where's the lowryder experts at??
Whats up everyone..........i got some questions for you lowryder experts here, i would have posted this on highbred.net but unfortunately it wouldn't let me register. Ok, i'm trying to setup a grow in my closet, i have about 2' wide x 3' long x however tall i want it. I went out and bought some mylar and light proofing materials so i got those bases covered. I'm going to be doing a soil grow and i want to make sure i get the stuff the plant needs to maximize yields assuming i do everything right and don't stunt its growth. I'd like to have between 6-10 (8 is what i would llike to have) growing at a time, is this feasable considering the room I have because i do not know the recommended size pots for LR, or light requirements.
This is the light i'm looking at here, would this work, its a 250W HPS?? I was thinking about a 400W but i don't want heat being a problem.......if a fan or 2 would work that would be great.......any recommendations? also what type of soil should i buy and some good nute's. remember i'm a noobie at growing so go easy on me. :rasta:

The 250 HPS will be ok, but I'd say get a 400 watter.
This will maximise yeild.
I dont think you'll be able to get more than 4 plants in your space comfortably.
They need at least 2 gallon pots each.
And also, make sure its not too hot in there.
AND, if you get droopy leaves, dont worry too much, me and swizzy also got droopy leaves and think it may be the ruderalis, but dont actually know. All we do know it is clears up after 1 or 2 days.

I wouldnt' think 250w would be enough to grow eight plants, even Lowryder. You would be better off getting a lighting system off ebay etc. rather than an agricultural website.
I dont think you could grow that many in that size room, what with the room for the pot (the root system even for a stout plant I suppose is big).
Do you have air inlets/outlets? Do you have a filter? A fan blowing on the plants lowers the temp and helps the stems develop. Although moving air also lowers lumens :(

thanks for the reply's, info is appreciated. only reason i want to go w/a 250w is my energy bill and heat issues, but i don't know if heat is going to be an issue anymore. the way my room is setup is i built a frame and its 5ft tall after that its open to the rest of the closet, i have 3-4ft of space above to let the hot air get out of there, and i will have a fan pushing "new" air into the bottom, i will have to take a picture and show you my setup.
and lip, what should i buy as far as soil goes? how about nutes? and last of all where should i get my seeds, i was thinking about drchron...... would you recommend where you got yours from?
blaze on

Well, any good potting soil, not miricale grow though, none with any ferts in.
Make sure you put in alot of perlite, because the roots need to be able to establish themselves without stress and this can stunt plant growth, and it only vegges for 3 weeks, and then flowers no matter what.
After 3 weeks, when you know the sex of each plant, get some superthrive, or any good bloom nutes and give them a very weak solution.
drchronics a good choise, but you can get them from most seed banks now, just go with the one you are comfortable with.
I got mine free from a good friend.

well i went out and got some pots and their about 1 3/4 gallons. i can fit 6 of them into my grow area no problem...........how much of a loss would i be looking at w/a 250 opposed to a 400 in a room thats 2x2.5?? sorry to bother with the questions.............i'm puting money into this so i want it to work

It'll work, would just work better with more light though.
