Confusion of Youth

I got a little shit going on, so I wanted you of any wisdom to help me (serious responses only please). Basically my parents became suspicious when someone at school (I turn 16 July) told my parents they thought I might be a user. So several weeks later my mom wakes me up 12 hours since I smoked, and apparently my room smelled like pot, dumb choice, I thought air vent, open window, and candles would fix that.

I am now in this 8 week peer program, which includes ua. Part of the program includes AA meetings, but my dad was very positive about it (the AA), so only that every Friday until summer break (then college next year). I am kind of anxious about the AA, but I learned even after their sad stories that I could safely use only Cannabis.

Here's the catch, after these programs should I continue to smoke, or wait until after I moved out like I said/felt at the time? I don't see the point in waiting, besides saying I would do it put of respect.

I would stop just because it's your parent's house...unless you can toke saftely elsewhere.

It sounds like your parents have no tolerence for drugs at all if they sent you to rehab for bascially nothing. If I were you I would probably keep smoking, because its in my nature to do what I feel like doing. Based on what you told me about your parents however, I would be cautious. If they send you to rehab for getting caught with a little once, who knows what they'll do the next time.

I would definitelty be cautious now, and wait maybe 4 more months. But I have another question, how can I stop being so anxious about the AA meetings?

We'll I have to ask you why these meetings make you feel nervous in the first place?

Also, I got caught 1 1/2 years ago, figured my parents were clueless morons... irony...

I think a lot of kids under estimate how clever their parents are.

I would advise you quite smoking in their house, since you know they don't approve of it. If you want to smoke else where than you can take the chance if choose. Don't be suprised if they suddenly decide to drug test you though.

I don't drink, its just recquired for the program because they think alcohol is the same thing... bs

I am simply anxious about the AA, because I'm worried it might influence my plans for the future, smoke 'till I die, grow. Perhaps make me unsure? I know my facts well, but I have the right to be anxious, protect the dreams.

lol about your parents, (why the fuck would you smoke indoors if your parents are agaisnt it you too fucking lazy to walk out to the garden/staircase/street) dont smoke in your house but smoke everywhere else, now i aint sure what the AA crap is but i believe its a bit like Youth Offenders thing we have in england where they basically try to brainwash you and see 'the wrong' which you done, well if it is then do what i did, soon as they start brainwashing you with their bullshit you throw down some proper good facts about cannabis, once they retliate give em links and such to cannabis studies (positive ones (not that i think there is negative ones) and ask them to provide a reference for their bullshit.

after arguening about it a few times they then never talked to me about drugs again (but went on to the dangers of knives and riding mopeds dangerously lmao but i think your AA thing is a drug only place so anyway maybe they will just let you go... :D )

Stop smoking - or go outside to smoke. But your parents over reacted big time. If that happened to me i'd move out and never talk to them again. It's your life - but their house.

Valid point...i agree about the overreaction especially. I mean, i could understand them shouting with you, punishing you (taking away priveliges etc) But sending your own child to a drug rehabilitation course because he smoked a joint? To me that beggars beleif. I would hold it second only to selling your kid out to the police...

well, i agree that your parents took this WAY WAY overboard. it makes me sad to think that there are still people out there, educated adults even, that treat weed like its cocaine. you will never suck a cock to get your next weed fix (bob saget :) ). I personally believe that putting a weed user in any substance abuse program is an insult to those that actually need it. I would say that you sit your parents down and talk to them about it. I reccomend having some sources on its A) non addictive nature, B) the myth that it is a gateway drug (it isnt), and C) any negative effects that your parents try to use against it. it comes down to this, they are your parents, you belong to them right now. Try to get them to see your side, but if they are still against it, I wouldnt smoke in the house, but maybe find other places to do it instead.

Well your parents sound even more brainwashed than my own. Damn rehab for marijuana? This isn't meth...and don't even get me started with AA its a religious cult and it doesn't help people stop drinking. The success rate of AA programs is 5%. Whats the success rate of people stopping on their own? 5%. Anyways don't be that anxious about it though cause all its going to do is waste your time.

AA is Alcoholics Anonymous. It is where Alcoholics go to stop drinking but apparently it doesnt work very well. Its all bs too.

Anyways dude, that sucks about your parents. I've been caught with weed numerous times and the same shit always happens. My parents yell, tell me that they are disappointed, and then i promise never to smoke again. Of course though i break that promise. I wish i didnt have to lie to them.

SERIOUSLY fucked up. My whole family is against weed, so whenever they say something against it, I don't respond, because I would get in huge ass arguments everyday (3 sisters, 1 bro, mom and dad), especially since my bro. (19) is a real asshole

I imagine that you are going to ask for your parents' help with college in some fashion.
They have no obligation to give it to you but if you guys have an agreement, like you respect them and they will help you, then great!
Okay so I'm not going to argue with anyone who said they overreacted... but my hunch is that it was out of genuine concern for your well-being and once you go off on your own and do your thing like an adult, you will be able to tell them, hey, you know I wasn't such a bad kid after all, but whatever, you get an A for effort, right? And bonus, you all get along and there's no weirdness at Thanksgiving. lol.
And you don't really want to have to go out totally on your own without some form of support from the 'rents... especially not in THIS economy... yikes.

Damn, I have too many good opportunities to move out (even if i could), just a really poor situation, will be glad to move out at 18.

If my parents were against weed I'd be fucked; as it is, my dad lets me pinch a bit of his stash if I need it.

My mum woke me up today...and told me how dissapointed she was.... then she told me she found my "stuff"... which consisted of a bullet pipe...some papers...and some seeds. no pot, but still.

I was speechless for some seconds...then I started to talk... then suddenly she lost her compusture and started crying .. "what are you doing with your life? I do everything so you can have a future" etc etc... I felt like some big shit...I still do...I feel like shit.

I told her it was "a kind of legal thing...made of strawberry" but I bet she didn't buy it.... and told her I just wanted to "experiment" and that have only done it a couple of times....

She took that stuff...I don't know what she is going to do with them....I hope she throws it away.... I fucking hate myself right now.

The first times I got caught when I was younger and my parents chewed me out about weed I remmeber the first thing I did was sit there and think about how wrong I was and how much of an idiot I was. That's not right though. Your parents just really care about you and they get dooped by all the stories about weed=death and they over re-act. Don't let your mom crush your spirit.

I dont know why you hate yourself. You havnt done anything wrong. Just because your mother doesnt like the fact you prefer smoking an almost harmless plant than drinking poison doesnt mean your wrong. Your right. Your making your own decisions in life. Dont get upset because shes upset. She's only upset because she doesnt know anything about what she's banging out about. Try showing her some facts - educate her about it. Dont let her think shes right when all her arguments are obviously going to be bullshit. I cant get my head around how you feel bad. You're [hopefully] not a child, so it's your life, and your decisions. As far as i'm concerned, if you want to smoke weed, that's the right decision.

Well dont do anything about it. Your an adult - you can do exactly what you like when you like. If you want to smoke a plant, do it! Just smoke it outside [like you probably already do] and she cant complain.

If she figures out it was weed give her all the real fact about how good it is, and about EVERYTHING the government say is complete bullshite.

Be straight up with your parents. Tell them that you are not only not going to stop smoking, but you celebrate the fact that you smoke. Well, that might be a bad idea. But people shouldn't be shady about pot. It isn't like your a crack head for smoking pot. We shouldn't live in fear because of it. Get some information, and show your parents the reasons why you smoke that don't involve the high. How there is proof against it causing cancer, possibly preventing it, how it helps insomnia and depression.

But seriously. I don't believe in lying to your parents. Your parents trust is way more important than any punishment you'll get from them is bad. Sure you are in a shitload of meeting and stuff now, but maybe you can pull your parents to your side of the horizon.

Thanks for the replies. I know that my parent's trust is a very important thing...I don't want to ruin that, but still I couldn't admit it was pot what I was smoking, I know what that little word can cause to people like my mother. I guess she can find out what those seeds are from though...heh.

The thing is, I'm not a regular user actually... time to time I buy a 1/2 and smoke that in a period of time...I kept my pipe and papers to use them when I needed it.

Im trying to give the impression that it was a little phase...to "experiment" .. I actually told her I wanted to experiment, to see how it was... so hopefully she will think I just smoked a couple of times for "silly juvenile sake" and wont do it again....

Though I toked 2 ago...and I will smoke whenever I have the chance.... the difference is... not in my house anymore.

Well... if you dont drink and go to the AA, then you will learn a lot of reasons to never ever drink. And, for me, its a very good thing. As you can see for yourself, booze can destroy the live of people, and brings absolutely no growth, mental or spiritual, as weed does.
Weed is not like booze. So you can keep your smoking/growing dreams, cause if you only smoke you will never become like this poor ex-drunken ones...

Canabis couldnt posssibly be further away from alcohol if it grew legs and had a jet on it's back. They're opposits in everyway.
