Grow Box Build for Hindu Kush

ive just bought this little old hi-fi unit from a junk shop by me for £7. i looked everywhere for something new...but nothing fitted my needs...i was just passing the junk shop and noticed this....it needs a damn good clean n stuff
but it suits my needs perfect.

So over the next week or so, i'll be converting this into a veging chamber. its dimensions on the inside are Depth 15.5 inches, Width 15 inches Height 19 inches. it has a shelf inside so i will be able to take the plants upto the light rather than the other way round

My intention is to use it for 1 mother plant and rooting clones

im using a 200w fluro grow light. the ballast gives off shit loads of heat, so im using 3 inch computer fans running off 12volts. i bought 2 fans at £3.99 each. The 12 volt adapters cost £5 each

one fan will get placed directly above the ballast to expell the heat, the other fan will be inside to circulate air. I'm using passive air intake

anyway, to get the PC fans to run off mains electric....this is what u do.....like anything...its easy when u know what ur doing

Equipment you Need

1 PC fan (any size u want so long as its 12volts or under)
2 12v mains adapter
3 scissors
4 Electrical tape

Step 1

first get the pc cooling fan. 2 wires will lead from the fan (usually red and black)to a connection box with 4 wires. Simply cut this off and trim back the plastic till the wires are exposed

do exactly the same with the 12 volt adaptor. the end of the adaptor should have a multi plug in thing on the end....just cut the little fucka off

Step 2

now u gotta join both these wires together....this is no different from making the power cable to ur tv longer

connect the black lead to the corresponding black lead on the adapter, same with the red one. (although the "red" lead is black + white on this adapter)

then use the electrical tape to cover up the expose wires and then more tape to cover that tape

Step 3

plug it in and turn it on

i always leave 1 foot off the floor just in case :eek: shocking stuff

over the next couple of days i gotta get an emergncy blanket to reflect the light, and a saw of somekind to cut holes in the cab for the fans and passive air intake, plus some plywood to cover the front bit

Can you get us a picture of your light, please?
and instead of taking up room and addiing additonal
insulation for the heat factor with the blanket.
Why don'y you paint your interior walls of the
mini-cab a flat white, imo.

thanks for the input. i hadnt thought about the blanket taking up that precious space. I might use mylar rather than painting white, simply cos it reflects more light

heres a pic of the grow light. its 14 inches long, 200w giving off 64,000 lumens

a normal 100w light bulb gives off about 1,300 lumens

ive got a 400w hps for flowering, but i still gotta build a flowering chamber
