boss sais i cant quit?!

ok i called my job and quit today, and my boss is like "ok but you still need to come in today because were short handed" and i said "what? i dont have a ride and i just called you and quit" she said "yes but its your responsibility not mine, you need to call someone and get in here when your scheduled" ok for the record my boss is one of the many reasons im quiting, shes a total bitch. and their is no way im going in today if i just called and quit... my plan is to just not show up, i know their gonna call me, but theirs nothing they can do... right?

Dude work isnt fucking highschool. You have a choice of wether or not to show up to work, and they have the choice to fire you or not. Youre fine man, they cant do shit to you.

i work, correction, use to work at taco bell, and im 16 years old.
all of the bosses i work with just so happen to be really bitch females...
if im sick and i want to go home early, they keep me for extra hours...
if ive got a possession ticket to pay and i need extra hours, they send me home. just to fuck with me, on my birthday the only way i had to get home from work was on the bus, busses stop running at 6 and i was scheduled till 5... they kept me till 7, and my older brother (dumbass) told them it was my birthday so i could legally work past seven so they threatend to keep me till 8... i had fucking plans... they pissed me off so much that day. they contradict me, make fun of me and make me do the shit that nobody else wants to do. fuck them, i have way better job opportunities then taco bell.

i wonder how my dads gonna react when he wakes up at 1 pm (he works nights) i told him this morning that im considering getting a new job because they treat me like shit, he listened and understood. he had no objections... meh. the two words I and almost any other stoner use the most... fuck it.

I feel your pain man. I worked many jobs like that before I ended up in the career that I am in now. You will always tend to find jerks who end up as your boss but ocassionally you do get some good ones....like me :)

I would say (dont use them as a reference). And just try and keep a good attitude and work ethic in your next job. I can teach just about anyone how to do my job. I just have an extremely hard time finding people who have good attitudes and are willing to work hard and be coachable.

You would be amazed at how many business professionals come into fast food types of jobs looking for people who are working hard and have good attitudes. Thats how I got a few of my jobs and how I have found a bunch of my current team members. One at a resturant and one at a pizza joint. Guy just came up to me and said "would you be interested in coming to interview with me"?

noted, i do try to keep a good attitude, but its really hard to when they are out to make sure that my time is unpleasant (at least thats the way i see it)

another issue, should i call my boss now and tell her that their is absolutely no way im going in, or wait for her to call me and start bitching?

There is a thing called 2 weeks notice, which you generally have to give them 2 weeks notice before you officially stop going to that job.

But since they sound like assholes then I agree with you not going into work no more. Its just a shit job anyways, not like your gonna use them as a reference.

well at this point i was already suppose to be at work an hour ago, nobodies called, they should be smart enough that me not going is a clear sign that i would like them to fuck off.

I understand and I have revenged some jobs when I was young and being abused... if you want to start a resume you need to have a good work record is all I meant... if you find you can't get employment you may need that job again... Understand that most bosses are pricks,,,that is part of how they got the position...

yes but its not only that, i wanna work somewhere where if they say im gonna be off at five, then they wont make me work till eight... some people have shit to do, they use to keep me 2-3 extra hours just to piss me off. one time my friends all came to pick me up at five and the boss said, no im keeping you till seven. and i said no im scheduled till five, i have things i have to do, thats why schedules exist, to keep the things you have to do organized. i guess they assume were a bunch of losers with no life.

it was a bit irresponsible to just quit like that without posting 2 weeks notice, because youre screwing them on scheduled employees, but its your decision. no biggie, like i said its just taco bell or whatever you said.

dont be worried about anything, they have nothing they can do.

your best bet would be to show up to work until they hire someone else otherwise when you seek a new job they will call this job and you most likely will not get that job.

I did the same thing. Although I actually walked out half way through a shift. Meh, I was getting paid a student's allowance and didn't need the job anymore. And the only reason to work is if you have to.

2 weeks notice is a load of balls, they break schedules by telling you at short notice to work extra hours. It's hypocritical of them to complain if you decide to quit at short notice.

i worked at Kroger's for a while and they pulled shit like that on me too, so one day when i got sick of their shit i quit halfway through my shift. best decision of my life:D

I worked at a fast food place a year and a half ago, and your story reminds me of mine.

One night I was On Call [on call means that you need to call into the store at the beginning of the night shift to see if they need you: either because someone didn't show up or it's super busy], I called in when I was supposed to and they didn't need me. Then I was called like 3 or 4 hours later and was told that they "really needed me" and I "had to come in right away". Since this was around 8pm and i had plans (and was doing them lol), I questioned the supervisor extensively over the phone to make sure that he really did need me. Sure enough, I get there and the place is dead. All my coworkers are like "why are you here?" and I was like "(supervisor) called me and said you needed me." Their response? "Dude it's been totally dead all night!!"

arghhhh im still angry just thinking about it. fast food- never again.

I wanted to quit my job and never pick up their phone calls. My parent's made me keep it... Oh well, at least im getting a raise starting april. Damn it i have to go to work in half an hour =[

Anyway, i would've quit too if i was in your situation. There's other jobs out there. Good for you.

Cant believe nobody has mentioned this if you quit on a friday by just ringing up and saying quit they dont have to pay you for any of that week.

You won't get a positive job recommendation for future employment applications, but aside from that, you'll have no negative consequences for missing work.

I've fucked over a lot of employers behaving the same way you do. The last job I quit because I had stolen some cigarettes from behind the register. And as you would imagine, it is difficult to work someplace when you're awaiting the loss prevention supervisor to come interrogate you about the missing smokes. I was guilty and it was obvious so I quit. If I would have done anything different I would have had more self-control. I blame the whole staff when the true culprit was myself. I was responsible for the crime, and although I didn't fess up I did manage to get away before cash was deducted from my check. The point is, don't set yourself up for failure.
