Yellowing / lime green colour

Hi All,

new to this so need some help;

-2nd grow
-indoor growbox
-Afghanica from flying dutchmen
-400w MH aircooled
-hyrdo system
-water changed weekly(6.1ph)
-Dutch nutrient Formula during weekly water changes but add water as need thorought the week without nutrients.
-Temp 84F during light, 65f during night
-humidity 25-30% both at light and night
-currently in 4 week of veg (20 on, 4 off)

I am starting to get some Yellowing or lime green leaves? Middle of the leaves are darker but the edges are going lime green. I started with half the recomended nutrients(2.5ml per 1L) and in the last 2 week gone up to 5ml per 1L.

Should I back down on the nutrients?

any feed back will be appriciated.

Isn't 6.1ph a tad high for hydro? Looks more like a deficiency than over-fert to me... But I'm just a soil guy :) While waiting for the hydro guys to check in, you could fill in the trouble-shooting form at the top of the section and paste it hear, saves time asking some important detail(s) you may have left out... (water source, for example).

added every weekly change, when water is added during the week I dont use any nuts just PH corrected tap water

hope this helps

i see a few problems. when you top off your water level, dont adjust ph and then put it in your bucket because high chances are that your ph in your dwc is off and also needs adjusting. you should top off water then adjust ph in your dwc accordingly. also 85 degrees seems a bit tad high temps, this can cause high res. water temps. another thing is STOP folier feeding with just ph water alone!! if you keep doing that your going to flush out nutes out of the leaves. also if you do folier feed only do it once in a while and not often. you would be just fine if you didnt folier feed altogether.

Cig, thank you for your reply; I never even thought about checking the PH of the bucket. Simply thought it would be the same as when I corrected it the first time. It was down to 4.6 - 4.7PH. I added some water to bring it back up to 6.1PH. time will tell.

I've had the same happen to me. For me it was a heat issue but a PH below 5.5 is bad regardless. I have to adjust PH every day in my tub for a few days after topping off till things level off then it's fine. I've had strains that won't take heat AT ALL. What your getting is a shock to the flux between your light temp and dark temp, a 20 degree swing is for sure going to make your plant look sick. 85 might be too high, try to get down to 75 - 80...add a cheap fan for the light.

As Bigtops said, 6.1 is still a tad high for hydro, shoot for 5.8 ish.

You also filled out the soil grow troubleshooting form, which does not include questions about the ppm of your res water. so what's your ppm? It looks like it might be a little low for this size plant, but that could also be because of lockout from the 4.6 ph that apparently went unnoticed for a while.

It looks very healthy though, just slightly under fertilized. good luck. :jointsmile:

A good ph threshhold for vegitating plants is around 5.8 - 6.2.... When flowering ph should be around 5.3. Don't add anymore nutes. It's a common mistake to add more nutes when your ph is off.

So ive added a small fan to the mix and the temp sits at 77f with lights on and 65f with lights off. This is much better.

I am still having trouble with the PH of my Hydro.

After finding out the PH was to low(4.5) due to topping up the bucket with PH corrected water during the week; I added tap water to bring the ph back to up to 6.0. this was a little higher than I wanted but with a full water change a day away i let it go. On Saturday I changed out the water, I have 2 buckets so I mixed up water, Nutriants, and corrected to 5.8PH. I let it sit for a few hours to get to room temperature and switched the buckets(PH stil 5.8). Today I go an check the PH and its up at 6.8 ?!??

how did it get so high in one day? am I missing something?

Also, I dont have an EC tester to find out the PPM of my rez. It will be my next investment.
