Are clubs really not for Profit?
Can anyone do math? Most clubs pay $2000 for a pound, they sell 8th's for $60 hmmmm lets see. $2000 for a pound makes 128 8th's. 128 X 16=$7680.00. 7680-2000=$5680 per pound and how many pounds can a decent club sell? Want to get rich open a club. Don't forget those $25.00 clones....I agree with another poster...$30.00 an 8th is a much fairer price.

I used the # 30 as a compassionate price which was in line with our spirit of the law....
Most cannabis at 2000 a lb. is shit medicine from left over cali. crap....sorry but, it is the truth...most cali. crap I can't engage in because it is just garbage to me...it offers me side effects that locals don't.
Most of nec420 purchase price would not be in the 2000 range....none of the club members I know of whom are local would even be involved in such dishonesty....meaning that they would not just unload garbage for patients to consume....
Please don't use my suggestion in your arguments please. Thank you.

It all depends on who is doing the book keeping ;):D:thumbsup:

First you have to understand what a nonprofit company is in America. Its really absolutely meaningless to call a company nonprofit. They're still entitled to make just as much money as they want. The only requirement is they donate something to the cayse they are representing. That can mean anything.
So yes if you file the paperwork, dispensaries are just as much a nonprofit ia as the American Cancer Society or any of the other thousands of nonprofits are.

non profit (not getting into 501C) just means that the purpose of forming the business was not primarily to make profit, but for some other venture. In the case of dispensaries I would imagine it to be something along the lines of, "...is formed for the purpose of providing safe access to mmj IAW 69.51A and all Washington State laws...etc..."
Just because their donation price is set above their purchase price doesn't mean that the difference is kept as profit. Non profits use that margin to cover their business expenses, pay employees, and accomplish the objective for which they were formed.
No one sells good indoor organic meds for $2,000 a pound in WA. Its closer to 2X that number or more for the best. If you tried to charge $30 an 1/8 for that you would lose money.

just like killa said. non-profit does not mean you can't make a living.

You seem to be well up on going price and good at math. Don't let your timidity stop you from becoming filthy rich. Open your own club. Set a donation of $50 for an 8th of very high quality organic meds, or $25 for commercially farmed but still high quality buds and I am sure you'll be stealing patients left and right, making you a millionaire in no time! Let me know when you open and where you rented space for your club.

Anyone who thinks they will get rich doing what we do, and provide proper meds and a decent atmosphere for patients, will quickly wish they had opened a 7-11.
Spend five minutes in a retail business class - or take a tour of our club - and you will be simply astounded at how quickly expenses add up. It's mind-boggling.
It's not a gateway to riches if you serve patients. It only works that way if you serve yourself.
By the way, only California and Canadian outdoor is in that $2000 price range. Local, high-quality, organic meds are at least 50% more - minimum. It's easy to pay over $1000 for a 1/4 pound of the finest buds. We do it all the time. And we get meds from patients - not dealers. They don't have 25 pounds to get rid of. They don't even have 25 ounces. They have four or five ounces - and they usually need money. So, we take care of our patients - on both ends of the equation.
When it's grown with skill and care, a few ounces of meds has more healing value than any bail of hay you can ever haul up from out of state. Anyone who argues that has either never had good meds or they sell California schwag for a living.

Interesting to hear of the pricing. Back in the 80-90's street price for a quarter was $40. It was not as good as today's meds, not even close.
As I have said in earlier posts, the Club has changed my mind and I feel they are indeed for the patient. Mind you I am not a member, too far away, but I am in contact with members and what I hear is good for the patient.
Even if they did 'get rich' off of it, well what the hell, someone has to do it. If you aren't growing you own, you risk a great deal, and Club420 in my opinion has helped without regard for their personal risks.
Let's quit bitching at them, if you don't have something positive to say, then just let it go. We all have a common cause. Let us not forget that.

If I was a dispensary I would make some donations to local charities, maybe to local nonproft organizations that are fighting the bigotted cannabis and hemp laws. Or better yet the local LEAP foundation. With any luck you could get a subpeona and get there representative into the courtroom to be able to get there viewpoint out there.
