Am I allergic to weed?

I just broke out badly in hives friday. Now I had been smoking pot about 2 or 3 times daily for the past week before that (low mids and dank).


I've only been smoking weed for three months. Before I would smoke 4 or 5 times a day but never did it for more then 3 days in a row. Is it possible I became allergic? I was also taking penicillin but my mom and sister are allergic so it could have been that.


The hives are getting over now (haven't smoked since thursday.) But i'm just wondering, am I allergic to weed? I sure as hell hope not since weed is great!

If you were allergic you would have had a reaction before now back when you first started.

Besides smoking is there anything else that is new in your diet, life or anything.

Also, been taking benadryl and prednisone. Could that affect weed?

Can you be allergic to Cannabis? I don't think that's possible is it?

lmao w33dman thats very common mental reaction and not an allergic reaction.

what id EXPECT to happen from smoking something you are TRULY allergic to is your throat close up, you stop breathing, and you die.

pretty easy.

It seems more likely that you had a reaction to one of the medications you were taking. Was it the first time you were taking any of those things?

Benadryl wouldn't so much cause reactions as it would be likely suppress allergic reactions themselves. Benadryl is what I take for hives, which I never know why I get. It's also what I took when I smoked weed, which gave me a runny, stuffy, itchy nose and puffy, itchy eyes.

To develop an allergy, you have to have had at least one previous exposure to an allergen so your immune system has a chance to develop a sensitivity to it. It's definitely possible to be allergic to weed. I had a friend in college who was so allergic to it that he had to stop smoking entirely. He got mouth swelling, itching in his ears and up his Eustachian tubes, and an itchy throat. People can have allergic reactions of all levels, and the ones where your throat closes up and you die are the most severe. That's called "anaphylaxis," and it's fairly uncommon after inhalation of an allergen. It's more common after ingestion (swallowing), skin contact, or an injection.

Hives, at least from what I've seen, seem a lot more likely to be the result of penicillin, something like a sensitivity to your laundry detergent or bath soap, or possibly even a response to seasonal airborne allergens like pollen. This is springtime, so it's high allergy season. Once you're off the pencillin, test it yourself. Try smoking again and see if you get the same reaction. Have some Benadryl on hand to take if you do. If you don't, then that's a fairly good indication that it wasn't the weed.

This is my thing. I'm the allergy "queen" because I'm allergic to nearly every variety of pollen that occurs in nature and about 12 medicines, too. In my years as a paramedic, we dealt with allergic reactions constantly.

would expect its possible to be allergic to cannabis and you could become allergic to it at anytime even if youve smoked for years you could one day develop an allergic reaction to it.

I knew a dude who was allergic to cannabis- if he smoked he got severe "hay fever" symptoms- frustrated him to no end, since he liked pot! Tman, it is more likely your detergent that is causing this. - Granny:hippy:

I had to take Amoxicillin, an offspring of penicillin, which resulted in an allergic reaction; hives all over my body.

Doubt you have anything to worry about.

maybe it's a contact allergy - sometimes i break out in hives if too much weed actually touches my skin. i'm ok smoking it though.

One of my friends is. Sucks to be him.

But if you were allergic, and you smoked 4-5 times per day for over a month, you most likely would know before now.

Was it a different strain than you were use to? Maybe you are sensative to CBD or CBN?
