Sarkozy victory marred by riots

Riot squads fired tear gas on Sunday at protestors throwing stones, bottles and, in one instance, acid at police in cities across France after right-winger Nicolas Sarkozy's presidential victory.

Clashes took place at Paris' Place de la Bastille, where about 5000 supporters of the defeated Socialist candidate Segolene Royal had gone to await the election results and had stayed on after Sarkozy's triumph.

Up to 300 rioters, some wearing scarves around their faces, used bottles and stones in running attacks on police, who responded with baton charges, tear gas and water cannon.

"Police everywhere, justice nowhere," shouted some of the rioters, while others screamed "Sarko-fascist".

A small crowd of demonstrators, brandishing black and red anarchist flags, set fire to an effigy of Sarkozy before tearing it limb from limb and stamping on it.

Police cleared the square of rioters and Royal supporters alike by midnight, but hardcore anti-Sarkozy protesters later gathered nearby. When they began running towards the centre of the city and throwing bottles, police in riot gear gave pursuit and fired tear gas.

At least one injured man could later be seen lying on the ground nearby.

See, one day of a fascist leader and he provokes riots. The french people are not stupid like the American sheeple, they know an asshole when they see one. Sounds to me like they might have a bit of vote fixing going on in that fair country, we "smarter than the average bear" folks in Amerika know that is going on. I only hope they get it straightened out before the '08' election or we may be saddled with another dead head right wing nazi fascist dictator like the present regime, a Neo-Nazi-faux-Christian-Hypocratic-warmongering-plutocratic-oligarcic-vestibule of shit. I think that almost fairly describes the current regime, I may have left some adjectives out, I'll do more research on the matter.

I'm sorry, but i can't be sympathetic to those rioters. As soon as a leader comes forward to tighten immigration, do they have to show the race card by yelling out "Nazi or fascist". And this ain't just France, it's all over Europe. Country by country plagued by the PC brigade and far-left anarchists who are prepared to use violence in getting what they want. If they truly believed in freedom and democracy as they claim, then they would respect the wishes of the French people, and not going around attacking people!:mad:

Hey, get yourself a hotrod and we'll meet up at some car venue, I'm in the finishing stages of my hotrod nova, just a few bugs to work out, and then I might do some road trips. It' a 500 HP 2800 lb rocket, should do the 1/4 mile in 11 sec or better. I'd post a pic but for identification purposes I'll not do that. suffice it to say, it's a beauty.

62 box nova with a 383 stroker, Dart pro aluminum heads, mild port job, 248 dur. @0.50, 565 lift solid lifters, 700R-4 beefed trans and a 411:1 posi rear, 8.5 10 bolt with 235-60R15 radial slicks, good for around 500 HP. 650 DP demon carb. Had a 68 chevelle with a 307 and 3 on the tree, wasn't that fast but would lay rubber for a block, I was going to hot rod it but my neighbor needed a car for his son, so I let him have it cheap. I had a 61 impala with the 348 and 3 deuces. Had a 56 chevy convert with a overbored 301 and 3 deuces, there are more but I'm not going to bore you any further, Yeah I'm a car nut.
