Grab razor. Slash wrists.
Nah, it is quite depressing though. Funny enough this song was christmas number one in the UK in i think 2003 although it could of been a year or two earlier
It is a sad song. I only gave it a few minutes of listening, but to me, it sounds like the songwriter is trying to find answers for our human behaviour. Kids killing kids in school, where it should be a place for learning, new experiences, and meeting friends. Now it's a warzone where kids are being taunted and shot down. The songwriter is asking "why?" are we bahaving like this.
It also made me think of the daily lives people live. Mon-Fri, 9-5, everyone is going in circles, day in, day out, and for what? a paycheque where 80% of it goes to living expenses, just so we can do it again tomorrow. It's pointless, like "going around in circles", with no change, no movement.
That's how I saw it anyways. It's amazing what 2 minutes of listening to a song can make you interpret things. :)
makes me think of donnie darko..
Which rocks the casbah.
Btw that vid is mindblowing. :stoned:
the song is ok, its got pretty good lyrics but nevertheless its ok. I see nothing new in its message tho. and if you guys think that donnie darko is a mind fuck I dont know what a waking life is then, watch it!
When I hear that song it just means I should change the track immediately.
i love this song....it makes me think of dark cold times tho :P and friends.
children waiting for the day they feel good. Happy birthday happy birthday...

i really love this song, helps me through somber times. :)
The original song writers, Tears for Fears - 1982
A more upbeat version. Funny dance moves too... lol

makes me think of death, sadness, and the average human life which goes no where.
I'm not really feeling the original version, I'm glad Gary Jules made his own version because I think the music is more appropriate for the lyrics.Quote:

It makes me think of how things are right now....it's a beautiful song. I loved it when Tears for Fears sang it...and I think this guy did a great job too.
the Tears for Fears version is sooo good, but the way Jules' version plays at the end of Donnie Darko is such a great way to end the movie. great lyrics to go with the movie "the dreams is which i'm dying are the best i've ever had.."
holy fuck i love that movie
that song is just as overplayed as donnie darko is overrated. it makes me think of immature high school peeps who like both of those things.
sorry, i don't mean to offend, i just have a pretty strong disliking for that movie because i find it to be trash.
and the tears for fears original version is just outright terrible. it's way too damn upbeat for the lyrics. ugh, the 80s
