pipe problem!

Here's the problem

I recently bought a new bong, and a new hand pipe kind of thing.. Anyway, I really wanted to try them out, so I met up with my mates and tried the bong, which was sweet as fuck, smoked really well, and got us blazed.. Then I decided to try the hand pipe.. It's about 5 inches long, glass, and looks pretty nice.. but whenever I try and take a hit from it, it burns the back of my throat something crazy!! It's horrible to smoke out of, so I gave up and used the bong.. Now, i've smoked out of pipes millions of times, but it had been a while.. So, without sounding like a full-on noob, what the fuck am i doing wrong? LOL thanks :p

(P.S. the picture isnt actually the same as mine, but its similiar.. )

either you need to put more weed in the bowl or maybe you need a filter...

Try using a glass screen... it absorbs most of the excess heat... If you don't wanna buy one, just find a small mrism like peice of shattered glass from a car window.

Give it time to resin up a bit, and i'm sure after that it'll be fine. I bet it's just little bits of cherry hitting your throat.

LOL i never seen one of them things i dont think many people use them here.It looks like a glass penis dildo thingy.Is that what a pipe is ?

i have over 100 pipes and hookas and bongs,,i now only use a hemp only pipe and or bong,,,i got pics of more of my hemp pipes all over this site

I agree. Once you get some resin, most of the little bits coming through the hole will stick to the resin instead (and consequently building up a nice treat later). Just don't take your hits too deep for the time being.

And yes, Jackelyne, that's a pipe. They're quite popular around here, and they don't look like penises (well, at least not like mine). It's one of the finest ways of smoking IMHO.

A nice glass pipe is always a good choice, but I love the variation of mixing in joints once in a while (dro joints are a real treat!!)...

Try to adjust the angle of pipe to mouth contact ratio.
Roatate the pipe up and down, side to side as you inhale. The result will change the point where the inhale hits your lung.

Lite the bud, then take the lighter away. That also may be your probelm.
You may want to try a screen. If your smoking cut-up but you may be getting burning embers in your throat.

I thought using a screen was standard procedure... meh maybe us Canucks are fucked up like that. So yeah, do as that guy said and put in a screen if you haven't had one in before.

HempHeadJack... you are my idol. It looks like you make your own bongs, which is what I do also.
