Alright, try not to flame.

Alright, here's the story. I've been smoking for about 3 years now. Whenever I'd buy weed, I'd just get a connection from a friend. I could get my hands on it every weekend, and I'd be good to go for the week (Or weeks, or days, depending on what I bought). Generally I like mids to hydro, as I had a bad experience with a half ounce of schwag (It was stolen from my coworkers). Here's the deal.

I moved to Tn from Dayton, Oh. I'm in the bible belt and don't go to the local high school because their graduation rate here is something like 74%. Last year their valedictorian became an auto mechanic for instance. Pretty much everyone lives here their whole lives. Thank god I'm moving to Nc on the 1st of May. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a scholar or anything. But I realize that school in a way determines my future, so I like getting A's. That doesn't mean I don't like to have fun though, not in the slightest.

Anyway here's the deal. Since I take my school courses over the internet, my friends are really limited to people I know in Ohio and Texas. Not that I'm really that bad of a guy, I've been told I'm pretty cool. It's just Tn people (at least where I live) really are just into prescription meds and meth. As for their other recreation material, fishing and four wheeling aren't really my things either. Anyway I won't be able to get to Ohio this Friday to get some bud, but I really do want to celebrate on Friday. And just had this question...

any advice on how I should go about scoring some bud? I know the usual fare, look legit and use slang terms instead of "You know where I could buy some weed?" I've been told to lookout for the people who look legit as well...though there aren't many here, and to ask first if they are "420 friendly". I know you guys get this a bunch, but if you'd be cool about it that'd really help me out. I guess I'll use the knowledge I already know. Any ideas on where I should look though? There's a music shop that sells pipes in town and a movie theater. There's no real mall though or anything like that. I guess I could go around the high school when the kids get out, but I'm just some creepy stranger to them (I would think). Anyway, I guess I should just grow some balls and ask everyone I see? I dont have any advice to offer, but good luck finding stuff and good job having education as a priority.

If theres a local high school or university I would hang around there and ask some "right" looking people.

I may be stereotyping a bit here, but look for some teenagers that display the characteristics of 'movie' stoners.

I.e. Teenagers who stakeboard, hang in little groups sitting on the grass under tree's and/or monuments in a local park or something.

Surely somebody somewhere will be able to direct you some bud.

I am doing good. Busy....I am taking 12 credits in school and working 33 hours a week on top of that...I don't get a single day off between either of them..

..and on top of that I moved again last weekend...

here's my advice. it's worked 1/1 times so i guess it has a 100% effectiveness, haha.
go to the shop that sells pipes. look around, sorta loiter, only make it look like you're actually gonna buy something. then when someone comes in, looking at pieces, size them up, see if you think they smoke. listen to what they're asking for, stereotype them into smoker or not. then, when they leave, follow them out of the store and stop them right out of the door and ask them.

i was at this headshop in cali one time and this dude came in asking for glass jars and i knew he had to at least smoke, he left and i was right on his tail i was like 'hey, this may be a little weird, but do you have anything that you would umm... use with those pieces in there?'. he gave me this smirk and an hour later i got a fat bag.

just my advice, but like i said, it's worked for me. good luck dude and happy 4-20 no matter what.

I'm in TN...I assume you're somewhere around middle TN by your description of the dipshit people ( I'm from Ohio too, btw).
Sadly enough, the best way to score anything is to strait out ask for it. Euphemisms and metaphors are completely ineffective in the face of ignorance.

Most of the time, it goes like this...
Me- " You smoke?"
Jethro (or other redneck name)- " Smoke what?"
me- " Bud?"
Jethro- " You mean the beer?"
Me- " I mean weed. Do you smoke weed?"
Jethro- " Oh shit yeah main. I got some for yuh."

I would take a college course or two and check out the student's cafeteria. At my little community college, there was a stoner/goth/free-thinker table. I was in my early 50s and just plunked myself down at the table and started talking. Being old enough to be everyone's grandma didn't stop me! After about a week of discussing philosophy and my past as a hippie, I was invited to a party (they didn't expect me to come). I went to the party. And kingjustin, man it sounds like you know just what I mean. My first year here I offered a guy a lift because his car broke down. He let me take him to a gas station, and then proceeded to fill WATER BOTTLES with gasoline. The guy wasn't chill at all, was clearly on too much of something, and made my car reek for a week! So much for loving your neighbor, eh?

Anyway, I'm an hour above Alabama here. South central just like you guessed. I'm 25 minutes from Pulaski, you know the place. Where the Klu Klux Klan was founded? Yeah, that's the one. Anyway wish me luck you guys, I tried tonight at my gym and here's what went down.

So then I figured, a cook and a dishwasher?! Everyone I know in restaurant business tokes, so I waited until his brother showed up and chatted here and then about odd things until then as we worked out.

"So, are you guys celebrating tomorrow?" ~ Me
"Celebrating what mane?" ~ Eses'
"4/20 (I then try to think of the number in Spanish)." ~ Me
"No, what's so great about the 20th?" ~ Eses

Hahaha. So then I just say it's a day where everyone smokes grass. They laugh and say no, they aren't into it. But they were still pretty chill anyway and we've been working out together a long time now. We talked about that ***hole who shot up Virginia Tech for awhile. Then his brother gave me a "cookie" (really a peanut butter ice cream sandwich, which was damn good) and I gave them some Gatorade's.

Then we just talked about whatever was on tv or came to mind as we worked out. Honestly it was a nice and funny start for 4/20, and I did everything I would do while celebrating: I had a good time. Never the less, I didn't smoke. Maybe I don't have to tomorrow? But I sure would like to, it's been a month.

Anyway tomorrow the head shop is getting two Devendra Banhart cds that I ordered from them. My scruff should be out by then, and I've got long hair now so wish me luck. I'll just look around and try anyone who looks legit. I'm even going to ask the store owner if she's celebrating today (But she looks REALLY clean cut, but nothing wrong with asking. After all, if she says yes...she might know of somebody or even smoke me out!). Anyway, happy 4/20 guys. Wish me luck.

That is a good idea. Honestly I've done tons of experimenting in the past. But man made stuff just tends to scare the **** out of me. I'll try, but honestly holding a conversation with them is hard enough as it is. I'm gonna go get those cds now and see what's up.

I'm not going camping with the boy scouts anymore anyway (some guys got "sick", which is bull**** if you ask me, if the trip wasn't going on beforehand then I'd be in Ohio toking right now!) so I may have more time to look and sniff-literally-around today. So yeah, my only reason for staying in town was to go camping to get my Camping Merit badge so I can become an Eagle Scout (I should become one next Saturday) and now I have to cross my fingers and hope those kids won't back out on me next weekend.

Oh well. I really has been a good 420 so far anyway. I took a bath and lit some inscents while listening to Devendra last night. Then I fed a stray dog, and he was still at my place during lunchtime today so he seemed to adopt me I guess. All is going well...now just wish me luck as I try to ask everyone I see!!! Peace.
