Alright, I'm growing skunk red hair, i'm 7 weeks and four days into flowering, and I have noticed something very strange happining that I'm kind of worried about. The female flowers (calyxes) have opened up around a few of my plants, and three yellowish pistals have emmerged out of them, I have never seen anything like this, but I'm sure they are all female. About 50% of the hairs are red and I plan on harvesting on friday...
What do you guys think. ever seen this?

youve gone hermy...lol. yeah...those are male flowers, often referred to as naners as they resemble bananas. good news is youve found them early if they look like pistils still. get some tweezers, EXAMINE EACH PLANT and pluck out any that you see. you should be fine just keep an eye out after that.

Seriously? That this late into flowering? Wow.. would it be better to chop now? or pluck and keep going? If its steral can it affect the other plants or not? shit... lol

Pluck the nanners immediately and monitor your plants religiously to make sure you don't get self pollination
if you get self pollination, at least thats one step toward making an F1 breed of seed right? (I think)
if you continue to self pollinate, you might also inherit the genetic tendency to go hermie, but all dominant traits can be isolated by inbreeding
if you are into the whole scientific breeding stuff :hippy:

I dont care about the seeds lol, i want to save this harvest. After examining my plants today, the one that started frist began to self polinate, there were seeds forming all over the plant, yet this also was the plant least along in the flowering stage. I cut it down in hopes now to save the rest. there are now six normal plants and one that has male flowers, yet no signs of self pollination. Its my farthest allong plant, half of the pistls are red, should I cut or risk it? Also, can they pollinate my other plants? Or have they already?
thanks again in advance

In the future, don't cut the SEEDED plant (seeds do not produce more seeds), cut the hermaphrodite.
If your genetics tend to herm, first check for light leaks and high temps, and run Reverse if you can't figure out why they are doing it.

No no, two of my plants showed nanners, and I cut the one that was self pollinating, it had nanners and seeds. Its good genetics, ordered seeds offline, its stress related, heat stress, I had my lamps too close for a tad. Reverse this late? Its worth it? I'm like, a few days from harvest. five at the longest.
Well I guess my question now is how long after females are pollinated do they start producing seeds, and will this lower potency?
Some knowledge would be appreciated
Too late for Reverse by far.
Potency is not affected. Pollination starts seed production immediately; you will start seeing visual evidence of this in about a week and a half. Ripeness comes at 4-5 weeks after pollination. Let the seeds get large enough to de-seed your product easily- tiny unripe pips are impossible to remove and give a horrible smoke.

Well as of now there are no signs,,,,, and I was planning on harvesting in afew days, like I said i'm over seven weeks in and havest period is eight to nine... how could I have time to let them fully mature lol? Woulnlt it be smartest to just cut now? Lol and is there any signs that my girls have been pollinated?? What if they are safe....

I heard potency drops with seeded vs Sensimilla (non-seeded) because some energy is put into producing seeds rather than THC?
Although I've had some real strong seeded stuff before
