i heard it was bad to bathe them...
is this true?
Thats a myth, some cats actually like to get baths. My big kitty luvs a good bath, just dont get any water in thier ears and they are fine. I might suggest starting them as kittens taking baths though, as it is difficult to get them agreeable to it after a year or so. :)

my cat got his first bath ever last august, had him for like 8 years. he fuckin loved it, and his fur was mad soft and he smelled mad good for like two weeks (all hail petco)
It is bad, because my sister use to bathe her cat and then every time I would take a shower the cat would rub against my legs getting cat hair all over me. Is it bad for the cat? The cat seemed fine, but yea, it can be annoying to have cat hair on you 30 seconds after you step out of the shower lol
dude dont clean your cat, it cleans itself beter than u do
well sometimes my kitten doesn't go to the box so neatly and ends up getting his own poo on him.
i mean... he stinks like shit... so its time for a bath i guess.
I don't know that it's necessarily bad or harmful to them to bathe them. It's simply that they're largely self-cleaning animals. But when they have long fur and make bathroom messes, I'm not sure that you have much choice. I've washed cats before, and it's not easy. (The two I've bathed had all their claws.) Just make sure you're using pet shampoo that's appropriate for cats. They have delicate skin that's very sensitive to chemicals, and they absorb a lot more through their skin than dogs or people do. We used to have a neighbor lady who had a long-haired Persian cat who sometimes made messes on himself when he went to the bathroom. She got these pet wipes at the pet store so she could simply clean his rear end area and let him take care of the rest. She also found that keeping his fur trimmed shorter back there was helpful. Also, if the cat is making poop-related messes, something may be wrong with what he's eating. When they're eating a proper diet, their stool ought to be compact and solid and come out cleanly. Make sure your cat is eating fairly high-quality pet food and not drinking cow's milk or cream, which can give them diarrhea.
I don't recall a cat dieing from a bath... if the cat stinks ,,,give it a bath,,,LOLz... do not use human products and stay away from anything that sez "Hertz" on the label... You might want to try taking a wet towel to it and wiping it down first to see how the cat responds to being wet... Some cats naturally know you are cleaning them and love the attention and others just freak...
Good luck...
Good point about the poo being solid BG... I give my cats a mix of wet and dry also it is urinary health food as Buddy almost died from an infection,,,poor thing could not pee and almost exploded... This is why we should be in tune with our pets,,,Buddy was going to the box instead of eating and I got suspisious,,,thank God...
:rastasmoke: I have bathed both my cats in the past and they seem fine, I am sure your kitty will be ok with having a bath, it sure as hell beats having poo stuck in the fur.
