floating sprouted seeds??
whats up everyone i'm just starting my first grow and i'm germinating my seeds by putting them in a glass of water and letting them sink and crack.....well no seeds have sank in 48 hours yet but one has cracked and i have my taproot at about 1/8 of an inch......should this still be floating?? should I just go ahead and plant it?? sorry if this is a dumb question thats been asked before but i just need to know i want to start it
floating sprouted seeds??
go ahead and plan it tap root down, when they crack they sink usually.
floating sprouted seeds??
well could it be that the reason it didn't crack is because the root came out of the side?? does this mean i'm probably gonna have to peel the shell off at some point in the next couple weeks??
floating sprouted seeds??
no man you wont have to do anything once you plant it just wait for it......
floating sprouted seeds??
yeah the seed husk will fall off on its own, removing it could be disasterous.
floating sprouted seeds??
oh, i have heard before that sometimes the shell will stick to the plant sometimes after its sprouted from the soil.......what do i know though...........thats why i'm here..........to learn
floating sprouted seeds??
the seedling will expand and bust out of the shell on its own
I always just try to crush seeds between my finger and a table to test viability
the ones that are hard are usually good
you can usually just take them and plant them right into wet soil to germinate so you dont risk killing them by handling the taproot
floating sprouted seeds??
well another question now.......is it going to be OK to use aquafina drinking water for my soil for right now until i can get some RO water tomorrow?? will this harm the seedling?? i don't want to use my tap water because the ground water around here is bad........i don't even want to drink it let alone give it to my plants
floating sprouted seeds??
Never float seeds for more than 24 hours..

drowning seeds is SAD

floating sprouted seeds??
what if they are still floating??? is there a chance they've drowned already?? i've read posts of people keeping them in water for up to 72 hours or untill they've all sprouted..........if so will there be any sign that they've gone bad.....change in color or something??
