Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
a forwarded pic of Reaper's current cabinet grow: all females, naturally - he says this pic was taken at Day 44, from seed, just switched to 12/12 light schedule yesterday - one Willie Nelson (the topped one, in foreground) two Dutch Passion White Widows, and two of the strain he's developing, "Daddys Girl" - enjoy !

just heard again from Reaper - he usually vegges for two months, before switching to flowering cycle, but he's in a hurry to empty his cabinet - he took 40 cuttings from that Willie Nelson before he took that pic - he says he gave away 40 clones to other med-users in his area, "HIS way of getting even with money-grubbing, crooked-ass seedbanks that won't back up their products" (unquote) - he doesn't get mad (well, sometimes, he does :D ), he gets 'even' - :D :D :D cantankerous old bastard

Now I'm curious, what is "Daddy's Girl?" Using word association, I'm guessing "Cinderella99 x ??" I don't know the x factor.

i think all he said was hes developing 'daddys girl'.....he gave no linage

'Daddy's Girl' is what Reaper calls ALL his plants, lol :D (his girlfriend calls HIM 'Big Daddy') :wtf: - but, he is hoping this one will be worth keeping - he isn't a 'breeder', he just tried crossing two very similar plants, as an experiment - so far, the couple people growing it out say it already seems to be completely stable - I have two in my cabinet, now, and they look identical to each other, Reaper has a dozen more, all identical - he crossed a female Joey Weed 'NL99' to a male Motarebel 'Killa Queen 2006' - roughly speaking, it should be something like 50% Cinderella99, 25% Northern Lights, and 25% G13 - I'm aware the genetics can't be simplified that easily, but you get the idea - won't be harvesting it for another couple months, but we'll see what develops

I've been following the Reaper's work for over a year. Knowing he's a fan of joey weed strains, I made an educated guess that his stuff has some Cinderella. So I was both right and wrong...
Freewheelin'--always good to see pics. Do you see Reapers strains ending up in Bay Area dispenaries? Seeds, clones, etc?

ahh, i see, i was unaware you had some back ground info on that:thumbsup:

whoa ! :D - Reaper would be the first to tell you, he is NOT a breeder, and doesn't have 'strains', to speak of ... he's just a personal med-grower for himself, and crossed a couple of his favorites, to save $$$ on seeds - he makes no claim to expertise, he's been growing herb for about 40 years, but he is just a simple dirt farmer, nuthin' fancy - he doesn't have a caregiver permit, so he doesn't transfer clones, etc - I'm sure he appreciates the kind words - sorry

a new photo of 13 Willie Nelson clones, (their second day out of the bubble-cloner), and into soil - 'Reaper' TIP: if you are using a group of lightweight SOLO-type cups like these, or styrofoam cups, etc., wrap a piece of plain tape around them, as in the photo - works wonders for preventing tipped-over cups -
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
Good tip:thumbsup:I love those cups as well...makes transplanting easy, cut down and across to open cups or just slip the plants out like they're already greased!...no exploding like styrofoam. I read somewhere that taproots love that extra depth starting out as well!
So question...seeing as they're clones, I assume you like Willie Nelson? How is it...is it everything his name lives up to?

Daze, I haven't finished my Willie Nelson mother yet - she is in her second week of 12/12 right now - only ONE of ten seeds germinated, so I quickly took lots of clones, as I have already lost a lot of $$$ on this one - this is the sole growth from the garbage 'Barney's Farm/Reeferman' Willie Nelson seeds I bought from Growshop Alien - (all three ignored several e-mails from me asking for some sort of product support, that's why I bitch so much about it :D) - anyway, I have taken a total of 43 clones from her, and now she is growing out - she is very healthy and doing well - the topping and heavy cutting for clones had no ill effects on her - I topped her at a month old, and she is now about 3 feet tall (indoors) I'm guessing she will put on another foot or two - one thing about Willie, she sure likes to eat - needed more nitrogen and potassium than all my other plants - I will keep updating the grow, and have a smoke report when cured - :smokin:

Nice. Very nice!
Wille's a nute hog, eh? She looks like she has it in her sat heritage to grow as a total monster as well!!!

Frank, how long were the cuttings under long light...18/6 or 24/0? Did you tent them with plastic or a dome or just straight under the lights?
Curious to make the leap from seeds to cloning soon...
I'm iffy on Growshop as well...because of the Reaper's rave reviews, I'm committed to trying HempDepot next time:thumbsup:, waiting for c99 to be in stock, also considering NL99, Apollo11 or AK-47 (tough to narrow down)...Besides NL99, are any of those easy to clone?
thanks,

sorry..guess you mentioned a bubble cloner...I'll have to look in to that!

SIMPLE HOME-MADE BUBBLE CLONER : plastic box (painted black to lightproof the roots), aquarium airpump, airstone (or porous airhose like I use), aquarium heater (maintains 80 degrees), and 'Ready-Rooter' plugs - I bought a second box, just to use it's bottom section for a 'humidity dome' - so far, I've had 100% success with this cloner, (and I always had terrible results when trying to clone the 'regular' way, I just didn't have the knack) - I put ONE drop of Superthrive in a gallon of pH-neutral water, run it about 18 hours a day, and let them drain overnight, humidity dome ON - (I do remove the humidity dome a couple times a day, for a few minutes to 'air out') - the clones are under only a WEAK light, I just sit mine on a window sill, out of direct light (we are building a root system here, not needing photosynthesis for growth) - it's 'no-touch' cloning, just let it be, until roots grow through the Rapid-Rooter plugs - about 8 days on my Willies - EASY way to clone

Great post!:thumbsup:You've given me all the ingredients to google and track down...I may have some follow up q's later...thanks for the pics.

Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
FWF...how did you bore those holes? They look like almost perfect circles!
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
sorry man, I warned you there might be questions :D...
...are those rapid rooter plugs submersed in water? They don't crumble apart?
Of all my questions...that is the most burning...thanks!
ps..unlike many...I do read a LOT and from other sites. Other examples I've seen look like they just put cuttings into the tubing, no rapid rooter plugs...but you did make me want to buy them if nothing else, than for germinating seeds:thumbsup:

I drilled the holes with a hole saw, in my drill - they come with 4 or 5 sizes for about $10, if I remember right, I've had it a long time - I drilled inch-and-an-eighth holes, as the plugs are 1.5", so they hold themselves snugly in place - they will be about halfway thru the lid, sticking below, maybe 1/2" - one gallon of water covers my hose, and water level is about 4" below the plugs - the bubbles still get them plenty wet - OK! you're on your own now, good luck

an update from the Image Reaper: Reaper's 13 Willie Nelson clones, 9 days in soil cups - they look a little droopy because they were just watered, and misted - his big cabinet is currently full, and these need to get under the big lamp ASAP - right now they are just under a big CFL security light, and it isn't nearly as good as his old 48" flouro tubes - but, growing space is at a premium now, so we do what we can do ...
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
Willie Nelson? Never heard of it. What will they come up with next.
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
Waylon Jennings next ???

Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
Willie Nelson....shouldn't be surprised I guess but I am, lol. The clones look nice and healthy. Is Willie a sativa or indica? And technically shouldn't it be Wilma Nelson? :stoned:
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
Willie Nelson :
Quote :
"Willie Nelson is an F1 hybrid between Vietnamese and Highland Nepalese. This was bred specifically for the man it's named after, a good ol boy who likes old school sativas, so we combined the best of old school and new school to create Willie Nelson. You'll be singing along to an old Willie song in about 10 weeks. Finishes quick outdoors for a strong sativa, and has good mold resistance. Good yield, sweet and sour taste, extra cerebral in effect. Inside Finish Time: 10-12 weeks / Outside Finish Time: late Oct. / Variation: 3 / Odor Level: 3.5 / Mold Resistance: 4 / Yield: 5 / Ease of Growth: 5"
Unquote :
Our Opinion, so far :
although it is supposed to be extremely potent, we don't recommend this seed to anyone, as there was so much in-fighting between the breeder, retailers, etc., that the credibility of the strain was ruined, in my opinion - we struggled to get ONE seed to germinate, and it came from an OPENED breeder-package, from Growshop Alien - we would personally avoid anything from either Barney's (the retailer), or Reeferman (the breeder) - both have very sketchy reputations (reputations, in my opinion, that they deserve) our experiences with Growshop Alien have been 'mixed' :wtf:
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
Thanks for the info Frank. Pretty complete if you ask me. Yeah, one seed just isn't a bucketload is it? I haven't tried any of the seedbanks you mentioned but will keep the info in mind.
Do like the singing a Willie song in ten weeks part.....:D
Thanks :)
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
some grow logs I have read, indicate the flowering period will be more like 12-14 weeks for Willie (Wilma?) :D - that's pretty typical, though, most statistics tend to be on the optimistic side :smokin:
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
So I take it you guys are sativa people.....you must have quite the patience. I can barely wait 6-8 weeks and I'm still probably cutting things short. of course i'd probably be sleeping through a Willie song rather than singing to it because of the indica (ie...quick) tendencies. ;)
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
yeah, we're old-school geezers :hippy: - I like my active sativas, but I know a lot of folks who get better results with couchlock indicas - different strokes, I guess - I've been smoking for over 40 years, and even average indicas floor me - I'm a lightweight with indicas, gimme my sativas :stoned:
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
Different strokes for sure. All I used to know about cannabis was "indica" and "sativa" and I couldn't have told you what the difference was. Growing has been such an eye opener...I have some haze plants that i'd like to grow at some point but it would have to be outside because of the height issues etc etc. I'll keep an eye on your "Willie" (:D) and see how these plants come out.

here's Day 38 of flowering for my mixed-grow ... just inside the doorway, my Willie Nelson is on the right, heavily into bondage ;), and the one on the left is 'Daddy's Girl', a hybrid I've been tinkering with for awhile ... the single-cola plant close-up is Daddy's Girl ... not seen are a couple White Widows, a couple of 'Smiley Skunk' (a great gift of unknown origin), and another Daddy's Girl ... I anticipate harvest of Daddy's Girl and White Widows around Day 60 ? ... the Willie may go another month, as will the Smiley Skunks (they are younger than the rest) ... I need them all out of my cabinet ASAP, so my Willie Nelson clones can go under the big lamp ... then, I can get back to work with Daddy's Girl ... after awhile, this hobby is a lot like w-o-r-k (nasty 4-letter word):wtf: ... that's life
-
Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
Those willies look like some tall drinks of water. Get back to work on Daddy's girl doing what?

Image Reaper's current grow pic ...
hi, Weedhound  ... it's premature for me to predict right now, but this home-made hybrid of mine 'looks' like she could be special ... considering I haven't even finished growing her, 'looks' don't mean shit, LOL :D ... but, she shows some characteristics during growing that really have me hopeful ... IF, she is a nice potent smoke, then, I will start another generation, and see how her stability is, start back-crossing her if necessary ... at this point, I suspect she is going to be pretty stable, but what do I know ? ... I'm just making educated guesses here (and, I'm stoned a lot, so much for 'educated guesses')
