just ordered some lowryder #2 to grow in the garden over the summer, have never grown this strain b4 so i have a few questions any help would be great. would it be best to grow in a small greenhouse or not? whats best fert to use? best size pots? and how much and how often do these dwarfs need watering?

OK I grew some out last year :)
GreenHouse - Yes! Better pest control (IMHO) and you get better stealth too I guess.
I used organic ferts - Bat Guano in some regular compost. As the life cycle is so short you don't need to mad on ferts imho.
Watering - at first nothing really, just watch if its getting hot in there - during hot summer days you want to keep an eye on them and not let them get too hot. A decent amount of airflow is needed.
+ They STINK compared with Lowryder 1 : Be careful of this. The Brazil Indica genetics (Santa Maria) are the culprit I think.
Pots should be as big as you like - go deep as they still root deep. Small pots really make a difference imho even early on. This plant will be around for 100 days though so if space is an issue then maybe you could start with smaller 6' pots then move them after sexing.
They show sex at about 21 days
They WILL stretch and become not-so-low-ryders if they don't get direct sun. My biggest lowryder came out at about 23' well above the 12-18' you get indoor.
Yield is MUCH better with LR2 but its still low, expect 7-30g per plant but I recommend you grow some for seed as you can't clone the LR's.
The smoke is uplifting and rushy - a very nice stone. I though LR1 was nice - but LR2 is significantly improved.
I would like to try MiniGun ~ LowRyder x Ak-47 :)
Hope this helps

Unfortunately I lost a hard disk last summer and all the pics + grow log I had or it would be on here :(
It was before the Lowryder2 was "official" and I got some pretty early seeds. Sexes show fairly early so kill all but your strongest male - then take some pollen if you want. I managed to save some pollen and use it to cross with White Rhino so if you save the pollen (I froze mine + put some in the fridge) you can always do it later when you are ready.
I'm going with a Bunch of F2's from the seeds of my last grow too so I'll take some snaps - they are coming on nicely in this sunshine :)

thanx DELTA when did you start your outdoor grow this year?for the last couple of years been doing early pearl in the garden but found it not suitable as i only got a small garden and had to pinch the plants to keep the size down,so went for the lowryder2 as i thought it would be easier to hide, also got a tiny greenhouse 4ft wide 2ft deep 4ft high which hopefully should house 2 comfortly hopefully 3 but dont know how wide they bush.

One of my plants I grew over the winter by accident. It sprouted in November and I thought it was a different plant (I have lots in my greenhouse) so I just left it.
Turns out it was a Lowryder 2 must have fallen from one of my seed-mothers and into another pot - LOL
Anyway I'm beginning to LST her as she would be well over a foot high by now. I will take a pic soon - keep forgetting.
They can stretch in my experience so keep them as close to the light as you can. If need be early on elevate them so they get as much sun as possible. I found the ones in the areas of my greenhouse that received less light ended up stretching (makes sense) but they were also predominantly males - could be a fluke but who knows?
Males are generally bigger and grow faster but not always - its easy enough to sex them before they drop pollen so don't worry.
They grow fast - I would start them in a big pot if you have room as they root quick. I grew out 10 in 3 different sized pots and it really made a difference to size and growth rate - but for seedlings a small pot is ok of course.
They don't respond to topping very well and I wouldn't recommend it, they are effectively flowering as soon as mature so its not like they are vegging and can get over the shock more easily. They generally form one cola at the top and a few lower ones (4-8).
I'm trying LST as I have this one plant that has technically vegged for 6months which is weird for a Lowryder - of course it could be a White Rhino as I lost a few seeds when I burned myself with a spliff - but that's another story... ;)
Last year I started some Lowryder 1 in May and some Lowryder 2 in July.
I think that this year I started on March 15th with some fresh spouted Lowryder F2's from my seed stock (I had about 250 seeds from one mother :)) and they are doing great in the greenhouse.
I would still germ them indoors where you have a stable temp - I lost a few to the frosts we've had at random lately. I tried to germ some in the greenhouse but they more stable indoors tbh.
With a greenhouse like that you should get 4 big mums in there no trouble.
My biggest female reached 29' so about 2 1/2 feet high. 4 feet will be plenty.
I fed them on Bat Guano and used a regular compost with some vermiculite added and some stones in the bottom for better drainage. You will find when it gets very hot and they are getting big they will drink a reasonable amount of water but its better to get some air in the greenhouse rather than just wang more water in ;)
Grow some other plants in with your weed that pests don't like e.g. Chrysanthemum's as lots of pests hate them (pyrethrium is made from them so no wonder) they are small and you can even stick a few in your pots or grow some in small pots scattered about.
Good luck - post some pics when you can :)

thanx again delta for the vast amount of info your a great help:thumbsup: . got the seeds in the week going to start to germ 5 today.. as soon as they start to sprout i'll post some pics.noticed your online now, i thought i was the only stoner that got up this early lol.:D

18 degrees all week next week :)
OK some pics - First pic is some fresh LR2's - they sprouted about 2 weeks ago. Gives you an idea what they look like - there is a 1 week one in shot too on the left (tiny!)
The 2nd is my "over-winter" Lowryder2 (I think...) which is coming on ok. The missing leaves are from a "rabbit encounter"... To say this plant survived over winter I think it is doing pretty well and looks OK.
The 3rd pic shows where the stem is in my basic LST - it really gives the leaf area full access to the sun and I'm hoping will slow down any stretch.
Fourth is a close-up so you can see new leaf growth. Lowryder2 always look a bit "cabbagey" as they fold out but are slightly rough to the touch and actually smell even before flower.
They stink a bit, well, like crap.
But green ganj spicy crap though so you will understand - just think of Spicy Brazil and you are there.

definitely indica phenol; And, definitely belongs in outdoor growing. Peace

all looking good delta, nice pics.started to germ 5, went out yestrday and got some organic compost and some 7" pots dont think pots are going to be big enough, but i can always transfer after sexing to larger if i need to.tried to get some fertiliser also but my local hydro shop has closed down, he was growing in the flat above and got busted, so not sure where to get some decent fert but i'll find some.Delta you mentioned that they will be around for about 100 days,i thought it was going to be a lot less than that more like 75 but i know very little about this strain lol.good luck with your excellent grow bro:thumbsup:

Thanks Weedmaster
Growing above a Hydro Shop....
I say 100 days just because I reckon that the 60 day time is
a. Not from seed - but after a stable germed plant is coming out of the soil
b. Based on Artificial Light
c. Not based on a UK GreenHouse ;)
d. Slightly optimistic...
Depends on the light but they do add more weight on later in flower (if you can leave them). Mould and temptation may get the better of you though as they don't yield as much as a regular plant anyway - so you might be tempted to chop earlier.
As Latewood said - You can see a clear Indica pheno coming out in mine - hopefully that means a shorter plant and flower time. When I grew out some last year I grew the Lowryder 1 - much more Sativa like and did take a while to flower.
Plus depends on the weather. But the great thing with Lowryder is you can get more than one crop in per year. You could Germ five then wait a month and Germ five more - that way you can see what affects them. If you start early enough you might be able to grow from the seeds of your first grow - later in the same year :)
I should quit Hijacking your thread...

lowryder #2
your not hijacking just shareing and thats what it's all about my friend:thumbsup: .
all 5 seeds have cracked and have now been transferd to yogurt pots for the start of their new lives. i'll give them a couple of weeks then transfer them to the 7"pots. ill start a grow a grow report soon in the outdoor grow section, any input you have would be very welcome:D

Cool - I will keep a few pics of mins as they come along - some may well have to go outdoors though in the wild.
I had about 250+ seeds from last years grow and went a bit OTT with seedlings....
