Flushing your plants

ive been in a debate over flushing your plants before you harvest them. i dont want to start a debate here, but i would like your opinion on the matter.

simply put, i believe in flushing your plants at the end of harvest. i think its beneficial for you health-wise and taste-wise. i dont want to smoke chemicals, and i wouldnt think anyone would. but, i am being told that flushing is totaly not needed and it does not remove chems from your bud. basicaly, i was told flushing is a waste of time.

if it is a waste of time, can anyone explain why?

I have heard the same thing, and I still have a problem with the concept. They have a FAQ on it at OverGrow, but I still dont buy it. I dont think it's a waste of time at all.

I to believe in flushing. Whoever says it's a waste of time has obviously never smoked unflushed grass. Especially herb grown with chemicals, that stuff NEEDS to be flushed. I think it's a different story though with organic ferts. That in my opinion, doesn't NEED to be flushed, but still should be. Have you ever smoked unflushed grass? All those chemiclas that have been building up since veg, through flower, then you smoke it? Nasty! The bud crackles, taste like shit, smells like shit. Ya, it needs to be flushed. During the last week or so of growing the plant, it probably doesn't even use anymore of the chemicals stored in the dirt and plant.

are yall washing the plant off too?

plain ol water flushed and plain water for 2 weeks prior is great, but the chems are still in the plant, all in the buds.

then if the chems stay in the bud, what the point of flushing?

I find comericals flushers do a very good job at removing the excess nutrients.

Cut back on (N) the last 10 - 14 day's before flush to use up cloruphyll amd make stronger thc. Thats the 'method' ive always used, seeing as how (N) is the main chemical that distorts the buds taste.

Nitrogen is one of the few chemicals that can be moved within the plant.

That is, if it is not in the soil, it will be drawn from other leaves.

Calcium for example, cannot be retrieved from other places present in the plant.

Ergo, flushing and will remove nutrients the plant still needs even, and, specially in the final week(s).

Like Zandor says, it is the nitrogen you want to remove more than anything else.

Non feeding of nitro is what I have done. I do not intend to flush...

has any1 tried flushin with diff things/?ie
coke cola?strawberry extract?
whatever? i read a few peop had done it nd thinkin bout it u could add whatever flav ulike, strawberry hmmmmmmm.......
