My crockpot has a keep warm setting that keeps the temp around 160f I believe. Could I cook it on this setting for like 24 hours? Then there would be no risk of losing anything. I would think that over that period of time the THC would convert to its active form.

Jebus2029, I don't think that temp is high enough to really extract much THC my friend. I think it needs something over the 200 degree mark to begin breaking down.

Even over long periods of time? Like 24 hours? I would think it would break it down over that long a period. Like how you bake it at 300 for 5 minutes when making green dragon, or you can bake it at 200 for 20 minutes. I would think an even longer period at a lower temp would work. I am sure there is a limit to how low you can go. I just don't have the herb to experiment with :)

But I had to sign up to ask a question, I'm sure it was answered sometime in the past three years, but reading through 30somthing pages is pain.
For the pan and mixing bowl method, how long should the mixture be left in the pan for?
And this one might be kind of stupid but I need to ask, would a rice cooker sufice as crock pot?

Now, ive tried making edibles many times, and all but one were a complete fail--and even teh one taht did work, im not too sure how well it did--. Anyways, im making a batch in my crockpot right now, and the temps im reading now are getting me a little bit concerned. I have my crockpot on low, and when i test the liquid with my candy thermometer, it reads 320f+/-. Im not too concered with that temp and the thc vaping, as i remember the temp for vapourization is higher than 350f..BUT i was reading that you simmer yours on low, and you get temps at 225/235?
What should i do? Should i cook it for less time? maybe 1-2 hours? Or should i just crack the lid a bit and let it simmer at a lower temp?

Does it have a keep warm setting? If not you could always leave the lid off to keep the temp down. Not sure if it would degrade any faster from open air contact or not. If it's only 5 hours I think it'll be fine

A few things that kill me about people posting N here is when they say :
I did EXACTLY what you said and it didn't work!! When questioned on their process its never EXACTLY how they were told how to do it ... U find out they are not using the proper measurements of either oil, weed, or heat.

I 1st made a test batch from reading a few pages and actually got a nice buzz ..not killer but ok. I admit becuz it was a test batch I actually made a lot of mistakes in the process that I didn't think would make a difference (still got a buzz tho:smokin:)..... UNTIL I READ it ALLLLL!!!
I kno now that my temps were a bit off on my crockpot due to no way to gauge true temp (jus got a candy thermo)
The bud was only 1g (wonderwoman) and wasn't a FINE GRIND with too much oil. My cook time could have been longer also.
Once I get my coffee grinder today I will make a batch a reply back ....
The main reason why I would like to use this method is 2 reasons.... I want 2 reduce my smoke consumption bcuz its a killer when workin out (starting 2 try and get N shape). Also I travel alot so poppin these will make me feel safer than lighting up in my hotel bathroom ... with the shower runnin and a wet towel under the door:D. Im plannin a week vacation next month and I really want 2 get this mix right. I'm shooting 4 a dose strenght of 2 to 3 pill per day so 25 pills would b my magic number 4 a fun filled vacation..

I couldn't make it out to Walmart for a cheapO grinder ... But I still wanted 2 give this another try becuz when I tested the VCO temps N my cheapo crock pot I found out what a lot of people have discovered.... I have a cheap crock pot! I have 3 settings on my crock .... warm, low, high oh my!! The high setting gets over 300F (porage 2 Hott) the low setting doesn't get over 200F (porage 2 cold) so we wont talk about warm :mad: so basically i followed WeedHound's advice 2 play the temp game .. 2 keep it around 225 for 2.5hrs.. best batch so far ..... I believe without that fine grind I should have cooked it longer .... This next batch should B perfect:dance:

Hope you get a good batch nailed down in time for your vacation.
I took a supply with me over the summer holidays and discovered a whole new sport.
A couple of caps an hour or two after breakfast (before hitting the beach) set up the day fantastically, but the best part... an aqua pack for my ipod and a set of water-proof earphones while snorkeling! Man, not only could I understand what the fish were saying ..but they could understand me. Though I did get a little paranoid when one of the lil' beggars started following me trying to find out what I was on.
Anyhow, have fun and enjoy.

Hi there. I saw you said you want to reduce your consumption to try and get in shape. Why not use weed to your advantage? It may not work for everyone but weed actually helped me to get into shape. I was diagnosed with depression back in 2006 while I was in the military. I had started gaining weight from it(somehow in my mind I thought if I got really fat I could get out of the service) and I was battling suicidal thoughts. They put me on an antidepressant (I think it was zoloft, but I'm not sure of that) and then I just blew up. I got up to 270 lbs (when I joined I was about 165). When I found out I was going to be discharged I weened myself off my meds and was off them about a week before I was back home.
So there I was, 270 lbs, feeling better because I was a free man again, but in desperate need of losing weight. First thing I did when I got home was start smoking with my friends again (which I feel helped saved me from depression). I had to change my diet and I began exercising. I was worried about working out high because I thought I would hurt myself, but that never happened. Weed would make me focus when I needed to (like when lifting weights), and was excellent for cardio (you can zone out much easier).
I recommend trying it sometime as long as you can stay in control. Get on a elliptical while high and just go to town. If you disconnect your mind from what your body is doing you won't get tired nearly as fast and you will notice you are going faster too. Control your breathing too. If you are breathing fast you get tired fast. Nice slow breathes through the nose. It may take some practice and it might be a little scary at first doing it in front of other people, but no one will really pay close enough attention to know. A few times people have called me out on it but in each case they laughed about it and said how they do it too sometimes.
If you can join a 24 hour gym I would go with that. I would smoke about 11 at night go into the gym and do 1.5 hours of cardio broken by 3 sets of weight training, lunges, or whatever else I wanted to do. There were barely ever any other people in there. Also bring an ipod with your music whenever you workout. It will make a huge difference also.
I was down to 155 lbs in exactly 1 year and a day from the time I started to exercise (I was focusing on cardio and didn't really push myself to gain muscle mass). Then over the following year I went up to about 185 by putting on muscle. Since then I've hovered right around 170 (I haven't been working out due to an elbow injury I got while trying new exercises without the correct form).
I would sometimes use the caps for this too. I might hit my single hitter and pop 2 caps just before going to the gym. That way I would have a mild buzz walking in, when I would most likely be talking to people, and by the time it wore off the caps would start kicking in. I find working out speeds up the onset of them also. The feeling of the caps is totally different for working out also. The first time I tried was a little weird. My body felt kinda mushy while doing cardio.
Man that was long winded. I guess it's not really related to the caps, other than the fact that I would take them before working out sometimes, but I thought this could help you or someone else out. Good luck.
