It's a noble idea but would never work because it defies basic economic laws. It's all about supply, demand, and what price the local market will bear. Take the San Francisco Area for example. Weed is pretty expensive out here; generally dank is $40-$60 an 1/8th depending on who you know. Yeah, that's a lot more than some places and there's always someone saying "you're gettin ripped man" but that's just ignorance. Everything is more expensive here. Take housing for example, what you could buy in Atlanta for $150K would cost a $1 million here. Seriously, I'm not kidding. Why, because with all the high tech industry people make a lot more money. The median income is much higher than other places.
So, how does this factor into the price of weed and the impossibility of a universal low price? Well, say the price is set to $10 an 1/8th, a lot lower than current local prices. Everyone who was used to paying $50 an 1/8th will be like "holy shit, fuck the 1/8th, I'll take a qp" Suddenly demand goes way, way up but the supply won't be able to keep up.
For example, take 8 people who used to buy an 1/8th a week because that was all the could afford. Their dealer would keep a supply of 1oz per week to satisfy his customers demand. Now, however, the price is cut in half so they can now afford 1/4 per week for a total demand of 2oz. Unfortunatley the dealers supply reamains constant at 1 oz. There is more demand than supply and sooner or later the conversations will go like this:
-Person A: "Give me a 1/4 for $25
-Person B: " Give me one to"
-Dealer: "Sorry guys, I only got one 1/4"
-Person A: "Well, I'm having a party and really need the extra weed so how 'bout I give you $35 for the 1/4"
-Person B: "Fuck his party, I want to get hella stoned, I'll give you $50 for the 1/4"
Now the price is right back where it started. That's a pretty simplified example but you get the idea.
Heh, yep, that's how it'd go alright. The only way it'd work is if everyone on the planet agreed to the terms, and if we could get everyone on the planet to agree to *anything*, I'd be damn impressed.
well Fengzi..that was a good arguement... i will have to think on that for a minute...then i will respond i would hate just to spit up garbage like half the shit heels in here do....so bear with me i will have a rebutle
See, it's those ignorant little remarks aimed to piss people off that just don't sit well with me.
Why even mention that unless you wanted a reaction? And that's why I say you should leave. This should be a positive place. And you're how old now? Come on, grow up. ~Quote:

still doing my research....trickle down econimcs....no....supply and demand...no...i'm getting warmer...thanks for your POSITIVE feed back...its a plant
I'm more than happy to leave positive feedback for those that treat me and others with respect. You, however, seem to be some twenty-something child bent on insulting strangers over the internet because you're in love with yourself.
And I actually did leave that last comment as nicely as I could. It was said with good intentions. Maybe take the advice of others? Have a good one. ~
the economic principle you are thinking of is price fixing and it is the distributors that decide to do it and not the consumers all the distributors have to do to prevent it is refuse to sell it that low. you think they wouldnt yer dreamin
We can all be good old fashion red communists then pot will have a standard price.............what do ya say commrads...
i dont understand here are you trying to play it off like you were joking the whole time or just bringing it back up? If you are bringing it back up it is still an idea that will never work.
