Cannabis with low electricity costs.
Here's the problem.
I can have one mother plant per adult, although.... we are not allowed to use air ventilation, lighting, ph meters, ....
I'd like to grow my own buds, but I want to do it the right way! Our gouverment has caught a lot of growers through the high electricity bill.
Is it possible to grow good smokable weed with a 100 watt lamp and what breed of weed will you suggest? I was thinking about Skunk #11....
If somebody just tell me how to go from A to Z I'd be very very thankful :)
See you!

Hmmm, have you considered taking a close look at your current energy consumption? It might be possible for you to cut corners elsewhere so you can use a more powerful lamp for your plants.

your government isn't catching people who grow with only 1000W of lighting
they are catching people who have 15 1000W lights
you can grow with a 600W lightm, cut some electricity around your house
and you wont have any problems.
100W is quite low, you could probaly grow 1 plant under it.

Yes, but I know nothing of our electricity meter. The only thing I know is we pay every month the same for electricity. Just at the end of the year they tell you if you paid too much or too less. If you paid too much they paid you back,... it's understandable I fear the end of the year with not knowing what's coming in the bill.

How sure are you? What law sais that and where? If this is true I am very thankful for your help, but I know there's a lot of discussing going on here with a belgian cannabis federation whom say: why legalize a plant while we can't grow buds on them?
Anyway, thank you both... this means a lot to me and I will figure this out...
If Harris is right I'll defenitly grow 2 females under 600w lamps. Because I want to do it right,... It'll be a shame if I see a plant grow to be nothing :( and not only financialy lol
Best regards!

it is because it is impossible to catch such small grows though power consumption.
realize that a hot tub (i know many people with them)
uses 400$ in electricity a month...
so a normal person can have one device that belittles even a large grow

Use HPS.,
CFL's have a lower efficiency,
thus they use more electricity to create the same amount of light.

Lol if they are busting people for the amount of electricity they are using I feel sorry for the innocent tech freaks in your country. I'm pretty sure they aren't busting you just for using 100-1000 watts of light, just doesn't make sense and it's quite stupid if you ask me. Go ahead and buy the light you want and grow the buds you deserve :hippy: .

now matter how small your appt, if you use say 100w's of cfl for veg, and 200w of hps for flower, you wouldn't be raiising any suspicions; if you change out the rest of teh bulbs in your house for cfl and not use too much power, you could end up saving on electricity :)

well, that sounds like you only have one meter for the appt complex? if that's so, it's definitely i your advantage. we have individual metering here, and i actually got lucky and got a look at the room the meters are in the other day; they're just digital meters with total power used on them; i don't even know if the electric company keeps the data of what time of day you're using power, unless of course you're under investigation
you should find out, but if you just have one meter for the whole complex (for example, here gas is just one-meter for all the units and we split costs (which in that case royally sucks since my neighbors seem to need to have 90F temps in winter and i hardly use it) ) but i digress; one meter for the complex could be a very good thing
the amount of power you're thinking of using is negligable.
i'm going to be starting growing: about 150w cfl's for veg, and a single 250w hps for flower, one closet cut into two rooms
drchon shipped my seeds! one week baby; i'll probably have one mother and two clones in veg at any given time, and have two flowering

ditto; the only reason to use flouro's for flowering is heat

i imagine that's a cfl yo; you'll just need more juice; but yes, lumens is the important measurement
lumens/watt is your efficiency; how much light it puts out for how much power it uses;
HPS is most efficient, folowed my MH, and then different types of flouro: t5HO might be most efficient flouro, but i'm not sure

The lumens are important in knowing how much light you need for your space.
try to keep it above 5000 lumens per sq foot
Watts just let you know how much your grow is going to cost in power.
If you are going to have a largish grow 400+watts. try to go for MH and HPS they will be cheaper in power in the long run.
ALso, Disregard the "equivalent" wattage.
So your bulbs are 15W equivalent to 60W.
Forget the 60W, itâ??s just a marketing tool so that you know which bulbs to buy to replace what in your house. When telling people what your using, use the Actual power consumption
Here is a Thread I made regarding power consumption and the cops.
It may be of interest to the original poster

Today when i was in the store, i was looking for some grow lights, they had the HPS and the ML but they say you need a ballast, the only ones they had there were for a Fl. light, will that one work? and another question, i seen some incondecent bulbs for plant growth, and i was wondering if those would work?

DO not USE INCONDECENT BULBS
and start your own thread if you have questions, dont steal

Cannabis with low electricity costs.
92 lumen/watt T5H0's for veg room
140 lumen/watt HPS's for flower room
doesn't get better than that

I use a 150 watt HPS witha 70 watt MH. I get 3-4 ounces every 50-70 days or so. Wiith ventilation running 24/7, this box costs about $20.00 a month to run.

yes this is good id say for you what plantboxer says is good and cost afective :D

so for 10 plants(white widow) what would be a suitable amount of light?

wo, do you mean you can legaly have 1 plant per adult?
thats cool
i guess the ventilation and lighting restrictions are for sustainability reasons?

Do those low watt HID lights require a ballast?
-
Cannabis with low electricity costs.
Wondering which watts, working.:wtf:
Lets start of with TV, CD,Printers,Sound sys, and the dreaded incan. light
One turn off all of them with the plug !!!!!! , they are on hot standby all the time.:(
Next replace all lamps incand's with CPF they are not worth a dam for growing , but keep the buggie man away.
If your on a common meter , the management looks at them every month and can easly find out whos using the power.
I installed a meter (just like the power company's) It cost about 84 bucks a month for 1.000 and 8 4footers 40 watts each, co2 , fans, pumps, meters, computers, etc.
Noise, smell are friends (?) ARE the biggest problems with growing.
NO:Tomcat: :Tomcat: :Tomcat: TE the space under you nose is the most dangerous part of growing.

all liughts except normal incandescent have ballasts. cfls and other flouros, the ballasts are attached to the light itself..
