Zandor, are you out there
You can clone at 3 weeks it may take a little longer and your success rate may not be as high but its better then letting a good female get away. You don't need to pinch the flowers off if there are any. Make sure you use anti-wilt to keep them from drying out. One thing about cloning with flowers is if you use a humidity dome you run a big risk or mold or rot on the flowers from too much moisture. Anti-wilt spray eliminates the need for the humidity dome and will save you temperature and humidity problems. Donâ??t forget about using a good rooting gel or powder. Only use Ph adjusted RO water and keep the root zone warm (not the water. Water should be room temperature. Warm water may cook the roots) How are going to root your clones?
Good luck
I put 2 (OK, I know you hate rockwool)...let's see if I get this right...cut-off with exacto knife @ 45%...Put in warm water...dipped in Schultz takeroot(wally's)I took 1/4 RW cube wrapped it around the stem/in a container 6"x6"x12"water in bottom then set 5" netpot on top of hydroton/RO'd water ph'd...a drop of liquid karma/ or I have superthrive...up to the top of the hydroton/bottom of RW/filled in hydroton around shaft...added a pint cup of water with 2 wallys .88 stones and called for you! I have a
loose clear top over the whole thing...not airtight...look forward to hearing back from you and thanks for your attention...latewood
Hmm thats odd, I cloned my 2 others before 3 weeks but the turnout varied into 2 dead clones =[. Thats the result of cloning before 3 weeks though, I learned that the hardway but w/e.
Warm water? Thatâ??s good if you want to eat your plants or make tea. First you really just take the cutting then you cut the angle when the clone is away from the plant. Make sure you soak the Rockwool the day before in Ph 5.2 water for a full 24 hours before you use it. That may help stabilize the Ph of the Rockwool. (that what the makes sayâ??s, lol)
You should root the clone before you try to use grow rocks. What about anit-wilt? Or are you going to use a humidity dome? What light are you using again for cloning?
Zander...OK, I read that warm water was a bad idea before I cut them, so thanks, 2nd I have had no problem with my rockwool, and yes I presoak it...I haven,t been able to get anti-wilt, went wally's tonight, going to home depot or a local hydro store(1 hour away tomorrow. At Wally's I did find a small mister setup even though I home depot has some great aqua products now...I am planning on doing something similar to your
cloner...Ironically the pool noodles were right next to where I was looking for anti-wilt
so I may redesign...I was going to set 4-5 cuttings in each 5" netpot with just enough rock around the cubes for everything to stand up in a bubbler with the water right up to the medium...
by the way did you make your little plugs or buy them? got some more things to ask you, keep coming back...Peace back to ya...latewood
Nope I make just about everything. I found a source for the waterproof rubber foam stuff (I can't remember what it's called at the moment). HD sells a product for like 5 bucks (I have not tried it yet) I can't remember the name either but it's with the B-1 and other food products for Orchids and specialty plants. It's marketed as a spray for indoor plants to keep them clean from dust and shiny. I did spray some on my arm and it felt about the same as the anit-wilt spray. It's just a food grade wax spray and that's all the anti-wilt is.
If you can't fine a source email me at........imzandor at yahoo.com......
(the cool one at pot.com is still not working)
I have some on the shelf, as well as misters, sprinklers and some other parts that are hard to find.
I saw it ten times today and I could not remember the specifics you mentioned in a thread I read days ago about this topic...it was probably your cloning 101 type thread.
I am going to email you about your shelf...You did not mention what you thought of my explanation for using the rocks and do you think the swimming pool noodles will work in place of the soft rubber you use...boy, I sure could of used this info at hd, lo's.truvaland wall's...I believe they all had that spray...I'm sure I held it in my hand and dusted it off...oh well...come on, Peace ...latewood
