Sleepless nights
Sup y'all. It's 3:39am and i'm wide, wide awake.
I havn't slept for the past 2 nights. I feel almost hungover during the day i'm so tired, then when evening comes i'm buzzing with energy.
I've spent the last few nights staying up late finishing some university work, the rest of the time i've had a few late nights after some major blaze-ups with my hall mates. Weed used to help me sleep like a fat cat but now it doesn't do jack, it feels like i'm getting insomnia or something.
I recently moved away from home and have been working hard for my music degree so i'm expecting to feel a little different than usual, but this is pissing me off, especially with my girlfriend KO'ed behind me. I've tried strong sleeping medication and it does absolutely shite all.
Anyone got any advice? The first to say 'smoke a spliff' gets a bottle to the face.

Have you considered heroin? just kidding, I don't know what to tell ya man, melatonin? Go see a doctor?

I know it prolly sounds really retarded, but have you considered getting some really really good ass? Other than drinking myself into oblivion, I've never got as good a nights sleep than when I've had a night of mind-blowing sex. Just a suggestion before you tried anything really drastic.

Yeah, tried that   ! Curse this insomnia. Drat and double drat!!!

oh well then I dunno then. If weed and sex don't do it, then you'll need to go pro and go to a sleep therapist :stoned:

Have you had insomnia before, B.Basher? Also, are you drinking a whole lot of caffeine during the day or taking any meds that might be contributing to the problem? Ever tried meditation or hypnosis techniques to try and relax and go to sleep?

Do you exercise before you go to sleep? Do you study in your bedroom? Do you eat before sleeping? Do you think about what you're going to do the next day before bed? Do you watch TV in bed?
My doctor says not to do any of the above (plus stop drinking anything with caffeine by noon) because I have a problem sleeping at night also. He also suggested I drink warm milk. I don't know..I haven't tried that yet.

I drink about 3 mugs of tea and at least 1 can of coke a day (sometimes up to 3-4). I barely do any exercise and spend a lot of time in my tiny dorm room making music on my PC (it's a 19'' screen and I sit real close to it).
When I don't have lectures I usually sleep in until about 2pm. I also don't have a regular eating pattern and usually only manage 1 meal a day. I also havn't touched a vegetable in about a month and a half. Also I smoke about 3 joints most nights. I used to go to meditation but stopped about a month ago as my workload got heavier.
I know that these all probably contribute to the problem, but i've been doing all these things everyday for the past year and it's only just started up in the last fortnight. I can usually kick myself out of a bad sleep regime but this time it feels like I just don't get tired until the sun comes up.
And it's now 5:00am. I feel like I could scale a building

Yeah, you're doing it to yourself. Your "circadian rhythms" are messed up, it sounds like (look that up if you don't know the term). You've gotta get back into a better routine. Try laying off the caffeine, eating more regularly, and getting to bed at a more regular time and not sleeping so late. If you have to stay up all night and day for a couple of days till you're so dead tired you can barely stay awake, do that. Then once you can get to bed at a more decent nighttime hour and get some real sleep, you should be able to get yourself straightened out. Some people find that a supplement called melatonin helps with insomnia/circadian problems, but I don't know to use that supplement for that purpose. You could probably find out yourself on Google if you are interested enough to do so.

Well like I said, i've been living like a mess for the past year and have been just fine. It's just caught up with me I guess. Gonna look up this melatonin too.
"If you have to stay up all night and day for a couple of days till you're so dead tired you can barely stay awake, do that."
Sounds like a plan, although it might be 3-4 days ¬.¬ .
Thanks for the advice. Meanwhile, my girlfriend sleeps soundly  !! her snores almost sound like insults at this point.
