Everybody loves a pothead, were chill understanding loving people. I toke everyday and like to toke a bowl to myself at times. Everyone knows that and no one looks at it as bad. Yet I know of other seniors that drink everyday and most people feel concerned about them.
Has pot finally become more acceptable than drinking? Why is it percieved as worse to drink alone than toke on your own?
Cannabis will never be more socially acceptable than alcohol.
It's hard to be a functioning alcoholic. Being functional is a given on weed for me.
Well around the group of people I hang around with, yes, I'd say weed is always there, whereas the booze isn't.
Now as far as a general consensus, I'd have to say that drinking is still what's cool whereas weed still gets me a few dirty looks. Oh well, there's always another lifetime..

Not so much with outsiders than with people who have actually had experience with both.
My non-smoking friends were more than happy to get smashed and vomit up their stomach's contents, but when I pulled out a joint (outside) they distanced themselves from me, and when I offered a hit, they waved it off, and went back to their cigarettes.
All depends on where your at. More acceptable in some places than others, also depends on the crowd you run with. Obviously its more acceptable at a place like...cannabis.com than at a bar.
I'd say its probably close to 50/50 weed/booze acceptance.
In certain circles I'd say it is. Overall, probably not but I like to hope that it is getting close :jointsmile:
I'd say alcohol. People that love to get drunk and do stupid shit and get into trouble with it all the time look down on me for being a stoner. I really don't get it. Like, they call me a stoner a lot as an insult. Sometimes if im arguing with someone they'll just be like "Go smoke weed." I don't see how that's an insult I just say "uh...ok."

No, not even close. You can go to a bar in every city in the US and get drunk, how many bars can you go to and get high?
A few months ago on the news, they had a story about how weed is very anti-social and not acceptable in todays society.
Fucking retards, they showed 3 interviews, with 3 retards saying that its such a bad drug and it fucks your brain up and is dangerous.... they obviously didn't know what the fuck they were talking about.
The only fuckin reason its not accepted is because the government brainwashes people in to thinking that.

Englands great, weed is illegal yet you can walk out of your house down the street with a joint in one hand and a beer in other and no one cares - you can even score in broad daylight in almost all places without even having to worry about getting done - even if theres CCTV.
Saying that - it's still not good enough and should be fully legal.
I don't know, but I do think that more and more people every day are becoming accepting of Cannabis, and more and more people are also realising the dangers of alcohol. I don't know if weed will ever become more acceptable, but I hope so :D

i agree with macwq reefer will never be more socially acceptable than alcohol i have to keep it a secret and i do. i have 2 or 3 friends i smoke with and that's all. most of friends have no idea. i have even heard them said mean stuff about potheads they know, all the while they're sucking down booze. makes me kind of pissed. i don't drink hardly any but i sneak around to burn one. ain't is a shame.

I don't think that weed is more socially acceptable than drinking. Among the high schoolers and college kids, I don't find too many anymore who give you shit for being a stoner, but they'll still turn you in of they see you toking up during school hours (even if you're not on campus). And there's all the older generations who grew up with a "pot is evil" mentality, and still continue to have one.
I think, yes, eventually, it will become just as accepted. Or better (but only assuming if alcohol gets illegalized). But that might not happen in any of our lifetimes. Sure, it could possibly gets legalized in some of our lifetimes, but not as socially accepted.
The world I see, it's nowhere close to being acceptable. The ideology most common place lacks in reason, and compassion. It's saddens me how people want to destroy another's life in anyway they can.
The way I see it, it's just some cannabis.
i know in my highschool, almost everyone thinks that weed is more acceptable than alcohol. someone who smokes every day is just seen as a stoner, but someone who gets wasted every day is a fucking loser.
