Investigators told the New York Post that for the last two years the operation trucked some 1,000 pounds of the marijuana from South Florida to New York each week.

Police said that because of its potency, the drug sells for about $560 an ounce -- making each 1,000-pound shipment worth nearly $9 million. It is grown in hothouses in South Florida and its flower buds have small purple stains in them, as well as much higher than usual amounts of THC, the chemical that gives smokers a high, the Post said.

The ring operated mostly in upper Manhattan where distributors and users from as far away as Connecticut and Long Island converged to buy the super pot, police told the newspaper.

Sounds like the basic police bullshit story, like when they bust a grow operation and say the plants were worth 50 million dollars, cause I sure as hell haven't came across any $560 ounces around here!

hehe a lot of people say they sell "purple haze" in NY, I know a guy that does 2.5g for 50, kind of funny though I guess it is just someone higher up that is calling it purple haze because for the most part this guy sells all name brand shit

lot of grow operations in Florida ran by people up here it seems. Some months back they busted a small group of local (Hudson County nj) businessmen that had some crazy grow op going on. They were offering people in Hudson county a free place to live down in Florida for a period of time. Only catch was they had to take care of some house guests.. A house full of pot plants!
