OK, I need some opinions here, please.
What up,
I know that males "usually" grow faster, bigger, and show sex before the females...right? Ok, well I have two babies that I am completely unsure of.
Both have been growing for bout 6 weeks now, and one is about 5-7inches tall and very full. The other, however is close to 18inches and spindley, but is growing the secondarys in the nodes.
They are both in a window catching natural light, both were planted at the same time. I am using the window because they are going outside soon.
Do I expect the taller of the two to become "male-ish"? Or...am I depleating the smaller one of something?? All the rest of my plants are pretty damn close to same size and density, and are already at their final resting places(already planted). Should I do something before planting them out of doors??
I know it is WAY too early to determine sex, or even guess...I am just looking for some advice/support.
Thanks,
Pockets

Hi Pocket i have the same here with my grow, i have 4 plants, 2 of which are tall and thin with internodes shooting everywhere, and the other 2 are shorter, and have fatter leaves. They are NL so maybe it`s just the varyation of genetics, or the shorter weeds are girls.
Good topic dude, i`ll look forward to seeing some of the replies.

do you have a photo? Are the both the same types of seeds? I have an MK plant doing the same thing.....three of them actually and they are all females so I know it isn't the male issue. One just seems to be the slowest poorest growing plant I've ever seen while the other two are way, WAY ahead....all three in the same environment. I'm wondering if it is a genetic thing as splat said.....

Weedhound are they Indica or Sativa ? Just curious.

There could be a few different reasons for the difference in growth. Are they the same strain? Is there a shadow in part of the window they are in? It is really hard to say. Sometimes they just grow differently from each other.

They are both cronic#1. I believe they are both recieving the same amount of light, at least, nothing to make that much of a diff. Weedhound, I think you may have hit it...I was thinking "runt" too...from now on she(or he:( ) shall be named "Runt". I dont know, that little plant may yeild a pound. Wishful thinking ofcourse, but it dont hurt to tell the plant that!:D
Splat...how old are your plants? You too, weedhound, just curious.

Mine are Master Kush fem seeds.. and there are no differences in the setup that I can see lighting, nutes etc all exactly the same. Splat all I know is that MK's are an indica/sativa mix....they seem more indica to me just by the shape but that's what the ad said.
Yeah....photos Pockets....we love those!!! :) ;)

Gotcha weedhound...Ill snap a couple at the lil buggers tonight. If you are interested in seeing one of my best grows ever, search the forums for "EmTpockets" as my name, and "Pics", or "Trickybitch" (My last girls name...dont ask). She was a damned tree before it was done and over, and she was also a cronic strain.
Thats if you want to see, or your board.:D
Thanks,

At top of the thread under thread tools...subscribe to thread; then it lets you know when someone has added to the thread so you don't miss anything. It's SO much easier than searching around for the stuff you like to view often. ;)

Hiya, about 3 weeks but it seems growth has almost stopped and i have repotted as they were in very small pots and i think that has hindered growth.

I'd have to go look...they are in day 33 flower. If you are interested you can check out my grow log in my sig there. i think I vegged them for about 5 weeks before turning them including topping twice.
I have great aspirations of growing a tree now. ;)

I did check your log out. You are doing an incredible job! Very healthy grow indeed-especially for an indoor grow. I have heard great things about indoor growing-like Arnald Swartz-a-buds and such! I am somewhat partial to outdoor growth, only because of the size and yeild. With Gods ground to grow in, and Gods powerful hps's, plants seem to thrive.
One day, though, I will attempt an indoor grow...it will probably be logged right here!

Pocekts I will tell you my sad story. Many MANY years ago (one) I tried to grow outdoors. I built a super cool area that was covered with shadecloth.
I planted about 150 seeds. They all germinated. Unfortunately they were two inches down and never came up. WAY too deep. I found them when I emptied the pots out after 3 weeks of watering.
So repot 150 more (all bagseed btw...nothing expensive) and waited. NONE of them came up NONE. I found out later that the seeds I had (they were given to me) were about 5-10 years old and had not been kept airtight in any way.
SO I REPOTTED 150 more. I was lucky because I had gotten ahold of some GOOd bagseed.....some blueberry x afgahni and something called Blue Russian. About 100 germinated. Then there they sat. I waited more. They all grew to about 6 inches and stopped growing. Nice and green. Like 100 little bonsai plants. I did not think this was strange until I went to my friends house ( she planted at same time) and saw hers were 2 feet tall. I watered more; i watered less. They stayed exactly the same. Turned out I used back yard dirt (at my friend's suggestion) and the stuff was completely clay like. Once those little roots hit the end of the rapid rooters I had planted them in they couldn't get through the clay. That's why they were all the same size.
SO guess what.....no. I took the same plants and put them in bigger pots with quality soil. They started to grow nicely considering I was now in August (planted in June) and they were only now in decent soil. I felt pretty good (and tired)
Middle of August.....temps soar to 110 degrees...top day 113. I had fans on them. Extra shade cloth....etc etc.... 2 weeks of record breaking heat. That was pretty much the beginning of the end.
Meanwhile my friend who lives in about 5-10 degree cooler area was sitting outside all day with a fly swatter trying to keep off the hoardes of grasshoppers invading her crop.
At the very end I came with about 6 half assed females. I switched to hydro and first grow got 8-9 oz off five female plants.
I will never touch soil again......so help me God.
The end

LMFAO!!!
WOW! What a story. I am sorry it turned out like that for you. Outdoor growing CAN be an amazing experience...if it is a good one. I tell you what though, if I had the resorces, and the experience with water qualities, (for growing, anyway; I am an expert in aquariums...majored in marine biology and botony) I would be going hydro also. I just have a green thumb, and a nack for growing outdoors plants. Not to mention a special thanks to my botony professors!
It does kinda suck though, when the damn 'Hoppers and other leaf eaters (fu*kin' catapillers! I hold a dark spot in my heart for those wreched creatures!) come out of the woodwork and set up shop. BUT...thats the kind of things that make it interesting.

It's even more pathetic that we have several acres and no neighbors....perfect for growing if it wasn't for me. Your tree rocked so much! Now i understand why...botany major. How long did you grow that thing for?
-
OK, I need some opinions here, please.
I started her indoors, in March. I let her go in the window(natural light, so she wouldnt be shocked when I transplanted her) until the temp was cooperating. In about mid June I planted her outside, in this beautifl little nook of swamp area. That is when she really started to thrive! She started flowering in mid August, and was ready in October...Harvest and manicuring was a bitch, I didnt expect a friggin' oak tree, ya know?!
She grew for approx. 7mos. all togather.

i have some haze seeds I'd love to do that with......just let them go and get as big and tall as they can. It's just the soil part.....and outdoors part.....and the me part. I wouldn't grow them in hydro because they take so damn long to flower and would get too tall for the indoors.
I think you really have to read your plants well when you grow in soil. Hydro is all numbers. I can tell my plants look weird but it takes checking all my little tester things before I can pinpoint things and try to fix them. The plants always do their share if I do mine. :)
PS No 113 degrees or grasshoppers either ;)

Pockets I hope you don't mind but I would like to steal the link to your plant and put it on my grow log for folks to see. Would this be ok with you?

No I dont have a problem with that at all...show anyone you wish, I am proud!:D It makes me feel good when someone takes an interest in my grows.
I give you my blessing, and thank you for the compliment!

Also, dont be intimidated by soil. All it takes is experience through experimentation. There are a ton of people on this site, (including myself) that would love to help, and be azious to see how they turn out. I can give you tips from my experiences that would help you a great deal.
It all starts with a seed and a hole in the ground-remember, its just a weed, after all!;)

One more thing, if you search, there are WAY better pictures in my posts than those...That is if you want to. The post you have is fine by me-they are all good pictures. I need to search them out myself so I can retain the images back...I lost them last year when my computer crashed.

Oh the weed part was all good....it was the rest of it. Lol. Thanks, I'm off to go post it....take care and may take you up on that offer of outside grow assistance. I have 8 pure haze seeds that I would really love to try. Thanks.
