Man, when being homeless, it shitty. We should start up some tips so that everyone is prepared (for example, if you're stranded far far away from your home). HEY, you might thank me for this one day...
Tip #1. Food - @ 711, there are little disposable cups. Fill those up w/ some free cheeze, onions, whatever they got near the hotdogs n shit.
Um, I don't know. I was homeless in Amsterdam for a day, lol.. The airport was my friend. :D But that's as close as I've come to being homeless, and I hope that's as close as I'll ever get. I hate to think of anyone being without a home, and it's such a shame that it's so common.. :(

if you can get your hands on some rat-traps and peanut butter go to the park. you can feast on squirrel.
Or... just... feast on the peanut butter. I know the idea might sound crazy, I just thought I'd throw it out there anyway..
yeah i suppose you could eat the peanut butter and catch squirrels at the same time...
thats what i would do if i was homeless....something to keep me occupied and fed.
Lol yeah, I forgot about the boredom factor.. Hey if you live near a lake or river you could get some steaks and use them to catch crocodiles or alligators. ;)

this thread brings up a good point. so i will expand on it a little.
If you were stranded with a group of people with no hope of imediate rescue and starving, would you or could you eat a fellow human bieng?

Over at Wendys, next time you order...get a double stack ($1) with extra everything (FREE!!!!). They'll give you the regular burger, but with tons of lettuce and tomatoes! Adds a good 30% weight probably bahaha!
well i was homeless for a week, i went to a market for one day n helped out for a mighty 12 quid 25 dollers maybe? erm then i stole my mates jacket (well he gave it 2 me meh) erm saw ma old mate n he got me to shot for him, then that led here, but homlessness is shit, i sleept in a field, bus station, police station, some old ladys house after i did teh gardning n den my mates flat
meh it was bad but i thought it wuld be worse but att the time i thought i wuld die lol had no hope
DUMPSTER DIVE! small retail chains such as Save-a-Lot and Dollar General throws out tons of useful stuff. avoid residential garbage and big stores such as Wal-Mart--they compact thier 'garbage'. Ready-made food places like Pappa Johns and Little Ceasars and bread stores throw out fresh food all the time. Thrift stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army are gold mines. i dont know what to say...how could you be homeless if you are a functioning member of society and working, for one...and if you go on holiday and have no place to stay, in reality, you shouldnt have gone on holiday....i just dont get the point, sorry....
and no offense biz, but i would never eat out of a dumpster, i dont care what is wrapped and sealed...i cant equate reduce, reuse, recycle, with eating out of a dumpster...but more power to you for being the better person...

I was homeless for 5 months. In the winter, know where the shelter is. In nice whether, its good to invest in a cheap tent. Also make friends who will let you crash on their couch once in while. And panhandle; being able to play an instrument helps.
if i were a bum, id sleep in my fiends houses or sheds. maybe id prop up a tent. id collect cans and break into cars for money and other valuables. lol
I personally would like to be a drifter, but have money and a car or something. It would be nice, traveling the land without a place to go, but enough weed and food to serve for life. I think I'm gonna do that when I'm retired if I'm not old and wrinkly.
I have a friend who is "homeless." He has a place to stay temporarily and for free, but the only reason is because he's schizophrenic. I help him out with stuff once in a while, because it's hard for him to function properly. I do it, because he has no one else in this world.
For a homeless guy, he has it made. He has a PS3 AND X-BOX 360, with this expensive ass sound system. It's actually kinda sickening in a way, he's suppose to become unhomeless, not be comfortable and play video games all day. But none the less, he survives because he has good friends. Period.

I would probably play guitar for money, maybe sleep on the beach if there were one available.
I'd like to be a bag lady, with a shopping cart full of crazy. And an animal, preferably a shaggy dog, or a chill cat.

Pick up a guitar, hit the mall, and play for ppl that have spare change in their pockets. Go to some fast food place and get a drink, keep the cup and use it over and over.
I'd find somewhere to crash, my friends wouldn't let me sleep on the streets and i'd have no problem helpin someone out as long as they don't take advantage and actually try and make some $$. I would quit smokin ganja of course (unless its a gift hehe).
Cheap food: Ramen, Multi-Meat Hotdogs (Chic-urky 'n Pork), CARBS AND PROTEINS ARE YOUR FRIEND! You feel more full off them then a few 25cent brownies from a gas station.
Shelter: Car, Unlighted Parks, Salvation Army Housing (Free 1 night, 10$ a day there after, or 30$ a week).
Money: There are places in large city's that have "Day Laborers". I worked at once and there are alot of heavy alcoholics and drug users looking to score extra cash. Usually tho, if your clean and shelter at the Salv.Army, they'll put you first in line for work.
Done it once.. wasn't fun. :(

I think everyone should be Truly "Homeless" for six months...it should be required like a draft!!! I've tryed not to post in this thread but these two posts obligate me to!!

1. Not all Homeless folk are Crimanals, in fact most of the homeless in the US are "Invisable" you would'nt know of their predicament for just seeing them on the street!
2.It is only a small minority of the Homeless that are Drug addled or Mentally Ill...We can thank our illustrious Government for the lack of real Drug treatment or Good Mental Health Programs to help those how suffer from these problems out!
3 Assume Nothing!! Homelessness can come and blindside the best of us in life...Ask those who still live out of FEMA Trailers after Katrina....And then go ask State Farm Insurence Co why they wont pay those who lost everything,Home,Job,Life!! Or why they wont pay the Household Coverage they Paid for over Twenty Years,Or why State Farm will no longer sell Home Owners Coverage in Lousiana or Mississippi!!!!

I lived on the streets as a junky bum and a speed freak until I was 38, it is nothing to write home to mom about or joke about.
Just don't get homeless because not having a place to sleep at night or having to stand at a 7/11 or a gas station to panhandle for food or drugs is degrading and depressing.
I have been off of drugs for almost 7 years now and I have a good place to live with a cool women, life is good now.
