Britain takes case against Iran to U.N.

UNITED NATIONS - Britain took its case to free its 15 sailors and marines held by Iran to the United Nations on Thursday, asking the Security Council to support a statement that would "deplore" Tehran's action and demand their immediate release.

But Security Council diplomats said the statement circulated by Britain's U.N. Mission is likely to face problems from Russia and others because it says the Britons were "operating in Iraqi waters" â?? a point that Iran contests.

The British move came as Iran rolled back on its promise to release Faye Turney, the sole female British sailor among the captives, and a senior Iranian official suggested all of them may be put on trial.

Iran's military chief, Gen. Ali Reza Afshar, said that because of the "wrong behavior" of the British government, "the release of a female British soldier has been suspended," the semiofficial Iranian news agency Mehr reported.

Oh, did I tell ya the exchange has dropped a bit over 200 points now. With the economic growth (that isn't happening) and the oil contracts with several countries (which isn't happening) and also the revival of their agriculture industry (which isn't happening) their currency is getting stronger. Bet the people can't wait to receive them oil checks for 3 times the average annual income. LMAO....but it isn't happening, right?:D

The Iranian Government is (I believe) drawing attention away from the recent nuclear restriction talks and trying to highlight this incident.

How can any American even remotely be on the side of the iranians when they are chanting "death to America" and "death to Britain"? Free speech is a great thing, but when it's put in the hands of idiots, free speech becomes the greatest enemy against the U.S. and the soldiers. It has almost become embarrassing how divided the U.S. has become. You live in America, if you don't like the president or how things are ran, then get out, go to Iran, but first convert to muslim so they don't kill you. I dont trust anything that any goverment says! When i see this stuff on tv i realy try not to take sides, I just feel sorry for the people getting hurt! I remember the Iranians doing this back in 1979 to the 52 American hostages and holding them for 444 days, only to release them once Jimmy Carter(D)was no longer president and Ronald Regan (R) was officially in office they awaited on the tarmac until regan was president, to spite Jimmy Carter and also because Ronald Regan said he'd take the hostages back by force and the Iranians knew it.
