really dry leaves

i've been watering my plants every 3-4 days depending on how damp they still are when i check them. the leaves seem to be really dry most of the time. also they seem to flourish and then go limp and stay that way often. other than that they seem healthy. they are just over a month old. the tallest is ~7", the shortest ~3". they are under 4 23W CFL's. (3 6500K, 1 2700K)

is that just the cycle they go trough as they await more water? and if so i should water about a day before they get limp, correct?

i have read that sulfur will cause growth to slow and leaves tend to get brittle and stay more narrow than normal. i'm pretty sure it's not this, but thought i would throw it out there.

i'm growing in soil. i don't have a meter yet or ph test kit. i have been using 1/4 strength mg but haven't applied it the last two waterings. i am looking for some orgainc ferts. also i am thinking of putting into flower soon.

*bonus question* if i want to LST should i start in these pots, they seem a little small, or should i wait until i transplant? do you transplant duing LST?

They don't look nearly as bad as I expected.
Be aware that the MG and Shultz soils are REALLY similar in terms of how they react to additional feed- it's easy to over-do it, but actually your new growth looks perky and green so I'd hold off on giving liquid feed until you notice that they are hungry.
The pics appear to show plants that need to be watered. Do the pots feel light? If they do, the wilt may be nothing more serious than drying. Your conditions sound very reasonable.
There's no need to run peroxide at this point. If your pots have built in catch trays, make sure they have been removed, and if you still want to use the trays, at least put like a shim under there so the pot drains more freely. That's the best way to get oxygen to the root zone in soil.

For sure, Expert Gardener soil is pre-nuted, something like 0.8-0.6-0.8, I've used it just because it is hard to find good soil here in the midwest. I wouldn't give any nutes until you notice they need like Stinky said. Adding some perlite would definetely help drainage cause that shit is pretty heavy IMO. Other than that they look good just keep on doin what your doing. Remember it's a weed, don't give it too much attention, that's when people start to see problems by worrying and then they do things that harm their babies instead of help them

stinky, thanks for the info. i actually watered this morning. i forgot to mention that. sorry. it was early. they still look a little droopy. i can take new pics if need be. so when you way don't give any nutes until i know they are hungry. so just when i see any signs of anything going deficient etc?

litup, i'll definitely pick up some perilite. i was actually thinking of doing something like 50% worm castings, 25% each or perilite and vermiculite. does that sound like an okay mix? on the next go round. i got 4 beans from some beaster. i want at least one more run before i get custom genetics and a hydro setup.

Worm castings aren't a good growing medium, they get wet and basically turn to mud. A good additive tho or you can make a tea out of them.

Right- worm castings are an additive, but cannot be used as a soil base. Start with a good base like potting mix or even promix, and you can add low levels of additives like worm castings or kelp compost or whatever, but if you intend to run chemmy ferts, I'd stick with a very plain soil and just add a little extra perlite to it, and remember to only pot up to slightly larger pots, and do it on a regualr schedule every 4-6 weeks.

ok. hmm. if i was gonna go soiless i guess i could just go hydro. hell. i can put together a system for a couple of hundred. maybe i'll just do that. thanks lit.

I know some folks do the 50/50 perlite and vermiculite, soiless but you need to use hydro nutes. I was reading somewhere they called them hempy buckets, google it, i'm sure you pull it off. Peace.
