Police harassment/profiling?

Okay, so a friend of mine who has never been caught with weed, has been having problems with the police lately. In the past year he has been pulled over 50+ times (i know that sounds like an exaggeration, but in all seriousness, most of these have been witnessed by me or other friends of ours.) He is african american and does smoke marijuana but like i said, has never been caught. I am wondering if there are any legal actions that he can/should take. He went in to the police department the other day to talk to them about it, and when they pulled up his records, it only showed up that they have stopped him 5 (five) times.(Out of the 50 times he actually has been pulled over, including the 5 that were recorded, he has not been issued a single ticket, nor was he given a legitamite reason for being pulled over.) I also thought it was mandatory that whenever the police pull you over, that they must record it. (This is true in San Francisco however im not sure if it is here in the Raliegh metro area of NC.) He is extremely fed up with this seeing to the fact that he gets pulled over literally almost every other day. I was with him one day when he got pulled over three times, doing nothing wrong. Undercovers are also commonly seen sitting outside of his neighborhood and driving through his neighborhood. I am looking to help him out and he is also thinking about getting an attorney. thats only my opinion, im the type thats sick of all the bullshit, ever since i got sick of all tthe bullshit and started "canceling it out" no bullshit has come down my alley in a LONGGGGG time

what exactly is the reasoning your friend gives these coppers for pulling him over all the time. ... ? theres gotta to be some reason they do this...

any of his friends or dealers get busted? is he dealing? i live in NC, sure its the south and some people don't like black people. but hes far from the only black guy around raleigh. maybe you should rethink riding with this guy. sounds like the cops got some info and think its true.

The only possibility is if he sold to someone who then got caught and ratted him out. However he hardly ever deals. And even so, could they do what they are doing, to the extent that they are doing it?

one day, i was arrested, for nothing, and before that i was harrased daily by police, i was only 15 years old, they cuffed me, kicked me, pulled my cheeks, started talkin alot of shit, started talking bad bout my friends tho they didnt know them, called me a crackhead good fornothing that shuld just join the army and die in iraq to put my mother out of her misery, etc. i will never put myself ina situation of getting arrested, id rather die....bam bam, fuk the police

Well the reason he has never been caught is because, he/we never ride dirty. He is extremely smart when it comes to keeping things on the down low. And damn to that last post, is that not police brutality?

guys. i know this sounds stupid and shit, but its a very rare case that a cop would waste that much time on somebody that they didn't have something on. i mean. it comes down to simple logic really. it cost money to devote time and units to watching a specific person. even in a small town the resources are just not there to devote. come on people get smart to it. if you think the cops are watching you all the time you might wanna put your ear to the ground and see if you can find out if anybody recently took a bust. as much as alot of people hate the cops its just irrational to think that you are just being picked on. cops are alot smarter than you think. remember that time that you rolled through that licence/booze it and loose it check point after just hot boxing the car (anyone who has been a stoner for very long at all has probably had this experiance) and they let you go? its not because you played it cool and fooled them. more than likley they just said fuck it we got bigger fish to fry. look at it this way. take the person that you hate the most in this world. would you follow them around all the time just to bug them? doubt it. to much time and effort

Yes twenty you are right, we just can not figure out who did narc on him. He is a well known stoner, so the police must have gotten info from someone. The reason theyre after him is because he deals with the big fish... if you know i'm sayin.

Well I must say our friend is very smart. They got thier eye on him to rat some one out. I'm in NC too and they can make up reasons to pull you and not record it. The fact he went to complain means they want him more. He needs to be very very carefull. Lawyer won't do any good. I'm not far away he might want to move for a while. Once these redneck cops get the cent they don't give up. My nephew ratted on me for growing when he got busted for coke. Good luck to your friend. Peace bro.

There is a video out there by a come from texas who talks about how to not get busted again because he realized the war on drugs was crap maybe your friend should find it... iirc its called never get busted again.

How does he interact with the cops. Does he pull an attitude with him? Cause if he does then they will remember him and just to be the dicks they are will fuck with him on every opportuinity possible just to fuck him over.

it would be nice if it was legal, but it in fact is not. and cops are after stoners. if you advertise the fact that you smoke, you're giving them a reason. great for all you activists out there. but if you're careful and smart, you'll never have to worry about dealing with cops.

I only have this to say.... cops do not go out of there way unless they have a reason to. Its like any other job people have they dont do anything unless noted otherwise. I myself have alot of problems with cops and im def the stoner looking kid, but they never give me shit.

Ive been pulled over doing 90 retarded stoned, and i only got a ticket for after 12 driving wich was really nice concidering i had exp. insurnace card.

My point is, cops... if spoken to correctly , couldnt give 2 shits what ur doing if ur not being a problem. When outside people get involved then that have pressure on the cops to do there job, but other wise its a joke, ive never been asked about drugs tho ive almost lost my license 2wice and my car is the typical drugdealer car. But when i get pulled i act like nothing is up but the reason for him stopping me.

I got asked to get out of my car once walk to the back by the cruizer and he said my eyes were glassy and red, i didnt even respond and he was like ok u can go back, sometimes saying nothing is good, but never act like cops are out to get you cause then ur shady.

Its like if ur going for a walk and buring some and a cop rolls by, do u make it a point to show him ur doing nothing wrong...? NO! u act like ur going for a freakin walk, dont give them reason to belive your hiding something.

Yea I wouldn't say cops aren't out to get you but thats another post..............I think if you are open about being a stoner you do make yourself more of a target but just being open doesn't permit unlawful stops,searches and seizures. At the same time you can only pull a stoner over before ulterior motives start appearing. Yes cops can target one group set group of individuals bc what They are individuals. Cops do not hate anyone because they love law and order but the entity behind the badge is susceptible to human like follies; racism,sexism, etc. I think your friend might be a target for some reason or another and it doesn't fucking matter the only thing that does matter are the rights of said citizen being violated. I think the next time he is puled over he should immediately ask(or when the time is right, more than likely he should wait till they ask to get in his car) why he is being pulled over and if no answer is given he should repeat his name, social and address. If they choose to arrest him he would be entirely in his right. If he doesn't like that rout then don't answer shit till his attorney is preset. I think we as a society(society of stoner's) not hobbyists should stand up for our rights. I think that would be the best tactic to prevent future harassment. If he just keeps taking it he will just keep getting it.Oh and before someone tries to say "Easier said then done" I've done exactly that. I was detained for 2hrs and my attorney cam and got me out. Tell him to bring a video camera....record the shit....if he does it a few times cops will back off....if not somehow get it into the media...bam....problem solved.

The funny part of the whole thing is, I have been caught with weed by the police, and never bothered again. (No charges, mom had to pick me up) He on the other hand has not been caught, and he gets shit all the time. It's just all confusing to me haha. Sorry if I'm just being stupid about this whole ordeal.

He should document, date, time, and location for every event he got pulled over..always ask for the badge no. You have a right to know who pulled you over. Getting pulled over 50+ in a year is definitely fishy. He should get a camera, he needs to document as much as he can.

yes I think documentation should be used but any filming has to be outed before anything else happens. It sucks but the only ppl who can film you without any knowledge are the cops. Oh and any documentation done by him probably should be back up by multiple ppl and if thats you then that means getting involved on the record Damn keep me posted man i deff have an interest in your boy.
