Advantages to banannas

It just so totally sucks to get banannas and hermies and intersexuals....especially when the pollenate some of the harem. Life can be discouraging at times.

But, if you look to a different aspect, that of the opportunity to experiment with something new, a person can have a neat time..(do I show my age with 'neat' better yet groovy? LOL)

So that damn BC seeds scammed me but I got a lot of pollen for deliberate crosses. In turn this was used to pollenate one branch of every different female I had at the time in the flower room. Currently the first 2 are started. Interesting they are not doing the stretchy that most new sprouts do, which to me usually indicates a very strong F1.

Some of these are real winners. I have one that is one of my favorites, mother is (I was told by the person that gave me the clone) an original White Widow. Great whore, had her for 7 years now. Anyhow, my species Washougal Wonder was a little unstable and it pollenated the Widow. That F1 is short and squat (both parents were sativa like), produces twice as much as it's mother, tastes better, high equivalent or better. The only problem with it is that it is terribly difficult to get clones to take!:wtf:

So some of these crosses can be real winners, I would say it averages 25% of them come out as equivalent or better than the parents.

Naming these seems to be the most difficult part. So far I just have been using the first letters of the parents to track not only who the parents are, but as a name. RMT just doesn't sound like kick your ass, want to screw all night weed, but it certainly is. LOL Then again Frick Yer Brains sounds kinda Effed up too...LOL I am wasted... I shouldn't be jabbering.

I have a few strains that tend to pop late flowering nanners. If you look at some of my threads you can find some pictures of this very special purple strain that tends to hermaphrodite on me in the last weeks of flower. Now this doesnt ALWAYS happen, just when I stress her at the end of flower(sometimes I stress ripen by placing plants in complete darkness)

Since you are a fellow washingtonian and medical marijuana patient, i was wondering if somehow I could donate some of the pollen to you. At some point I may have to stop growing and I would hate to lose something I have cherished for a long time. If you used the pollen I have a strong feeling that it would bring a strong Purple influence.

You can do whatever you want with it and claim it as your own, I just want to genetics to live on.

Appreciate the offer. Under most circumstances I would. Now, I have several, crosses I am working on and have no extra room/plant count.

yea i have the same problem. I have 5 different clone strains that Im trying to seed out. I just simply dont have enough room for every kind.

Im going to do a big breeding project with the next grow to make some crosses out of my strains.

How do you store pollen? Ive searched for a couple of methods online but im not really finding a soilid answer

I believe you can store it in a zip lock baggie in the fridge for up to 2 months and it still be potent.

I just store it in little closed containers in darkness.

I think pollen can be viable for thousands of years as it is more like a 'key' that completes a circuit. I have no fact to back me up...all theory on my part ...related to my years of life knowledge, not sure where the F I learned that.

Sorry to tell you but pollen is only good for about 2 weeks. A little longer in the fridge but no more.

The reason for this is pollen from many years or hundreds of years would be pollenating now if it could.

The need for males would almost stop. We are obsolite boys. LOL

Carefully pick nanners of male flowers and place them on a ziplock bag and place in the fridge veggie drawer. That's it. Oh , use them as soon as you can. See males come out about 2 weeks before females are in full bloom.

I have been getting a few nanners on the strains I have and I love to get a few femm seed each time. I stressed some out that had cynaobacteria with physan20 and ended up with a shitload femm seed.

Their genetics are crap. Out of 12 new white widow seeds I got one female that did not herme, it barely had trichomes, nothing like any of the other stuff I grow, worse than bag seed. Other species of theirs I tried all went hermaphroditic.

Just junk. All farce.

Hmm...That sucks. All but one hermied...? Any changes to the growroom, nutrients or enviornment? No light leaks or interrupted night cycles?

Am in hopes you're wrong about the BC Seeds being junk. I just started some of their Jedi (J41) and some of the Kali Skunk. For their customers sake, I hope it's an isolated incident. For your sake, I hope they at least sent replacements and a kiss-ass appology. (for their prices, the seeds should jump into the soil, water themselves, and have a red pop-up timer thing when ready for harvest)

I wouldn't risk backing this upcoming statement with my life or reputation, but I seem to get a larger percentage of females during the summer growing cycles, than my winter grows. Maybe it's a temperature during development thing, (seems to work for crocodiles and turtles) or it could be a catching-up to the law of averages thing. IDK.
I've often thought about this...but in the wild, the female flower has to be mature enough to be properly pollinated, so an early male plant might miss his opportunity if too early. In other words...are the males waiting for later in the season to sprout and mature? (is this why some seeds don't pop when the others do?) That would imply pre-determined sex while still in the embryo though. This theory flies in the face of my previous statement, but I thought I'd throw this out there and see if any others have valid insight, either way.
