Just wondering if you guys think this will work-
I'm going to be growing this summer outside. the tempuratures in the summer here range from 60-90f and we have nearly 24 hours of daylight for 3 months. I will be transplanting the plant outside after 2 weeks and it will be growing in potting soil and chicken manure (high in nitrates). I'm pretty sure this will work while the tempurature stays nice (it is *always* sunny hear in the summer) and my biggest concern is soil tempuratures. The area i've chosen has year round permafrost below the top soil. Will this kill my plant, and is 3- 3.5 months enough for my plant to fully mature?

yes
pick a fast flowering strain
plant in a pot,not the ground(permafrost)
Your going to have to change the lighting to make it flower
they need 12 hours darkness to flower. you can do this by putting it in a dark closet every night and bring it out everyday for 12 hours.

3 months of pure sunlight kind of tells me that you'll have a 3 month vegitation cycle, I would imagine that when you get to having some dark days the temps drop off pretty severe....does it drop below freezing or will you have up to 2 -3 months before it does?
You may just want to consider staying indoors...hell, Alaska is our most reasonable state concerning growing in your house....take advantage of it!
Good luck on the grow!

thanks, at the end of the 3 months of sunlight we usually get down into the 50-60s for about another month after that

I know this is a bit of a random question, but how often can you see the Northern Lights up there?

See it every once in a while.
nother question- When will my plants flower? At the peak of the summer i'll have 20 hours of light, will my plants start flowering when i get down to ~15 hours?

I dont think so theres a reason that Cannabis sativa, and indica dont live up there or in cold climates! the only cannabis plant that could grow up there out doors is Cannabis ruderalis* and these are hard to grow junk plants with little thc(like male plants)! i think that you just need to accept the fact that if your going to grow it needs to be indoors!
*the information i just used came from the Cannabis Grow Bible!

Why dont you gorw an autoflowering strain? They have some Ruderalis genetics which causes them to autoflower but also can have high thc content due to other genetics.
