This tent containing about 85 Cubic feet of air. The vortex 4 inch seems to blow at 172 CFM, even with the restriction (filter, duct, etc.) this should be perfect.
What else would I need to buy besides the vortex itself?
I'm such a newb when it comes to this :)
is there a guide you can point me towards?
I fail at using the search (dunno what to type in)
Do I buy the carbon filter that is 4inches?Can Filter 2600 4" -
Do I need to buy 4" Metallic Vent Ducting - 25' -
Also I should probably get cooling for my HPS hood yes? Does that need a separate fan of itself?
There is a lot of information in these 2 post:Quote:

If you want to have a filter that match the fan you'll need to go with an 4 inch, you could always buy a 6 inch and a reducer, this give you the chance to go bigger one day... The products you choose seems quite good. You should consider getting a fan in this tent to get the air moving around. Personnally I got a cool tube so I don't worry too much about the lamp heat. In you're case the best solution may be to install the exhaust just over the lamp, like that it will suck the hot air out. You can check my setup, I've just installed the tent yesterday: http://boards.cannabis.com/grow-log/...new-setup.html
Hope this help you out.
When looking at fans, one thing to keep in mind is that more airflow is better than less - as long as you have the right size filter attached.
I've got a 3'x3' Hydrohut that I use. I had a lot of trouble with heat on the first grow I did in it, so I ended up buying a bigger fan to deal with it. I've currently got a 305cfm Canfan, with the 1900 Canfilter attached. That's almost twice the air movemnet I'm "supposed" to need, and the tent still gets warmer than I'd like.
One other thought, if you don't have one and can afford the cost, invest in a cool tube for your light. It'll make a huge difference. Wish I could afford one lol.
revanche check out this website might save you some $$$

High Tech Garden Supply
i would buy the biggest fan you can afford , you can get ducting splitters so you can add more than 1 item too it, with a cooltube you can go vertical in center of tent, check out shaggy's grow log he has a 4x4x8 tent with a cooltube in center of tent for test grows
High Tech Garden Supply
good luck
not to go off subject but cheaphydroponics.com is a pretty cheap source as well
damn those prices arnt bad either. i try to stay away from high tech garden supply because nothing is compatible with other higher end products. i bought a 400w hps from them and you cant remove the cord from the ballast... and the hood they gave me wasnt sealed and it was cheaply built. the duct holes were bolt on so they had air leaks there too. i went and bought a quality lumatek digi ballast and the cord wasnt compatible with my old high tech garden hood :mad:Quote:

I'm lucky I got my ballast, cool tube and lamp for peanuts !
A good planning helped me a lot on that, I've took the time to search around for good equipment at the best price as I was reading stuff here every days... Still cost me some good money, but I love doing it and I'm getting some good results.
I have no complains! :rastasmoke:
