can people with experience recommend me a good soil to use for outdoors?.. I'm thinking of Miracle Grow, But people are telling me that its too powerful and will kill the plant.. is this true?

You are far better off to use a really nice compost for outdoors!
You're in the States... chances are there is an Agway near you... go check out the store-brand composted cow manure with humus. It is black gold.
Your outdoors...you don't need much but a simple addition to your backyard soil (in most cases). For profesional results you should get your soil tested. Most area's have a university nearby that'll test it for free and doing it once is usually enough for a lifetime as long as good farming practices are used, but if nothing else, be sure to check your PH, both soil and tap water (although tap water in an outdoor grow isn't near so critical it's still a good thing to know). Any garden/nursery worth using carries the simple test kits and anyone who can read can do it. Once done with that I mix in quality potting soil into a hole and replace with original soil mixing them pretty much equally (also a good place to use the soil from an indoor grow that's finished). Be sure your hole has good drainage and area is secure from marauders. I use the same ferts I used in the indoor but at a little higher ratio and set up the sprinkler on a timer...then kick back and watch the grass grow!
Try this mix, I experiment, here's a good one for ya:
Wood ash, pearlite, horse manure, red clay, potting soil, ground soil, boiled water, vermiculite, a random fertilizer for feeding, egg shells, lettuce, leaves.
Mix more and less of each depending on your needs. Be very careful though, it will produce dankity dank dizzle dank mizzle.
I dont have an Agway near my house but i have a Home Depot. Im also growing it in a pot, not in the ground.. so soil brand suggestions would be great
MG may not be the best, but it will work despite what people say. Its a little high on N and a bit slow to drain, so lighten it up with about 30-40% perlite. If not, get any brand of high quality potting soil and you will do fine. Add some perlite. This is not nearly as complicated as some seem to make it. Start out simple just like if you were growing any other flower or vegetable. You can always experiment with "designer" nutes and other additives later.

well i would go with what stinky said, its nice and organic. But if you going to buy soil at homedepot go for Scotts potting soil, and try to avoid anything that says "feeds up to 3 months"Quote:

Yes, you can, just make sure it's porous. Also, make sure to add some sulphur/sulphate(ash) to balance out all that nitro. :)
