That's very interesting. They jump to a lot of false conclusions in the article though, and it's upsetting to see scientists spew shit from their mouths, knowing that it is shit, for a few bucks.

That is a very interesting observation, though again I think they jump the gun on the hypothesis. They don't give any support to the claimed connection between developing opioid / cannaboid receptors, though, which is a shame. I'll be curious to see what happens if that turns out to be true.

unfortunately, its true... i started smoking weed when i was a teenager, maybe 12-13 (i cant remember), then after some time i started harder drugs... specially heroin... and it had little efect on me, but i desired to do it so much i kept using and using it, until i had to inject 10g of it everyday... and as i kept smoking weed along using h, my sensitivity to it went too low i had to eat the h with the munchies, like 50g/day, for feel its effects... im a complete junkie... and everything started with a seemingly harmless joint... oh... how i regret it now... if i knew... my life would be so different... :( :sadcrying

I read this while really stoned a few weeks ago (on this board), and it ruined my high completely. It pisses me off.

No drug in existence makes people use other drugs. It's all in the person's personality. If there is any drug that aids in people deciding to use heroin, it would be prescription opiates, such as OxyContin, Morphine, Oxycodone, Codeine, etc. In fact, using morphine is basically using heroin, considering heroin is nearly exactly structurally the same as heroin (except that heroin acts quicker). A drug that is completely different from opiates is not going to cause tolerance from opiates... it doesn't make sense. Cannabinoid receptors are not opioid receptors. It's different. Look at this:

That completely contradicts what these supposed scientists have said.

They don't need to study these again--they've ALREADY been studied! These are obvious lies and fabrications, with NO research and scientific study done beforehand... so it does not have a lick of truth.

Not only that, but like others have said, most of us here would never do heroin. I've done oxycodone, but that was before I've ever started smoking Cannabis. IN FACT, smoking Cannabis helped me get rid of my addiction to opiates! How ironic, you fucking lame scientists.

I think if someone starts smoking weed then moves on to heroin, etc., he is either predisposed to bingeing on substances or there is some sort of mental trauma or insecurity that he is trying to escape at more extreme degrees the older he gets.

Some people also have a natural high tolerance for any type of inebriation. I remember being 13 or so and needing more of the pot or the alcohol to get to the same point as others (kids, don't drink).

I will say that mj can be addictive and does alter brain activity. That's what makes a drug a drug. Coffee is the same; different brain activity, different mood, etc. You can be addicted to coffee or mj, the difference is, they are mild substances, with mild temporary effects and mild long-term effects, and you can easily support those habits and live a normal life. The nature of a drug like heroin is one that makes it more difficult to support the habit and still function like everyone else.
