A lesson on taking pictures...
hey all,
One too many threads do I see bad pictures, with blurry buds, so I'm going to tell you how to take a picture.
It's called the Macro setting. It is a little flower icon that comes up on your digi camera screen. For taking a close up of buds, use this setting.
If your camera doesn't have this setting or you can't figure it out, don't bother posting the picture. It looks awful and doesn't show the true beauty of the bud.
When the background is in focus and the bud isn't, you have it on the wrong setting, so use the macro.
That is all. Thanks you. :)

most useful setting ever, my cam is almost all the time on macro xD

Also make sure you have the right lighting because without it the bud doesn't really look as well either. I don't know about any one else but sometimes changing the "White Balance" helps me get better pics along with better light.

its also nice to have something like a lighter or a ruler to compare the size

Very nice! Background is blurry, bud isn't. A perfect example.

Try moving the camera farther away. Avoid going closer than 6 inches from the lens to the thing you're taking a picture of. :)
My cam. requires that you have to be far away, but use the digital zooms to get a close up. Avoid taking the picture from close up, on the macro setting. Try further away, then zoom in.
When I get too close with the lesn, it comes out blurry anyways.
Some cams require a 100% steady hand too. If you're hand is shaking, it can produce a blurry shot too.

What exactly does the macro setting do?
Im gonna be growing soon so I shall hopefully take some nice pictures of my baby.

Amost every cannabis picture should be taken in macro... it just makes sense..
i use additional lenses though, i use a 10x lens to put on top of the camera lens, it clears the pictures up alot, and you can get a little closer too, 30x lenses are pretty good, they need to be kept super-clean though, if they arent the picture comes out blurry...
heres a couple of mine..
Pic. 1 is Pink Frost, -(its a bit blurry..) and pic 2. is Dark Matter...

Great post Nochowder and good point on getting too close. I think this is the #1 error most people make. They want to get close up so they move the camera about 2-3 inches away and the pic ends up looking like shit. I'd rather see a clear picture of a not so close up than a blurry picture up close.
The best thing is to take a look at your camera manual to find the minimum focusing distance. I guarantee it's somewhere in there. Then, once you find the distance never get closer than that. Get a tape measure if you need to. But NEVER get closer.
Also, please take the bud out of the fuckin baggie. Unless, of course, you're specifically trying to show what the amount looks like in the baggie. The only thing I hate more than a blurry picture is blurry picture with the bud still in the bag and the poster asking "Is is good?" or, even worse, "What strain is it?". Hell, half the time you can't even tell if it's weed, et alone what strain. LOL.
One other point is that, especially in a macro mode, the amount of the bud that will be in focus(depth of field) is pretty small. Try to keep as much of the bud parallel to the plane of the lens as possible. In other words, if you are focusing on point 7" from the lens, try to keep as much of the bud as possible right at at 7". Anything closer than 6.75" or farther than 7.25" will most likely be out of focus and blurry. Does that make sense??
Anyhow, here's one I took the other night.
