I think what I'll do is clip several clones from the best girl soon, then the best, or perhaps the 2 best clones will become mothers. If I start training when they're young, small and suple and keep them in a proper pot (not a !@$%ing bag) then I could have 1-2 girs like Oprah here, a great little plant that's height efficient!

Hey, Chrissy. You know, you really seem like you know what you are doing. I have to compliment you on your plants when I get the chance. :) Ok, no, I'm not exactly talking about Bonsai Moms. Those will give you 50 clones each, easily...and you can keep them for longer and cut them down and they will reveg etc. Have you seen my Bonsai Mom?? It is not as short as would be preferred...but it definitely has some massive bushy growth. One could get 50 clones off of her easily.
But, I'm talking about creating a temporary Mom every time you go from flower to veg and VV. Since you have 2 months between harvests, this is much too long of a period of time to veg a clone. If you are growing from seed, you would want to veg for a period closer to that (2 mos.) to get the plant to maturity...but when working with clones that are from a mature plant, these clones can be viable to flower the moment they are rooted. Most people will still veg them for a couple of weeks, and them flip them.
Now, during the time you have your flowering room occupied, you would be vegging one plant...and growing her into a mother. Pinch the tops a couple times and make her really bush out. You veg her for about 1.5 months or so, and then a couple weeks before your harvest, you clip the desired amount of clones from her (including one for the next cycle) and throw her away. Those clones you have taken will root and be almost ready to flower as you harvest your crop. I think SantaCruz said he vegged them a bit longer (approx. 2 wks) in his flowering room before they were flipped cuz they had just come from barely rooted.
Wow, that was long...:smokin: Thanks for putting that Bonsai Mom link up on my thread though. It's good shtuff, for sure. Everyone should read that! :D How are your harvests coming? You should be right in the midst of them. I'll have to go check you out on your grow.
CG, Oprah's a sexy bitch, for sure. Damn, man that is exactly what you wanna do to make a beautful Bonsai Mum. keep her short. Don't be shy...cut her up if need be. She wont go anywhere but OUT. :) This one got too tall and there was not enought light to keep the bottom leaves alive, so they died off, thus making her a tall Bonsai...but still in the vicinity of a Bonsai Mom. :D
Well, I hope to finish up this thread here soon. I have just a few more to post, then I'll let her die. Seems the boards are picking up a bit cuz this thing is already down in the middle of the page. Seems like people are looking...but not posting. :( Poor me. HAHA :D

Righteous cloning info Fog, thanks, I needed that. I've got a rooted clone going now, and am considering making her a mom.

That's a great explanation Fog. Those are my thoughts but written out clearly.
If you shape the tree into a bush then it's a bonsai mom! (in my opninion, of course)
The board is slowly re-gaining unconsciousness. ;)

No probs, Mrs. G. I think next to setting up your exhaust system and getting the temps and such worked out, timing your veg cycles to coincide with your bloom cycles is probably the next hardest thing. Also, when most people would like to devote the majority of their space to flowering (understandably), it is nice to be able to veg for exactly the right amount of time and exactly the right number of plants. :weedpoke:
You don't want your veg room getting all 'fuckulated' cuz you over-vegged. ;) Ha
CG, damn, right, man! I can't believe you guys actually understood the babble I was talking about with the rotating mothers. It was hard enough to get out of my head, let alone make it understandable. LOL :D

Not exactly a Bonsai Mom...but she strives to be. :D

Hey, Scarlet! THANKS! :D:D:D
Ok, guys. Let's try to finish this thing off here. I know some of you (probably mostly lurkers) have been waiting for some finished pics in this log. I still have some good one's to come, so...let's start! :)
First, we'll go into the veg room and check out what we've got broiling in there...

Decent clones vegging... :D

These plants were topped a little bit ago. Now that the side shoots are starting to show, I pull them down and spread them out...kinda how I do it to my girl before ...ehh...you know. ;)

Vegging rocks. :D

Let's go pay a visit to Mum. :) It would be disrespectful if we didn't. ;)

She's always been unhealthy...but not to the point of dying. She just been in kind of a holding pattern for a LONG time. She's got the whole Rubbermaid Box to herself, which is about 100 watts of CFLs (4 x 23w), but the plant is so tall and bushy that the light just doesn't penetrate down to the lower leaves.
[attachment=o125852] [attachment=o125853]
Originally she was made to become a mother. This means, she was going to supply clones for future grows. Then I realized that we just don't need that many clones. Plus, I've come to the conclusion that potency and stability do not degrade at a significant rate so that you wouldn't be able to just grow in generations. So, now we've just been keeping the Mom to see how long we can keep her in veg...and also to hopefully flower her if we have the room sometime. It would be sweet to be able to plant her outside to flower. She'd probably grow to 8 or 10 feet!
For now, we'll put her in a larger pot because she seems to be rootbound a bit. No surprise.
