We wish Betty the best in her future endeavors consulting and working with the Medical Marijuana Assistance Program of the Rockies.
once the proposed caregiver rules go into effect, MMCs are going to lose their biggest allies - caregivers. I'm ready to throw in the towel. My wife and I can grow just for ourselves as patients. All of my patients want to learn to grow if this is the way it goes.
We're going to have no interest in any regs except the Constitution and I see every reason in the world to NOT renew my card - way too much is at stake with confidentiality. I have several pre-existing Dr's recs and extensive medical documentation, as does my wife. I used to check dispensaries out and got some clones and sampled strains - spent some serious money!
I have not visited one in months due to proposed regs. Strain variety is going to be a thing of the past, which makes my need for outside clones and seeds drop to about zero.
My political blowharding seems like a waste of time compared to helping patients help themselves. It all seems much more clear to me now that I am sure making money off MMJ isn't something I'm even interested in. I'm interested in good meds and the people I love, and the few patients I retained after the last round of rules are people I deeply care about. I may not wipe their asses or shop for them, and I may not even grow for them soon, but the same number of plants are gonna be growing. Just spread out in different homes.
The MMCs need us - some realize it and many don't. The fight with the DOH is over as far as I can tell, except for the decision and we know they do not come out on the side of patients, no matter what this BS process has been. Nothing stops them except a judge.
I hope CTI and Kathleen Chippi keep at it for the patients. I'm glad CTI took their reputation seriously by distancing themselves from you. know. who.
MMCs are next - you wait! They will regulate you right out of business, right after they are finished with us.
Wiping a sick person's ass is something that anyone who has been a real caregiver has probably done. :)
ass wiping is absolutely an important service! my patients aren't in need of that, and there are people who could provide better care than me.
BUT
there are physical therapists who help people recover from injury with exercise and training, and there are home nurses / hospice providers that are especially suited for end of life or long term care. Massage therapists who help retrain muscles, chiropractors and osteopaths who help with alignment, nutritionists who deal with diet...
Why does a cannabis practitioner need to do more than cannabis? it's complete bullshit. Let caregivers do what tehy do best, and NOT try to half ass something else to be legal. THAT, is bad for sick people, and that is exactly what will happen.
there are many different kinds of caregiving and the state should leave these private, constitutionally protected relationships alone.
Caregivers are unpaid relatives or friends of a disabled person who help with their daily life. It isn't a business. There is no profit, only investment. You cannot make money, only lose it. It's about love. I don't know how anyone (anyone with a sense of shame, at least) can claim to be a caregiver when what they really do is sell marijuana for profit. No voter, in their wildest dreams, ever imagined a caregiver shopping around for patients, selling marijuana, or wholesaling patients' medicine to retailers.
And, FYI, I'm pretty sure the "Cannabis Practitioner" classes at CTI got canceled when the instructor was indicted.... so you might have to wait until they find another charlatan if that's a professional certification you are seeking.
