Does starting seeds in water really work? Or is there a better growth rate from seeds that are started directly in soil under floro's? Just a quick question if anyone knows.
Thanks

You can soak your seeds in water for about 24 hours (imbibing) before you plant them without germinating them first; But you can't just grow them in water
Sorry,
That didn't really answer your question did it?
I'm pretty sure that light doesn't assists in the germination of the vast majority of plants; Cannabis included; So you really don't need any light untill the root has sprouted and the primary leaves can expose themselves to light
Germinating under light can cause your soil and seed to dry out and quickly die.
Like Bro said, you can first dunk it in water for 24hr. This method is especially usefull with older seeds.
but hold up..
whats the guarantee the seed will start after submerging it for 24hrs?? i've had a few seeds that did that... the 11 that I submerged and put in soil, none of them popped up...
aha.......the twist......
thanks for your reply's

I put mine in the water in a dark closet until they cracked open.It took about
3 days and 2 out of 3 grew and are growing fine.
I PUT MINE IN THE MIDDLE OF 3 SHEETS OF PAPER TOWELS, KEPT MOIST. I PLACE EM UNDER A CAKE PLATE WITH A TOP. MY BLUEBERRYS POPPED IN 17 HOURS. MOST OF EM POP WITH-IN 36 HOURS. GOOD LUCK
Just to clear up what Bro said. You should apply light as soon as they show themselves above the medium. Otherwise they will stretch looking for light as they begin to open up. This will result in a plant that is more susceptible to stem break due to wind or rough handling.
i started my white rhino seed in a jar with cotton wool dampened with warm water then placed it in the dark (on top of my home made reflector under a little box) the warmth of the lamp helped and on the 6th day the seed was ready to pot (which was today :D ) when i placed the seed in the jar i placed it at the side to keep an eye on the sprouting without picking and disturbing it everyday i will attach some pics to this for all to see any advice on the next stage of growing will be much apreciated :rasta:
