Don't smoke in public (stupid) ... My first Cop experience

Now before I begin to tell my story, I'd like to say I've always thought smoking in public is extremely sketchy and not cool. An easy and stupid way to get caught. The way things turned out last night was extremely lucky. And the cop couldn't have told me enough, I could have been in jail last night. I'm only 16 and never caused much trouble at all.

So I had my best friend over from out of town and we decided we wanted to go to a movie and smoke behind the theater. I have never done that before....but I was just like whatever. So we got there....we both had our pipes......and quite a bit of dank. We walked to the back of the theater looking for places to smoke....We decided to go all the way to the back of the lot and smoke. Dumb. Security guy comes out as were were packing and tells us we need to go in the movie or leave. We told him we were gonna go into the movie.

Instead we walk over a few parking lots in another plaza and start packing again. We see a civilian SUV pull up about 100 feet away. We just thought it was a family or something going somewhere. But a conservative looking dude gets out and walks toward us. I tell my friend and he just walks away. I honestly thought it was the security guy again. But it was a different guy.

He asked

"You guys smoking some pot out here"

I say "Maybe"

"So if I search you I could find some incriminating stuff"

"yes, sir"

"Well guess what", he pulls out something....Scariest moment of my life....I thought it was handcuffs. But he says "I'm a sheriff and If I wanted I could take you to jail, do you want to go to jail tonight?"

"ofcourse not, I better call my dad", thinking I'd be arrested there and then.

But the next moments were some of the biggest moments of relief I have ever experienced.

"Well I could take you to jail, but I want you guys to leave"

"Can we go to our movie?"

"No, just get out of here before I change my mind"

I shake his hand and say thank you.

I got extremely lucky........

But I want to know what you guys think....did I handle it well for my first time having a run in with a cop? Is it stupid to smoke in public at all?

I now, will never smoke in public again, never!

I'd also like to note that after this I have decided to stay sober for at least 3 weeks.

huh... did he have a badge or anything to prove he was a sheriff?

i always smoke wereever i want, i smoke spliffs like ciggys. I'll light them up were i want when i want in front of who i want ive never been arrested for anything related to drugs and i hardly ever get stopped by swines who smell what im smoking and when i do i just keep toking till its gone. If you look dodgy and think of it as being serious u have a bigger chance of getting cought, if i look worried when they catch you they'd feed u full of shit.

i walk down less busy streets blazing all the time, i usually am wearing a hoody and using a bowl, if any car drives by i just put my thumb over my bowl and my hands in my hoody, and it doesnt look suspicious at all.

Haha. I smoke during third period everyday at school. I have PE and all we do is walk the track.

first of all dont quit for 3 weeks cuz getting caught gave u a reality check on life or w/e. ur minding ur buisness in a secluded area smoking marijuana not harming anyone. there was nothing wrong with what u were doing. ye its illegal, but how r we going to make it legal by sittin on our fat american asses and obeying every little thing police tell us like a bunch of sheep. keep smoking. peace and pot.

it all depends where your at outside. in the burbs your gonna get hassled and arrested. around me all we do is smoke outside, at the bus stop, church steps, porches and right on the corner. city police dont give 2 shits about weed they got bigger fish to fry. if they do come at you all their gonna do is take it or dump it out then send you on your merry way.

i got caught once... got a ticket and shit man.... i was 15 at the time... i think its entirely fucked up to fuck up our records and shit just for having weed... eventually it will be legal, my state just voted about legallizing bud, 47% said yes man....

Ya smoking in public is definitely not a good idea, esecially in an area where people can see you. But hey I gotta give you props for not getting into any shit. But if your ever faced with a situation like this again the best thing to do is deny, deny, deny. For example "No sir I dont do any drugs im just waiting here for a friend"..etc..

exactly. if your looking around all paranoid about something then of course they are gonna suspect something. But if you just play it cool you should be okay.

you got pretty lucky, it's cool that he let you off easy. the other night i was with my friend and he's all nervous about us getting caught so he wants to go to the park since it's pitch black there. i'm like screw it so i just light the bowl as we're walkin down the street then we just smoked more when we got there but he was always worried.

FFS! thats not what its about at all!

I like to smoke down by the river after school a lot, but that's in the woods, not in the middle of the street... just a tip, no matter who it is unless you're POSSITIVE it's safe, ALWAYS deny deny deny deny DENY you're doing anything at all illegal. Don't give anyone any reason to think you're toking/were toking cause you never know who people really are.

if your gonna do something stupid you might as well do it smart as possible. thats what i always say. In my experiences the only time you get in trouble for smoking in public is when your not up on your shit. Most public smokers i've seen get busted were acting like jackasses and thats why the cop approached them in the first place.but I suppose every areas different.

be gracious, my first few run-ins with the fuzz went pretty well too, even when they knew we were smokin. But hope u never get searched when you got enough dough to cop a computer & 4 bags of chronic

haha. One time, at about 4am, myself and about 4 other people came back from Acuna, Mexico. We were in the drive thru of Wataburger in Del Rio, Tx. All of us loaded up in a 4 door F250 on 35s. We were doing a HELLA burnout (ever seen a 3/4 ton diesel do a burnout?). Well this dude in front of us in line.....gets out of a black trailblazer and starts walking towards us.....we were drunk drunk and I said "Hey zack....i think we're gonna have to whip this guys ass!"

Well as he got closer, he reached into his pocket, pulled out a badge and showed it to us right as he got up to the truck. We were like oh fuck. The first thing to come out of his mouth was "what the fuck!?". Turns out he was DRUNK as fuck too! He threatened to have us arrested. His 'gf' in the car gets out and was like "do you want me to call backup?" I said "hey man, we're just getting food...we are staying literally next door at Motel 6. I could actually see our door from where we were in the drivethru-line.

Good thing he didn't take us to jail because I had already had a run-in with Del Rio police the night before for jumping on a car. Cost me 500bux to get out of that....

I think the two seperate occasions were linked, meaning, the first guy gave info the the 2nd. You got really lucky. I've smoked in public a countless number of times and only been caught once, but i got off coz it's England. You can get away with it and when you do it feels amazing, but the opposite sucks. Use your best personal judgement at all times, good luck in the future, i hope you never have another encounter with the feds.

I got a friend that always wants to smoke in stupid ass places where we could get caught, I call him on being a douche.

I will deny in the future...but it's possible that my honesty got me out of this one.

Don't let there be a future time. Don't smoke in public, it's just not a good idea*. This stuff is not legal, don't screw around! Also, when you do things like smoke in public or act like an idiot in public while high**, you just make stoners look terrible and you make it even less likely that the stuff will become legal. Be responsible about your toking, toke in a safe place and don't act like a moron.

*Some acceptable public places to smoke imo, are places like wide-open parks. For example, if you sit on a bench or something and make it look like you're smoking a cigg (that means not blatantly passing a joint around), people won't know the difference as long as they don't come close to you.

**It's cool to be high in public, but don't be one of those idiots who walks around with their eyes bloodshot blatantly acting stoned, it's not really cool at all.

i blaze in public but im smart about it... i never do it in front of anyone, i walk down moderately empty streets and i stash it when cars come around, or i take a walk down to the prairies, thats a widely empty place that i blaze freely at all the time... if its not windy... sometimes before school theirs this secluded area about a block away that blocks us from the streets vew and is surrounded by a fence and 2 rears of buildings, i go down their to blaze sometimes. just pick the right places is all im saying

mate, dont get freaked out coz of one bad experience, though i gotta say, you are a bit of a fool, why the fuck would you smoke a pipe in a public parking lot

if youre in your car and you wanna light a pipe, fine, as long as you park somewhere quiet, but just hanging out is pure stupid, for public smoking always, ALWAYS use joints, they look enough like cigs for people to ignore, keep your smoke away from children (dont inhale, exhale around parents walking with kids), and youll be fine, as no one will care, if people do realize your smoking weed theyll just think of it as harmless and ignore you, one time i was at the pub for a poker tournament, whipped out a massive joint, this was like the type of joint snoop dog smokes when he wants to get fucked up, and lit it up, nobody gave two shits, you just gotta be discreet from now on when smoking in public,

pipes in a parking lot, may as well walk into the local cop shop (thats australian for police station) and light up a bong

i think its funny everytime someone gets caught doing something it was the first time doing it. lol my ass everyone smokes in public one time or another.
