How private is email? Do certain words (like marijuana, weed, etc) set off alarms at the fbi station or something?
I'd really like to know cause all these years I've been talking about weed in great detail over email (and I love to talk about it!), and it would suck to have to start using cryptic messages or whatever.

I always assumed they only go after huge dealers, or ppl with criminal records, or something. It just doesn't sound plausible that they'd spend all their time and money looking up ppl like me who like to share a few weed stories now and then. But I could be wrong.

i doubt it, unless they have a warrant. it's a invasion of privacy, but i'm not really sure... the cops will do anything to bust someone for loving the herb

Hey. Cell phones used to be rigged on cetain words back in the 90's, im not sure if that is still legal today. Or where it's legal.
My buddy has programming knowladge from 1st year college, which says alot about whats out thier if you learn this in first year college. How to find out the originating city and your internet service provider, of anyone on any email chains. All the people who passed on the e-mail, pending no-body copy's and pastes it into a new e-mail compostion.
Yeah so pretty much anybody can find out where you live. Or in what city you live in via e-mail. But i don't think people really care to hack random people as much anymore. Viruses are everywhere.
Ohh and legal wise the cops can try and bully the service provider into giving specific information about certain I.P addresses. Which may possibly used legally against you somewhere.
But I believe they need a warrent for that, and I think their is a bunch of legal and political reasoning decideing why thigns are the way they are. Poeple are paying the government in my opinion, to keep certain things form being cracked down on. Like whats up with all this spyware and adware. The government mus be paid off not to deal with these poeple who are invading peoples computers.

I'll bet cyber laws are quite similar to actual laws. I remember recently a case going for some southern state court that ruled the cops were OK is obtaining a search warrant after they searched somebody :(

She got several emails and even an emailed document for proof of bank registery an other details,that appeared to give legitamacey to the whole mess. We got kind of angry over the whole mess and I decided to look into filing a complaint-which led me to the 419 Coalition,a group of folks that handle the Nigerian money scammers and whom are civilians,I think. I never did file a complaint and I did not allow any cookies or anything else,to be inserted during my session at the website.
One day,several months later-we got a phone call from someone at the 419 Coalition and they said that they had been advised by the Secret Service,to warn us against using a certain bank,if we went through with the scam. I never entered any personal info into any form,nor did we call anyone officially. Needless to say-the hairs on my neck stood up ! Being a naturally paranoid person,it rocked my world ! lol I sort of felt glad,that the goverment was looking out for it's citizens..but at what price ? The monitoring of all overseas coms ?
One can use PGP to encrypt all coms-but your buddy,has to have it too..and that's the case with all coms,both parties have to have an encryption program and key. One can also use an anonymous proxy connection,but it's usually a pain in the butt and slows things down somewhat.

I heard that it's illegal for the US government to monitor the publics communications (internet, phone, etc) without warrents, and the same goes for the British government (illegal for them to monitor our communications), so the US and UK governments have an arrangement where the US government can monitor our communications, and the UK government can monitor British citizens communications, and both governments pretend to know nothing about it
I cant remember where I heard it, it was on some TV documentary, but it sounds feasible

Well, a while ago I seem to remember it being decided not to scan e-mails, but that doesn't mean no-one will. I wouldn't worry too much, just keep it low key. At the moment they are interested in terrorists and big dealers, not guys sharing small amounts of weed. Try to avoid the subject of actually paying for it at least. Also, if you can, ensure that if you do get arrested you can always claim it was someone else, don't let it be possible to prove you were involved.
