root Q
hi all,
i had to repot the other week as the roots were out the bottom by 8 inches ,so i put them in higher pots an still the rooots are outta the bottom
(only a bit for now ) , the thing is , i have the pots standing in a tray ,i keep this tray pretty dry , its just for run off water ..am i doing sumthin wrong , ?
should i have the overflow tray always with water in >?

root Q
No you should not have the roots standing in water keep on keeping the bottom saucer dry. It's fine if the roots come out the bottom holes don't worry about that.

Roots can not stand in water they drown from lack of oxygen. They will stay moist enough in the tray with the pot on top. Also not every inch of the root needs to stay wet. The portion which remains in the pot will stay wet enough to support the part that comes out of the pot if that makes sense.

Hey Joker...
Get a tray or some resivoir that your pot can sit in and fill it with perlite or hydroton rocks... the roots will grow in this medium... and you wont have to worry to much about them drowing or drying... . .... you could even get a slab of rock wool and set your pot on that... the roots will dig right IN
sitting directly in STILL water is not good... dry is not good either... but if there is some water at the bottom.. let say 1 inch or 2 inches.. and you have perlite... the roots will be fine

those pots are way to small for your plants I get this by looking at how thick your stem is.How old are your plants and how many gallons is that pot it looks like a one gallon and thats way to small

i think its 1.75 liters to a gallon (not 100% on that) but its around that , so im alrdy into at least 5 gallon pots ,,next grow im gunna look an see how big the 10 gallon pots are ...only 22 days left approx on the NLBB so hopefully it wont be too much of a problem .
