Should the person who breaks a waterpipe be required to pay?
Okay basically my friend and I went in on a phx beaker bong for $300. My dumbass managed to break it, and my friend demands his $150 from the half of it. Now I don't know about you people but I have never once been compensated for a broken bong, but at the same time it only seems fair. Personally I think dude should fuck off because this was never in any written form and was only a verbal agreement. What do you guys think? I'm poor as anything also lol

sorry for the multiple threads, internet problems. yeah I completely agree, it's just I think the only reason he's being such a zealot about it is because it's money going into his pocket. What I want to know is if he broke it if he'd actually honor it(which i'm pretty sure he wouldn't), that's why I DON'T want to pay. It's kinda like, well shit, we both lost some on that one. Why shouldn't it be a mutually shared loss? Why should it be "hey you owe me."

You broke it ..... you go buy a new one for you guys to use:D:
If you and a friend bought a motorcycle together...you took it out and wrecked on it ....should he have to lose his 1/2 of the bike cause you were careless?
Now if he wanted his 1/2 of the money... cause you totalled it....whats fair? A new motorcylce for you both to ride:D

Any chance it could be repaired?

Well, sucks to say but... You were the one that broke it, so that much is your fault. With that said, since it wasn't his fault you should compensate him. If you cant afford the whole $150 maybe workout a little less if he is your friend and all.

A friend of mine was holding onto a custom bubbler for a friend of his, and one night he left it sitting on the counter and I bumped it with my elbow as I was putting on my jacket to leave and it shattered into a thousand pieces. I felt like shit because I was broke at the time, but luckily the guy was cool, and I offered him 1/4 of some chronic and I think my buddy that was in charge of it gave him like $150 bucks and all was well.
I would just buy a new one to replace it rather than giving him money, but I would probably be kinda pissed if I had a friend acting like you are. No one has never broken any of my shit, despite the fact that my favorite bowl (in my avatar) has been dropped from about 5 feet onto concrete 4 times by idiots and survived them all, so I don't know what I'd really do in the situation. But the fact that you are trying to absolve yourself of all the blame when it was your fault is sketchy. How did you break it anyways? Learning to juggle?
Overall I'd say that since he is your friend, he shouldn't really have to ask you to do something about it, you should just do it since you are friends and it was half his investment too. Its true that you are both out a bong, but its your fault so you should have some accountability for it.
