British crew: Iran blindfolded detainees

ROYAL MARINE BASE CHIVENOR, England - British sailors and marines held for nearly two weeks in Iran were blindfolded, bound and threatened with prison if they did not say they had strayed into Iranian waters, a Royal Navy lieutenant who was among the capitives said Friday.

Lt. Felix Carman, safely home with his 14 colleagues, said the crew faced harsh interrogation by their Iranian captors and slept in stone cells on piles of blankets. Unable to see and kept isolated, they heard weapons cocking.

"We were blindfolded, our hands were bound and we were forced up against a wall. Throughout our ordeal we faced constant psychological pressure," Carman said. "All of us were kept in isolation. We were interrogated most nights and presented with two options. If we admitted that we'd strayed, we'd be on a plane to (Britain) pretty soon. If we didn't, we faced up to seven years in prison."

Air said she was singled out for propaganda purposes, held in solitary confinement and told the others had gone home.

"Being an Islamic country, Faye was subjected to different rules than we were. She was separated as soon as she arrived, and was told that her colleagues had been flown home," Air said. "She coped admirably and has maintained a lot of dignity."

Here's the thing. psycological pressure is exactly what our interrogators use when they are not beating, stacking or sicking the dogs on prisoners. That is what captors do. I haven't heard of waterboarding, have you. they didn't rendition them to some foriegn torture chamber. Psycological interrogation is the least harmful of the choices captors have to accomplish their goals. Did any of them complain of physical torture, NO, so go on with your they're so Bad and we're so righteous bullshit. When you compare what happened to them to what happened in Abu-Graib, I'd say they got off easy. And as far as the Pelosi thing, thank God someone has the sense to talk to our "enemies". Some time I'll take you on about the issues in Palestine, Syria, Jordan, and the rest of the middle east we havent bombed yet, Maybe someone with 2 braincells left working, can see the conditions those people are living under, and make some changes to their condition. If you ever want a peaceful middle east, you have to address the living conditions of the people. But I'm sure your solution is to just Bomb them. Coming up on target, 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 Bombs away!!!

Our boys we're treated much less harshly than in Iranian captive would've been by us. I think cuffing and blindfolding isn't much compared to systematic physical and sexual abuse.

When you see videos of the captives playing ping pong and sitting around joking and laughing, kind of makes you wonder if it wasn't the British Government that was putting the spin on the captives treatment. It certainly looked to me like it wasn't staged, And, how many times have we released hostages and given them gift bags, LOL, Not once. I'd bet they were told to give a negative accounting of their captivity or they'd be punished for admitting they were in Iranian waters.

LOL, yeah I saw that too on Glenn Beck. Nice to see the guy isn't biased 100% of the time. Right from the beginning of this I took a wait-and-see approach since either government could and would lie. Looks like it's the British government losing credibility this time. In fact Iran probably planned it this way, to treat the captives just fine then let the British spin it, then release the videotapes of big-screen television soccer matches. Mrdevious your right but i do think that Iran did treat them well only for the fact it puts them on a good foot with other countries it looks like Iran is so EVIL after all.Then that Iranian diplomat who was captured in Baghdad goes back to Iran and says he was tortured with bruises to show for it and he says the Americans are to blame for his torture classic.So even if he is bullshitting about the torture are you going to believe him or the country that admits to torturing its prisoners.Everybody in the world knows how the U.S treats its prisoners and Bush and the gang lose even more credability.

It's dreadful that our sailors and marines were put through such an ordeal. But under the correct government, the British armed forces should be protecting one country, and that is Britain herself, and nobody else. We are not the worlds police force. It is not our responsibility to end the worlds conflicts.

Well Psycho you got me on that one.I really only heard about it on this forum so i cant really comment no media has said anything about up here that ive heard.But its really disgusting as far as im concerned.But oil vultures are oil vultures no matter what country they are from.

Canadian contractors were banned from business in Iraq until the Canadian gov. forgave 80% of their debt (about $470 mill). Then the good times started to roll.......I forget the actual name of the company but it's your largest if I recall correctly. Somewhere in this forum is the actual thread regarding the contract.
