday.
I think the sh*t worked.. I'll try variations of this tho to get it more potent.
thanks!

actually 220 is decarboxylation temperature anything 230 or above would burn the plant.

I wonder about this because the plant is burned when smoked and obviously the smoke has useable THC in it. I have extracted into coconut oil alone at temps high enough to brown the greens....it fizzes a bit, but after straining out the (browns) I end up with a powerful MMJ coconut oil. I usually add about 50% more Olive Oil to help prevent solidifying which makes dosing with a
dropper or measuring spoon easier. I use 1/4-1/2 teaspoon (2-4 eyedroppers) for a dose....starting with 1/2 cup coconut oil and 4-5 grams material. Has a great flavor.

Well, because of the cholesterol in the coconut oil, I do this with olive oil, but was not aware that the ETOH would cause the chemical reaction. Olive oil has very low saturated fats in it, imperative for someone with hypercholesterolemia like myself. BUT if the ETOH causes a reaction, I must try this on my next batch!

how could you make a topical oil for pain relief? does anyone know? A guy gave me a small amount to try made from leaf, and it worked GREAT! But i'm out and now i'm trying to figure out how to make this stuff. Can't afford the $25 thedude wants for a small lip gloss sized roller bottle of it.

Use the search feature, a while back someone posted a thread about making canna Tiger Balm. Don't remeber how just remember seeing the post.
Good luck and let us know how you did.
