Hey Dan,
Personally, I don©Ë?t worry about that until I have the fundamental in a
little flat and all the rest of the finger holes in, also a little flat.
Then if the fundamental is too touchy you need to work on the flue depth (it
may be too deep) or the tsh length (it may be too short) and you can always
chamfer the bottom edge of the flue at the tsh as well as the front edge of
the bird. Also you may need to lower the cutting edge into the air stream a
little using a slight chamfer on the top of the cutting edge. You may want
to try different bird designs ( with or without a chimney) As far as I can
tell a lot of flutes don©Ë?t always come out on the money in the second octave
and that is something I©Ë?m always working on.
